Title: Shadowrun Apps?
Post by: IC3H4MM3R on <07-31-24/1306:41>
I was wondering if there were any Shadowrun apps out there. Besides dice rollers, I mean.

Does anyone ever answer these posts?

Usually, if they've got something useful to say... sadly I don't know of any apps currently  ::)

I can see why. Its kind of a pain to verify every single post and reply. Thank you for responding so I know I'm not wasting my time on a forum where nobody talks to the newcomers.  Any idea who I could pitch an app idea to?

If you don't make a profit and don't replace books, you can do whatever you want without explicit permission. If you want to make something official, you'll have to get in touch with Catalyst with a good pitch. Not sure where you could go to learn some manners, though.

I wasn't intending to be rude. If I came across that way I do apologize. What did I say that was out of line? ( so I dont't repeat that mistake)

Ironically, I was going to post about the Commlink6 app for character generation and Aria's awesome spreadsheet here on the forums. but I've been a bit busy with a new job and haven't had as much time to engage in the community as I want. I think the rude part was about "wasting your time" on a forum where "no one talks to the newcomers". We're actually a very supportive forum, but a lot of people are not on here 24/7, so it may take a while to respond. Also, as Aria said, if they don't have anything to add, they tend not to respond, especially if someone is looking for something.

What kind of app are you looking for or looking to create?

I meant no offense by that. I have joined forums before expecting a good place for conversations and been met with silence. I was just relieved when Aria answered me and let me know this was still an active forum that engages with people. Its hard to inflect in text tho.

Comm link? That actually sounds like it might be the thing I was thinking of pitching. I was thinking of an app the players could download to keep track of their runner contacts. The gm version or mode could allow you to record a snippet of voice so you could remember how the character sounded when you played them in the past. It would basically help with continuity through different games. It would also help with the game immersion.

Actually, Commlink (https://commlink.rocks/) is a character generator program. But the Contact thing sounds like fun!

I thought so, but I'm not a coder. Well, I have a little coding ability, but I've never done apps. I just thought I could put a bug in somebody's ear about it. I wouldn't balk at spending a dollar or two on an app like that, personally.
