Does anyone share campaigns amongst GMs? Multiple GMs, one shared world? One of the players in my upcoming game is GMing a Shadowrun game at the same time(one that I will be playing in). We've been discussing using bits and pieces from each others campaign, mainly in a ripple type affect. Was wondering if anyone has done anything similar before and how it worked out?

I did have played in (and sometimes run) in a shared Thousand Suns game between a few groups. The characters were all 1970's Space Opera characters who did illegal things across the setting. Each group had their own ship and they worked within the same scope of authority and ring of contacts so that the effects of each large movement would be felt among each crew.
I've also done this with FATE in a fantasy setting where all players would switch out and run a session, making sure that everyone only ran one session in a row to ensure that the strings that coiled the world together were cluttered, muddled, and ridiculous. It worked well because no one ever mentioned who was missing or that someone was not present in a previous adventure.
"Wait, Princess Falisia Moonbeam is the vampire Hourglass? Then who controls the globe of tides?"
"The Pirate Lord Granacht of Brunsmark—who is meeting with the Unicorn Varsuvious this very day at the Part-tide Festival in the Vale!"
I find that you want their to be a definite discourse between the groups, but not so much as to force actions.

I have done this in a couple of other systems, but not Shadowrun. The biggest issue is if the GMs are on the same page with how they run a campaign. This isn't so true with their ideas on mechanics and such though this can be an issue some times as it is with rewards ie money, gear and to a lesser extent karma.

I'd argue that there would have to be a chart for the threat and length of the run in relation with the gear and nuyen given out. Karma would have to be monitored so everyone is moving along at an equal pace. Karma would be the most important thing here.

The other GM is going more for a standard shadowrun campaign. Players caught up in corp wars doing espionage, double dealing paranoia etc etc.... And as stated in my other thread I am going more for an bottom feeder campaign. So the other players who aren't running campaigns as GMs will be running a character for each campaign. We are starting with some distances between our two storylines and character groups so we can merge the parts that work without either campaign overshadowing the other.
So far we've talked about perhaps one of the runners hiring the ganger types for a shadowrun. Also some of the exploits making it back to the other group via rumors on the street and the news. I've also thought about using my character's contacts in his campaign as contacts and reoccuring NPCs in my campaign.

So it would be two distinct campaigns in one kinda shared world is what I think you are saying. This is different than what I was thinking of and had done before.
The closest to that I've done is a champions group that did a sliders (the 90s TV show) series of runs with the whole mistaken idea thing with each world run by a different person. Each player taking a turn in running. It worked OK, but sometimes it seemed like people would pick on the character of a GM who had made their life miserable or awkward before. With only the two GMs this shouldn't be as big of a problem, but how to split the time between which campaign will need to be discussed.
Sounds like a fun idea. Good luck

While we're not having seperate campaigns, one world, we do have multiple GMs.
Since we all want to play and no one wants to be GM, there are three of us who switch around as GM, while still playing their character. We just have one of the other three be the NPCs when the current GM/Player's character is talking to someone.

It's pretty easy to do online, which is what I did for almost fifteen years. I just don't know who would be cool with maintaining a board that could have a ton of threads for each location, sublocation, and OOC page if that's how you roll (So to speak) being used by multiple PCs because everyone would be wise to adhere to the idea that you can't be at two places at once.
The basic rule was: Anyone can wander in, so everyone follows the same rules and fluff. That is to say every RAW and piece of fluff was canon. And when you can't change stuff, it gets ignored or ... something. And you can be sure that experience has colored how I write my material.

All GMs are not created equal. That is my only problem with hydra games.

That is true.
One hopes that with enough patience the "bad" GMs get better and the good GMs get amazing. Some GMs don't change, though. You work through it.

Well, until they invent a device that allows me to punch people through the Internet I haven't got that luxury.
Well, when I'm back home I've gamed with another freelancer who is the group GM. Ugh. Gaming IRL. What sadist thought of that nonsense?

I'd be pulling ten-to-twenty if that had been around while I was doing Tech Support... Possibly longer.
Hell, they might even have taken the Hangman out of retirement for me...
