So far I see a 3 combat characters (or four, depending what the ghoul will be like). I'll keep the gillette for now, but I'll have a look tomorrow for something more support like in case it's necessary.Probably combat based yes, not making a face ghoul
We just can buy some gel-ammo and we are fine.
My character has closed combat skills and has a slab, deadly weapons for all four hands are so expansive.
Is there really no way a char can start with a Chameleon Suit (Avail 10)?
Hmm, so far we have only combat chars, no hacker, no face, no mage?Yes but I hate hacking, i want to play something other than a mage and I'm not in a social character mood
Do we need them?
benhatt had mentioned that he was making a rigger. That's why I focused away from hardware/software. I still haven't done some of my shopping too, I may still have room to go backup hacker.Hmm, so far we have only combat chars, no hacker, no face, no mage?Yes but I hate hacking, i want to play something other than a mage and I'm not in a social character mood

Physical Description: Najateh isn’t as heavy-set as most other Orcs and in fact is quite good looking. Her weight is also mostly muscle, due to her work. As she’s often outside, she doesn’t waste much time with make-up and wears her hair in a simple ponytail under a Indiana Jones style Fedora hat. But if she puts her mind to it, she can look absolutely stunning. Length: 1m85 Weight: 102 kg Eyes: brown Hair: black background Najateh was born as a girl in the Yoruba tribe in Lagos, which meant she wouldn’t have many chances in life. Her first years were like every Lagotian, growing up in poverty trying to survive. Her life was turned upside down when she turned five. As the family had more and more problems to survive, they decided to sell her to a Cherubium (she was the best looking of the three girls). But when they wanted to get her there, she tried to get away and suddenly she was moving a lot quicker then she should be able to. A local priest was called in and he told that she was awakened. That was even worse for a traditional Yoruba family, to have an awakened daughter. But it also meant more money, as now they could sell her to the corporations. A transaction later she was in the possession of Ares Africa. She was brought to the city of Sekondi, where Ares had a training facility for girls like her (she was hardly the only one). As an Orc she matured quicker than the other girls and by the age of 12 she started to master the more advanced classes. Between her ability to quickly master languages and her adept powers, she was being trained to be a hunting guide and protector for groups hunting telesma in the rain forest. As she could astrally perceive, she also received some training to combat spirits protecting the places the Ares people wanted to go to and with her good looks and charming personality she could also get the people out of the way (if that didn’t help, Ares could summon heavy firepower to do the trick standby). During this period she was bitten or stung a couple of times and she became allergic to ekyelebenle and bee venom. One of these teams she guided was lead by Jean O’Grady, a mage also looking for telesma. She would rekindle the relationship later in Seattle, where O’Grady ran a talismonger shop at that time. In 2068, she was transferred from Africa to Chicago, to help the Ares teams there with some problems with awakened critters. It was quite a change for the 15 year old girl, as she was used to the African climate, and Chicago is quite a bit colder, especially in the fall. But she adapted quickly and together with some runner teams and a firewatch team they went in multiple times to search for Royal jelly. It wasn’t easy as close to the containment zone and the mana ebbs her powers would also weaken. During one of these run near the end of 2071 they were attacked by one of the many gangs in the area. Two shadowrun teams and a firewatch team pack a heavy punch and the battle was quite fierce, with many casualties on both sides. Najateh was shot early in the engagement and left for dead as both groups withdrew. A metahuman gang, the Orc and Troll Underground (OTU) found her and brought her back to their base. During the following months she was nursed back to health and as thanks she helped the gang out on several errands and with her powers and good looks, she managed to get them some things they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. But she was starting to get fed up with Chicago, having seen enough of the same during her youth in Lagos, and soon it was time to move on. While they can’t communicate (communications into Chicago are very difficult) she still considers them good friends. She managed to get her hands on a pickup truck and moved overland to Seattle, doing some odd jobs left and right, like crossing some borders without the guards being any wiser. Arriving in Seattle, she sought contact with Jean O’Grady, who put her in contact with people who could get her some work, like Ready Eddy and someone who could fix her weapons. When she was wounded, she also found a shaman to heal her through O’Grady. Build Point totals: 400 = 190 stats + 20 race + 41 magic + 134 skills – 10 qualities + 17 resources + 8 contacts |

Also, we should be assuming the maglocks are up and that the cams are thermo and ultra.

