Title: Host Mental stats?
Post by: cuidaBeja on <12-27-19/1255:59>
Last night when running 6e for the first time, it only just hit me that probe and backdoor entry are both resisted with Willpower+Firewall, but the roll is made exclusively by Hosts, which are not given a willpower stat, nor is it explained anywhere I see what to substitute there. What is this roll? Closest I can figure is to use the Mental Stat Equivalence for Technomancers and roll Firewall twice, but it feels like a misuse of that table.

You use the spider's mental stat.

And this is why, in 6we, every host now needs a spider ;)

Wacky. Wish they would've said that somewhere. It's a particularly low quality host for a low quality company though, so I can just make that 2 or 3

See the Host Hacking Example sidebar on pg 178.

The host either roll just its own firewall as a dice pool of its own (if host is not attended by a spider) or the test is opposed by Willpower of attending spider plus firewall of the host.

You can even find a clarifying example of this at SR6 p. 178
