I was thinking of putting together a tv chef who's secret life involved being a runner. Maybe a James Bond meets Alton Brown... Would the knowledge skill of culinary arts interfere with the eleven wines skill or just be complementary?
Right now this is purely conjecture...

A) If you're a Trid personality, then either some Local Fame qualities (or Bad Reputation) may be applicable. Life in the Public eye is not normally synergistic with shadowrunning
B) Culinary arts are about presentation. Eleven (or even Elven ;)) wines would likely be either a separate knowledge skill, or a specialisation for something like 'Metahuman Delicacies', 'Beverages', etc etc

If you gave him some blades skill he would really have "knife skills" as a chef.
The trideo job could be the day job negative quality also.

I see plenty of problems with it in a serious campaign..
I'll list a few..
1) TV-chefs tends to have a fairly high recognition factor, meaning they are easily recognized by people seeing them on the street, being a media star and a shadowrunner seems like a certain path to disaster.
2) Having your own TV-show is a pretty big deal, but it also means a lot of responsibilities i.e., regular schedule for filming said shows, preparing for the shows, explaining to the tv-network why you have a black eye or a broken arm for next weeks show - the network expect you to be professional, show up, do your job etc, this will mean saying no to shadowrunning jobs, leaving your team in tight spots to go film, and don't even get me started on your contacts all more or less knowing you are also the fancy celeb tv-chef which means any one of them less than 4 loyalty are bound to tell/sell someone that information sooner rather than later.

To quote another poster, sounds like a Day Job issue to me. At MAX rating, which would still be only for a small-time (not daily) cooking show.
I like the listed idea of giving the man some knife skills :)

I think Runners Companion has a "Fame" quality - National Fame (which guarantee people can recognize him) is a 10 BP quality (also adds some dice for some situations).
Its a nice example of how difficult it is sometimes to pick qualities that actually makes sense from a game technical point of view. Example..
National Fame - costs 10 BP and gives you some social dice in certain situations (bribing the local mafia don with a chance to guest star on your show about pasta? :P) but the negative effects of being famous on a national scale (people recognize you per default) is just so many and so severe for a shadowrunner that I don't even know where to start.

Why am I thinking of the chef psycho from Dead Rising 2?