1. Chrona --- ???
Edit the list for Xzylvador
Do we at least know the nickname of the ghoul, Chrona? Otherwise Oni will give him one and he has the uncouth quality.

Rafa and Nameless: During your recon of the zoo, everything seems to be in state described. Checking out the construction in front of the zoo, you find your first hiccup. A Knight Errant Patrol Cruiser is parked in the center of the construction equipment. You'd guess that its their to protect the equipment, being this close to the barrens. Go ahead and make me perception rolls for surveillance (Don't forget +3 for actively searching) and let me know if you're actually wanting to go in and scout.
A microwire'd be pretty impossible to see hanging meters above you in a dark sky, right? And the camera's I assume aren't pointing upwards?
Will post the IC tomorrow... give the rest some time to talk and talk and talk :p
More serious: How's the timeline here? Are the rest really still planning while Rafa's up on the roof? Don't know how long Nameless' trip home and back took neither.
And as for comms: I kind of did assume we all have eachother's numbers... wrong?
...because it felt like the characters in the bar had been sitting there for forty-five minutes waiting. That was kind of the feeling I had too.
Quote...because it felt like the characters in the bar had been sitting there for forty-five minutes waiting. That was kind of the feeling I had too.
For you guys wanting a "legit" way into the park: Rafa (and Nameless so we could do it simultaneously?) could sabotage the two cameras on the roof... use a miniwelder or something on a wire, make it look like a short circuit. Spider makes a call to technicians, hacker intercepts the call and says a team's on a way, and in you go.
Snatch the tiger and put it in the back while someone replaces the burnt cable. "Camera's back on? Great, have a good night."
Yeah, leave Rafa to do the thinking :p
I like this plan, my entry route will be clipping the fence, meeting rafa at the building and miniwelding the circuits. Once you guys are in Rafa and I can take out the tiger's guards and locks, Doc hitting the spider. We can load up the Tiger, me and Rafa can exit through the fence, which I miniweld back together.
I can try fixing the wire fault too but I only have Hardware 1 and didn't bring my electronics kit
The team in the bar has done some 10 minute talking,
While the rest drove through the whole city, climbed on some tree's and buildings, killed the whole zoo (imaginary) and made a complet observation.
I think the bar team has at least enough time to steal a car or something similar. In other words, when your character called the team (in your last post), the bar team is probablu on their way already.
If talking our way in doesn't work, we can always stick n shock them the moment things start to go pear shaped.
What about we jam the signal of the guard at the service gate. Make some lights flicker, few minutes later we drive along with our van with a electronic company logo on it and tell the guard the spider called for us. Meanwhile the Spider is knocked out by the mage. Since everything is jammed, the guard can't call the spider or check our ID's. If the guard leaves his post to follow us, we knock him down; if not we are fine.
And just one small remark: what if the spider repairs the stuff himself instead of calling a tech crew?Doesn't sound like a spider's job to me, but if he did, wouldn't that be awesome? That spider's the trickiest part of security afaik. If he logs himself out, the whole security system's even weaker than it was before, no?
For all we know the 4 of them are chatting over their comms the whole time.
Once we do either of those, we need to either take 'em all out quick and clean or we need to get out before help arrives.
As for the van, pig's got a maintenance van. Sounds like what we need. Not the right colors, true. But they're there when expected to be there; they're a team sent there to deal with an emergency repair, wouldn't surprise me if that's not the same guys that do the electricity during the day shift. They could be working for the company with subcontracts -any company would rather have some people there instantly and pay a little extra than risk a breach of contract for a security-system that breaks down before it's actually in use.
Agreed, if no call is made or we can't intercept the call and say something like "Hey, you're in luck, we've got some of our guys nearby who just finished a job in the neighborhood, we'll send 'em over right away." , the plan's a bust.
So yeah, worst case: the two stealth guys get out, no alarm or suspicion was raised, all other options are still open. Doesn't really seem that bad.
Problem with knocking out or jamming guards: spider or guards might notice.

