Ok so Im working on an awesome ARES corp Story line that will bring a group of "out of town" shadowrunners into Detroit. and will Crescendo into a Noir style Murder mystery. The only concern i have is I cant find ALOT of info about Detroit in Shadowrun cannon. other than some remarks about how ARES and Damien Knight is (in corporate guide, target ucas ect) from what i have read, it seems that Knight Errant has pretty much the main part of the city in their "jurisdiction" where outside of ARES interests LoneStar still Run things. (from the way i read some of the back story it seems that technically Lonestar is in control however they Dont cross Knight errant)
I also get the impression that Detroit is For prime runners only, due to very strict License requirements and that Shadowrunning is mostly done in the Detroit Underground, because not many Shadowwruners feel lucky enough to cross Ares in the city.
If i am misinterpreting anything please let me know, and if there is any other info on Detroit please fill me in and or let me know what books to read to find out. i want the run to be authentic as i can.

I don't know the EXACT sourcebooks, but the Neo-Anarchist's Guide to north America might have something for you. Also, any sourcebook detailing the UCAS is a good bet. i don't think much Detroit stuff has been published.

The only book that has covered Detroit is Target: UCAS, which has a 22-page chapter on Motor City. You can find a copy here (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=64109).
There are a couple of follow-up paragraphs (and by "a couple" I mean two paragraphs, and the shadowtalk is actually longer) in Shadows of North America. The only thing of note is Miss Tick's* comment about them building a wall around the metroplex and covering it with a biomass net. Sixth World Almanac says the wall went up, but the net did not survive initial contact with the rest of the board. Detroit also had 2% unemployment in 2070, which is ... Neat.
I haven't read Target: UCAS's Detroit or Boston (*spits*) chapter in a while, but I recall downtown is more controlled than usual because Ares' global HQ is there. However, there is still business to be done. As well, I understood the entire metroplex to be under Knight Errant. But if you have Target: UCAS you have 99% of the info on Detroit.
* I still can't read her many comments without thinking that this street witch/mage was accused of being Sheila Blatavska and thus Alachia by Elijah in Loose Alliances (*spits*) because there is no way in Hell Alachia is writing her posts.

Thanks I do have those books downloaded, but was concerned if they were not "to date" because of the time jump in editions. so in a way i supposed i have some leeway to be a little creative with. this is good to know, i just hope I dont hang myself with all the extra rope i get to sling! LOL

you know, I just might compile the information on various cities into netbooks. One per city. Could be fun.

Detroit's not too bad off. Target: UCAS was in 1997 and is in a modern style that we still generally follow.
DeeCee hasn't been touched since 1990, and NAGNA is written unlike anything else.
@Mason Don't forget Pegasus' 192-page Berlin sourcebook that will probably never be translated. Or the Marseilles, Lille, and Hanover chapters the French and Germans added to existing books.
Hell, Cyberpirates! alone is a tricky beast in parts as some cities don't officially exist.

I heard there was a BIG Detroit Online MUX game, I been trying to see if they made a "netbook" for that somewhere but apparantly its been down for some time, so im not getting any luck.

I can't read german, and my French sucks...waaah.
