Just wanna know what other GMs prefer to use as game soundtrack. My games are usually dark, oppressive and violent, so I usually use the electro-industrial genre (bands like Combichrist, Eisenfunk, Agonoize, Grendel, etc.) with the occasional orxploitation rap when they're cruising through gang turf.
What about y'all?

There's another thread similar to this (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=1527.0)...

I've seen the other threads, but I just wanted to make one of my own. Maybe who knows, more people joined the board and didn't feel like necro'ing a thread from a few months ago. Like me.
Anyway, vote if you want, reply if you want, let it die if you want.

Classic Rock (Which would be considered Classical Music by Shadowrun time), Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Power Metal, Heavy Mythril, Industrial, and a few other nice items.
I have to get my group into the Jungles someday to use a Vietnam Soundtrack legitimately.

I have never understood the stigma attached to necromancing old threads.
Any way, I use this (http://listen.grooveshark.com/playlist/Potental+Shadowrun+Music/35903497?src=5) and that (http://listen.grooveshark.com/playlist/Stuff+That+Has+Potental+To+Be+In+The+Potental+Shadowrun+Playlist/38999396?src=5), though I have not gotten around to listening to everything in the second link there, because I am lazy.

We use an internet radio station that plays old spy soundtrack stuff. No idea which one it is though.

I've found that Hamster Alliance (http://www.hamsteralliance.com/) makes a lot of music that's fitting for nearly any Shadowrun mood. He does metal, drum-n-bass, electronica, and touches on nearly every other genre I can think of. Several of his songs would be worthy of a movie soundtrack (he recently did one that's reminiscent of Inception).
Best part is, his entire collection is free. You can stream it off his site, or download it.

I have a big post I wrote in the other thread. I don't want to repost it. Click here (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=1527.0) for it though.

My group used the Cowboy Bebop CDs for a time. It kinda fit, going from songs with lyrics to jazz music to techno.

I've heard it (Hell, I have it), but it doesn't fit my games. Too colorful.

I tried music, but often the "mood" would shift and the music didnt work. *Shrugs*. Only time it worked is when I used a remix CD a DJ pal of mine gave me for a club scene.

I pretty much stick to the Hamster Alliance collection in my MP3 player. (It's one of those with built-in speakers.) I've listened to his stuff often enough where I can usually find an appropriate song just by scanning titles.
Also, I don't keep music rolling all the time, just for those points where I think a particular song might make for good background while describing a new scene. Half the time, it doesn't even run half the length of the song.

the solution to having the music change to match the mood is to have multiple playlists by "mood" as it is i'm working one up right now and have to get some Aerosmith CDs so that i have a song i want for when all hades breaks out
