Title: Need ideas for making a drone rigger
Post by: usefulidiot on <09-19-11/2053:48>
I am wanting to make a drone rigger that is also good with pistols. He will mostly use a few drones for extra fire support, surveillance, communications routing and jamming, and tacsoft. I dont want him to have to hide in a van or rigger cacoon and instead would like for him to be comfortable to be in the heat of the battle with pistols. I was thinking about making him an augmented / adept or maybe an augmented / technomancer. For chargen we are allowed 500 build points, up to 60 positive and negative qualities, charisma x 2 free contacts, and everything else follows the normal creation rules. I am open to any ideas and suggestions any of you have, this will be my first rigger and I have also never played a technomancer before either. I am looking for something a bit different, not a purist. Thanks for the input.

Technomancer doesn't seem bring a whole lot to the party for a rigger.. but I'd suggest that if you do, make sure to get a high Command complex form and get yourself some extra IP.. you can certainly afford reflex wireing 2 and remote control your drones while staying in the meat. I'm not an expert at this though. Good luck and have fun.

our Rigger had a cyberam. You can modify it for Agility 9, so you're good at shooting and you can fit your Hot-Sim module and a Nanohive for Rigger-Nanintes in it.

Take a look at the Mercenary Rigger in my sig for ideas; he's actually pretty similar to what you describe except he's just augmented, not awakened.

If you want to be "good with pistols," you probably want a mundane rigger, not a technomancer. You could probably do OK as an adept given that you have 500 bp and can afford to blow BP on buying up Magic and then losing some to augmentation.
