Looking over This Old Drone, and wondering if it is workable to upgrade them with better pilot, response, etc. as desired.

Yeah, but you're probably going to have to do the coding yourself, or have a contact that does work like that specifically. It's not likely that drones that old are still supported by their manufacturer. (Like trying to get updates for a Motherboard that's 10-20 years old.).