"look like a malfunction": find electrical wire, melt with miniwelder, must've short circuited. Sure, CSI would find that the temperatures aren't really right and the flame seems to have come from the outside; but if a electrical wire in a brand new system melts and there's nothing else missing or damaged in the building, who's going to be very suspicious?
So uhm, does the rigger semi-hacker think he can pull it off? If no, this whole issue isn't important anyway ;)
A spirit can poof behind the Spider and Influence him. He can turn off the cameras or security features and then the Spirit can then cast Stunbolt on the unsuspecting guy.I'm liking this plan.
The Spirit of Man might take 2-3 casts to bring him down, but down he'd go. I'd prefer we hack into the system to turn off the security cams so that the Spider can be influenced to take a piss or something instead and be stunned in the Men's room.
okay, we should try to make some malfunctions at the fence and see what's happening. what would stop us to wait for the real electronical service and take their van? the main road is under construction so they will properly take the service road, where unfortunatly the cameras in the first section went down during the malfunction (the zoo team take care of that coincidence). then we have a car and uniforms and all the stuff. We also don't have the problem that the hacker has do roll con-skills for his phone calls, just listen to the conversation. If the electronic guy doesn't come until next day or doesn't have the right car, we can still use another plan.
the big problem right now is the time difference, the team with the van and the hacker sitting in the bar and have make plans about dentists, while your char is still on the road. how do we explain that?
GM: can you tell us when and where is everybody, I lost the count a little bit, sry.

Yeah, I probably can. It'll definitely be a roll to use edge on. ;D We're talking mostly Exploit, Sniffer, and Spoof, right? Some Edit? (Pardon my ignorance on what programs do what; I don't usually play the tech.) I've got all that. She's just not built for Matrix combat.I assume you have to talk to the spider, when he trys to call the real eletrican:

