I was reading Seattle 2072 (specifically the part about gangs), and after reading the part about the Halloweeners I had a question.
My question is: What exactly is Nighmare?
The only theory I came up with was a Free Spirit. Although, I could be overthinking this way too much, and it could just be something thrown out for GM ideas.
So what do the forum goers think?

My money's on a Shedim using Slash 'n' Burn's body.

I'll second that 8)

- a Poser.
Honestly, I got the impression they were trying too hard, and in the Halloweeners, that's really saying something.

Poser can't mask an aura like Nightmare's been described as. (S)He's something with Power.

I thought Masking made your aura look normal and boring?
"Holy shit, his aura looks completely normal; run for it!"

I'm not so sure about that. It said it looked like his aura was on fire in the book.

"...The only thing I can say for certain about it is a source I trust has looked at Nightmare’s aura and it is tightly masked. That's no mean feat considering my source's abilities..." > Ethernaut

Or a spirit. Or a one-trick pony magician. Or the contact in question was drunk and actually got the intel wrong.

So is it something they threw in for GMs to decide or what?

Maybe, or maybe there's something sinister and dark waiting in the background for a major reveal. With Shadowrun, we never know, can we?
After all, who would have thought that one piece about Art Dankwalther would have caused such a major hubbub?
Whereas the first adventure I ever ran involved "Dunkie-Pop Popcorn". :P

Man!
That's the one thing I don't like about Shadowrun.
You can never be sure if the minor plot element you are using is actually minor, or just sitting there, waiting for the big reveal.
Harumph!

At the expense of incurring one of those 'duh' moments. What were the ramifications of Art Dankwalther from Threats 2?

Let's just say that one Mega learned the hard way what happens when you lay off the wrong person...
