I still haven't been able to acquire 6e so this may be basic knowledge, but

In 5e you cannot spend edge for actions performed by Skillwire.
6e has a wildly different edge system,

How does new edge apply to Skillwire actions?

You have to have a skilljack to use skillwires.

The wireless bonus for skilljacks allows Edge use with skillsofts.