Scan to find the outgoing call
Sniff to intercept it
Con to impersonate the eletrican
Waiting for the response from the others, Oni sends another short message:
Hey, why are we so sure that the camera man will call the electricans again and not for example the caretaker or so?Code: [Select]It won't matter who he calls if Boosts can intercept the signal.
In fact, if he calls someone we haven't thought of, we can keep
him occupied on the call long enough to get in position, spoof a
work order to my commlink and proceed from there as if he had
called in a tech. We're pretty well relying on some bleeding clockwork
to keep this plan on the rails anyway.
Play it by ear at this point
@ Everyone "Rafa/Nameless you're clear for the time being. I've spotted the three guards. We have one dealing with the construction crew, the other two are on the other side of the zoo, patrolling the parking lot and reptile area. Their dart shooting drone is off at the moment, so don't worry about needles in your asses. I also have the three light, generic RFID tags identifying us as electricians. Critter, Doc, Pig, Oni, which of us is rolling disguised as the crew and which of us are rolling in under the cover of darkness? I'm in the trees on the west side of the road to the zoo. I'll stay here until I've grabbed the call that goes out, then I'll come meet you guys. Where are you? If I can't grab the call, I'll stay here to help with the ambush. Sound good?
@ Jake Ellis "Met your guy, got the tags. Gracias, hombre, but next time could you find a delivery boy and little less drugged out?
Nervous about the next part of the plan (and her abilities to pull it off) Boosts kisses the Saint Frances of Rome and Saint Nicholas of Myra medals that hang around her neck.
This is why I asked where everyone was last night. It's gotten a bit confusing as to who is where.
Pig, and anyone riding with him, is cruising the major, safer roads 10-15 blocks away to be in 'Fast response time' if the call portion of the plan works. I'll drive right up the south road when it's time to rock.
Logic + Hardware 1, I can't even make that...
Can't we just ask the Boosts what best to do, showing her a camera stream from commlink camera/cybereyes?
Logic 3 + Kit 2 + Hardware 1 (6d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3110858/)
"Wait another 12?", Rafa whispered to his companion on the roof, "Good thing you brought booze, then... On second thought, let's see if we can find the kitty."
He walked silently to the north side of the roof and crawled over the edge, sticking to the wall like a gecko. He searched for the tiger's cage, listening for the nocturnal creature's sounds and looking for small barred windows of animal isolation cages.
I'd just been assuming that Crash would want to set the scene for the arrival, but I'll go with the flow.
Is Pig supposed to be pulled up alongside you or is he supposed to have gotten into your car?
"Okay, will do," Critter said, driving the pick-up truck over to where Pig was waiting. She took her sports rifle, her Predator IV and her sword and put it in the back beneath some other stuff except for the Predator, that could go in a normal holster as it wasn't that unusual this time of night to drive around armed. Her goggles and earbuds of course, as well as her respirator. She also put a medkit in the back, just in case, and she also had a small case with her lael shots in a pocket of her armoured vest.
hope the surgery goes well!
I can make his roles and let someone run him (or run him myself if need be). To be honest I had forgotten about the surgery.
Fortunately, my fingers are just about healed up so typing is coming easier to me now. I had gotten the joints of my pointer and middle finger, so I've been doing the hunt and peck method for the past few days.
Crash: The spirit doesn't need to manifest for mana based spells/powers like stunbolt/influence because it can aim at their aura only physical ones need the spirit materilised
[OOC: So that's 2 hits after roll one, 5 after roll two, 9 after roll three, 12 after roll four, 13 after roll five. No glitches. After what point do I break the Threshold?]
Don't Extended Tests accumulate? Its not an extended test
Well the section on it specifically states "Analyze + Firewall (hacker's Stealth) Extended Test".Argh well I think thats too hard
It's brute force, on anything other than personal toss away links it should get noticed fairly quickly.
I should probably be clear, with my aim action I intend to be as ducked down behind the door or dash panel of the truck as is possible in doing so. Not exactly hiding, but not leaning out a window or anything either.
I don't have any restraints on me, but stand down or not, Gripes is getting stunned. Hopefully he'll stand down and we can handle holding a stun baton against his neck until he passes out outside the realm of combat. Failing that, there's gonna be some shooting. Shoot, by now they've probably already called in to KE.
On a semi-related note: I'll be on vacation next week, monday 'til saturday-ish, probably won't be online during that time. To not delay the game, I'm okay with someone else taking over Rafa in the meanwhile... if there's any volunteers lemme know. If GM-almighty wants to do so or wants to take some other measures, that's okay too.Yes I did.
Whew... SIN+Con, I'm sure you guys can pull that off.
I hope everybody in the truck has dampers on. Given a Charisma 2, no Con, and SIN rating of 1, Orson's not planning on taking any chances here.
Orson Whales... last time I buy a fake SIN from a tweaking 'weener.
How long he can wait depends entirely on how long Boosts and Doc can delay this Mickey Mouse sec tec. ;) That'll be priceless if he's still busy checking a SIN or two and Nameless can bound out of the woods and set on him ghoul style.I hope everybody in the truck has dampers on. Also depends on if Gripes is dumb enough to poke his head in the window.
^ I hope so, wasn't too sure about that... a lot depends on the GM.
Prolonged exposure to some kinds of stuff can do pretty much damage, coke usually makes people happy too, but OD's don't.
But I figured if it "sometimes can be lethal to people with asthma", for it to kill a tiger would be a freak accident.
Rafa doesn't even think that much ;)
The digital die has been cast, let's see how it rolls? Is the grenade particularly loud?
Yeah, generally speaking the "boom" portion of a gas grenade is just enough to fracture the bladder that holds the gas in. Think single firecracker, contained in an armored shell, with just enough oomph to break a bladder and push open some vents. It'd come up as a mild pop followed by a hiss if the gas is under pressure in the bladder. The digital die has been cast, let's see how it rolls? Is the grenade particularly loud?
It should just release the gas, not explode
Oni hears something with 2 hits but doesn't see it with 6 hits?
Consider Pig to be taking aim one more time to max out his potential bonus, then delaying action pending the success or failure of Critter's bluff.
If Gripes makes any sort of aggressive move, or if it looks like he's not buying it, Pig'll unload a long, narrow burst on him. Otherwise, he'll just keep sweating in the truck with his eye on Gripes.

