Title: SR6 Hacking with Device Rating
Post by: Darksithmstr on <08-11-20/0435:21>
SO as I got through the beginner box adventure Battle Royal, it gives device rating for cameras you can hack to see their feed, but that is all they give.  How do i know the stats, what are their defense rating, defense roll, general stats??  I mean I can guess device rating x2 for a roll, but any clarifications.

Also slightly off topic  Brute Force Matrix Action only has 1 defense set of stats, Willpower+Firewall, but if it isn't a persona and is a machine or host, it won't have a willpower, so what do I sub Device rating?  or host rating?

Device Rating normally equals the Firewall and Data Processing Matrix Attributes, if no explicit stats are given.

Mental attributes are NOT replaced by anything. You need active supervision from a Spider to have Mental Attributes in that test. An unsupervised Host is more vulnerable than a supervised Host as a result.

Where is information on spiders, core rulebook doesn't seem to have anything on them, if you were brute forcing onto comlink or PAN they yup Cally don't have a presence do they?  Sorry Gming my first game and I appreciate any details for the future!

The Host Hacking examples note using the Spider's Willpower. p179 notes that if you are actively defending a device or host, if two possible defense pools exist they can pick which they use.

A Spoder is just a NPC decker that is working for the corp ... don’t know what they don't have a presence in the stats section with the rear of the goons and whatnot but you can just use the decker archetypes as a baseline.
