Title: Help me build an escaped clone
Post by: Pyromaster13 on <10-11-11/2118:00>
I've had an interesting idea either as a player character or an NPC.  I noticed the Escaped Clone and Evil Twin quality and I thought, what if a gene baby escaped from the corp, and what stats would he have?

So the general character I'm going for is essentially just a mundane human who is a simple type O organ donor clone to which a corp was testing cultured bioware on.  Then he escapes somehow, that story I could use some help on.  I gave him a very high edge attribute so he can possibly have some dumb luck assist his escape.

He's as barebones as barebones can get since I don't see a new person to the world having alot of skills, or any good ones for that matter, so no skills go above 2.

Well here's what I've got so far.

Maybe somebody made a run against the facility and you escaped in the confusion.
Wasn't there a serie a couple of years back with a chick that was combined with animal genes and she was on the run?
You could maybe argue that he has som physical skills as "remebered reflexes" from the person he is cloned from?

I like the concept but he is very much Joe Average and not really good at anything.
Bur for the roleplaying experience of growing and learning through playing him i guess it would work fine. Yuo just has to have a team that will justify having him on their runs, so I don't think he will work well if the rest of the characters are specialists with 12-16 or more dices in their main areas.

Sounds like a pretty good idea... You mind if I steal it?

I'd rather go with Genecrafted than Type-O. Get a lot of Geneware and maybe some animal feature bioware, as under the rules of transgenetics.
Incompetence (Street Knowledge) sounds pretty cool actually :P It's not RAW I think, but I'd let it pass

Go ahead.

I can always easily replace the expensive synaptic boosters and have him have the usual stuff like muscle toner and augmentations, and being Type O I can say he was growing it for a future sale, but then he escaped with the ware and he would be more 'useful' as a street sam.

The only real reason I went for synaptic boosters is because every shadowrunner, at one point in the game would like to get rating 3 synaptic boosters (or deltaware ones for a whopping 1.2million), saying they will save the money for it, but it's cheaper and more effective simply to get a missile launcher or a better gun once the game starts.  So I wanted to reverse it, and grab the synaptic boosters 3 every dream build has first, then buy the cheap(er) guns are 'ware afterwards.  It may seem out of place but I felt I had to sneak it into at least one public build.

As I wrote earlier it is a cool concept but a weak build.
4 IP isn't worth much when your basic dicepool for shooting people in the face is 6. Personally I would rather shoot once or twice with a bigger chance to hit.
So I suggest you tweak the build a little to be a little more of a specialist. Softcap primary attributes and lower some other to 2. Drop the expensive skill groups for close combat and firearms and focus a little more on the one or two skills you will use the most.

But best luck and have fun playing him. I actually had a friend that played a clone in SR3. He was a fun character and as a GM I had plenty of opportunities to throw things at him from his past.

There's a lot of really cool bioware and he only has one bit.. Maybe branch out a bit? Knocking your synaptic boosters down a rating would free up a whole lot of points, allowing you to pick up muscle toner for an offensive boost along with platelet factories for a defensive boost. Restricted Gear is a pretty expensive option, unless it's critical for your concept I'd try to avoid having to take it.

I'd also suggest a synthcardium, and drop athletics SG down to 1. It would make sense for him to have powerful bioware to boost his athletic ability rather then much in the way of experience.

Type O system is expensive, but makes Bioware's already small essence cost tiny and fits in well with your concept. I'd suggest that you keep it, but make an effort to buy lots of bioware.

Good idea with the synthacardium, but you can read why I put syn boosters 3 in the previous response.

I actually shuffled the augmentations dropping the syn boosters entirely to make a more rounded character giving the clone these new augments:
Bone Density 4
Synthacardium 3
Platlet Factories
Suprathyroid gland (the new restricted gear)
Muscle augment 2
Muscle toner 2
Symbiotes 2
Wired reflexes 1

I also considered changing the negative qualities to just:
Uneducated
Permanent Infusion

I would keep Incompentence (Street Knowledge). I think it will be so much fun to play. A lot like the two escaped clones from 'The Island' that really don't have a clue to basic stuff like humor, sarcasm, and basic morallity because they have never been confrontet with it before.

Your new bioware setup looks a lot more useful now  :)

Dark Angel. season 1 was pretty good, season 2 was monster of the weak.