Here's hoping that Crtiter's bluff takes at least 3 for Gripes to think about. If it comes down to me or him shooting, I'd rather be on the giving than the receiving end. If Critter's bluff didn't work our cover is fragged anyway.
The gun isn't silenced is it? My character will be so angry at this.
You won't be there until the second pass of the next combat turn.
I asked for Oni's initiative in the IC post and rolled for you when I hadn't got it yet. You dropped to the ground and hid after initiative started.
[OOC: It should be like a surprise to, because he wasn't expecting to get shot in the back by his own drone. Right? So all those hits and whatnot go straight into awesomeness?]
Sorry for the slow posts. They keep calling me in early and working me late so its been hectic the past few days.
just to make sure, when you say 'that ends initiative' does that mean both guards are down? and we can go back to getting the tiger?
Theres a third somewhere
The spider was the third guard. With the spider, Gripes, and mouthy all down you've taken out the small amount of resistance from the zoo security.
The tiger's the only creature in the cloud? It's a 10m radius or something.
By the way, Farothel, did Critter put on a gasmask?
QuoteProviding I'm not held up be PigHe walked out of a shadow behind Critter, trying to keep out of the gas which he could see the shadows of on the astral, he'd been there sometime before Critter and thought Rafa hadn't noticed him. His tone was nicer than it was to Pig,
"Do it in your own time then Rafa. Don't drag us into your own thefts."

Honestly, I was just waiting on Crash to say whether I or not Nameless noticed and this instigates.
There's no way Pig is leaving an armed man with a commlink stunned on the road between him and escape without sanitizing any optical recording units. He let 3 of us in and almost certainly has images of me, Doc, and Critter, and my truck, possibly Critter's Fake SIN depending on how far into the bluff we got. If he does have any recording units those need to be sanitized, as do any records he has of the 3 of us on his commlink, or some of us are already caught and just waiting for facial recognition software to find and report us. If he doesn't, he still needs to be separated from his weapon and commlink or have them disabled or we're just asking to have an injured but conscious sec tec covering our exit covering our exit and calling KE. The guard that got droned is less of a liability, but is still armed and might wake up/become revived as well.
If sanitizing scenes and managing risks is going to be a problem, we may as well resolve it early on, preferably with dialogue rather than in-party combat.
Ok i'll let Onion Man reply to my original postIt looks like we'd be in two different spots in the timeline again if we do that. Not by as much time as before, but still...
Since we seem to get the tiger out of the cage easily, I assume the cheetah cage is equally easy? How many of them are there and are they all knocked out?
a snarl showing him a full set of teeth that make you a bit more hesitant than you were a second ago (Give me another Composure (2) test).Composure vs Fear (7d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3137173/) (2 extra dice vs fear)
Wrestle a leopard, are you nuts?
It's a cheetah.
Edit & Addendum: It's the cat's turn since Rafa sacrificed his action.
Critter put herself in Rafa's path, keeping her rifle so she could have it ready in an instant.
"And what exactly do you think you're doing," she asked, "If you want those cats, at least have the decency to carry them all, and not drag them by their tail. You should have respect for the things you hunt. Doc, get the tiger. If he wants the cats, he can take them out on foot. Let's get moving."

....
My god, you did not just do that to the pissed off ganger.
Typing a reply... will try to not automatically have this turn into bloodshed; though a lot will depend on Critter's ability to understand gangers as well as animals. (Hint: they really aren't much different: they don't usually respond friendly to challenges.)
@Crash: my character probably knows how much an animal like that would go for on the market (depends also on the assensing roll, if they are awakened or not). Can you give me an idea? It might help (if the cats are next to worthless, I might convince Rafa to leave them as it's more trouble then it's worth).
Have any tags been scanned and erased?
And I thought we took out the spider... won't he kind of realize somethings really wrong when he wakes up?

I won't ask for further details, thank you.
Hey sorry I've been out of it. The world outside of the Internet has gotten a bit rough. I will be back to posting normally tomorrow.I'm in the same boat. Had time to be online a bit but not really time to react when it would have been most appropriate.
Oh the places we'll go and the messes we'll make. :P At least we'll probably get paid... should have gotten something up front, or at least in escrow.
Well then lets get this cat handled before daylight and hope he wants someleopards.cheetahs

Also, if everything is book price, that PSG enforcer is going over 4000 already (if I have checked correctly).
