So, I see you made an addition to street legends. 10 people! Whew! Is one of them Harlequin? I'd like to see what happened between Harlequin's Back and 2073.
-
According to the Table of Contents... Yes...
-
Yup he is. And kudos to the author of the background piece for him. All word of mouth, all the time. Very different then most of the bios in Street Legends. Very cool.
Having cherry picked through the book so far, I have to say I am pleased with the bios that have been presented. Having read Harlequinn, Buttercup, Kane and Slammo! so far I was very entertained.
And /dev/grrl/, ROFLMAO is all I can say. Too damned funny.
-
My favorite part of that was Fastjack saying "Impressive. I didn’t think anyone would be able to do that with this code but
me. Still, don’t do that."

Which, you know, is an old man's way of saying, "Do as I say, not as I did." considering what he was probably doing at her age. ;D

Which is probably the only reason he didn't zap her for doing that.

Just bought it. Just read the Harlequin thing and FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFRAAAAAAAG!
But i hope this means a third Harlequin Campaign. I absolutely LOVED Harlequin and Harlequin's Back. This has made me giddy as a green runner with his first payout!

The street legends books are great.
They are really entertaining and it really brings the NPC to live.
That a good (and very unique) approach to present stats for NPC for another purpose than to be part of a bestiary :)
To be honest I really enjoyed the first street legends, with Nadja, Lofwyr and Rumyo, but the update with Knight, buttercup and harlequin is like a christmas gift for old players :D
I was only surprise not to find fastjack, but that is fine, he is not a street legend, he is a shadow legend :-*

Do you honestly think he'd let his personal information show up anywhere for two seconds? Since he's the Chuck-Norris of the 'trix, (You young runners might not recognize the name.) files are only on the matrix because he allows them to remain undeleted.

Perhaps Netcat can do his writeup, after a visit to the Resonance Realms. The Resonance never forgets, they say...
-
Even the Resonance is scared of FastJack. ;D

Or he got Perri to remove his files from the Archives.

Many thanks, I'm glad to see that some people on here liked it. : )

Honestly, what I enjoyed the most about the background is that while there is some information available, it is all still almost entirely subjective. Its all predicated on the honesty of Bull, Saint James and of the team of runners in question. You can take it as fact, or not at your option. And with an NPC like Harly, he is more then capable of having blurred the lines of reality through illusion, mind control, etc.
So ultimately if you love it, run with it, if you hate it, ignore it, if you are not sure, well maybe the elf just fragged with them all.
-
The elf is ALWAYS fragging with you.
Never. Trust. An. Elf.
Bull :)
-
Even the Trailer Trash Elves from the CAS who can barely keep their mobile homes from falling apart?
-
Especially those.
-
Especially those.
"Hey, Ma! Come lookit these funny folk what think we rule tha' world!" "Hell, boy, if'n that was true, you'd think we'd live in this here tornado magnet???"
-
Now I'm trying to recall the percentage of Elves in the CAS. I know it's low, but not *how* low.
...
TO THE BOOKS!
-
Not low enough that I'm sure there's some in Trailer Parks being White Trash. ;D
Hell, the idea of Redneck Elves back home is hilarious.
"Dad, are you sure this is a good idea? That is five CASES of Dynamite." "You just hold my beer and watch this!"
-
Now I'm trying to recall the percentage of Elves in the CAS. I know it's low, but not *how* low.
According to Shadows of North America (2062), 4% of the CAS population were elves. That's the second lowest percentage (after Tsimshian 2%), the average in North American countries being around 10%. With 4.2 millions elves, it nonetheless is the second largest elven population in North America (18.9 millions elves in the UCAS, 4.0 millions in Tir Tairngire).

Redneck elves are far less dangerous than their cousins, redneck trees.
-
Redneck trees...oh geez. I do wonder if such things are possible in the Sixth World though.
-
I am picturing Treebeard speaking in a Southern drawl now.

NSFW: Redneck Trees (http://somethingpositive.net/sp05042002.shtml).
Don't say I didn't warn you.

"Keep running, I still hear the banjos!!!"

10d10 + 15 cornhole (does not include mental damage)

Wanted to say that I really like the artwork in the book, especially Harlequin's pic. Harlequin went from character I didn't really care about to guy I definitely want to see more of in future works. I had the exact opposite reaction to /dev/grrl. The write up of Kane was half about her and since she was the poster, it made her look very self-centered and egotistical IMHO. Also; I thought Slamm-O! was suppose to physically fit and attractive? I guess he really let himself go after he found out Netcat was preggers. :D

Thank you!
My personal feeling was that there were more ELves in the CAS, but the wealthier ones bugged out when Tir na Nog opened up, then there was a second exodus when Tir Taingire was created... each one drew Elves out of the CAS, which was openly racist. Quite a few other metas also left, but the ELves were wealthier, so more of them made it out. The tuskers found that the road wasn't quite so welcoming. (Troll hitchhiker vs Elven gal ... which one gets to Portland first?)
Interesting to see that there are more Elves in the CAS than in the Tir, however.

Redneck trees...oh geez. I do wonder if such things are possible in the Sixth World though.
Oh, it could be worse, and my brothers below the Mason-Dixon will weep upon reading this.
Awakened Kudzu.

As far as I know, Tir na nOg never engaged into a policy of welcoming all foreign elves. When Liam O'Connor became prime minister and changed the "description of the state" (as they put it) from "Republic of Ireland" to "Tir na nOg" in 2034, he initiated a rather nationalist policy. Ireland did have as much as 40% of elven birth after the Awakening. So the idea was, elves were a major part of the Irish identity, but not the other way round. Unlike Tir Tairngire, I'm not sure Tir na nOg ever claimed to be an "elven nation". They were far more subtle. On the other hand, there probably was a significant elven immigration nonetheless, just for the fact that elves from other countries would think Tir na nOg would be a nicer place to live for them because elves are not a minority there. Elves born on the continent and moving to Tir na nOg with no knowledge of Gaelic or Sperethiel and the Celtic heritage may be disappointed (well, it could be worse: think about an English elve trying to settle in Tir na nOg...).
The founders of Tir Tairngire had the Salish-Shidhe government opening its border to metahumans as early as 2029, six years before the secession. The whole point was to have a strong elven population in the area before making their move. It worth noting there was only a very small number of elven birth before 2011. By the time Tir Tairngire was established, the vast majority of its elven population would have been under 25 (if you ask me, the authors made a msitake by setting Tir Tairngire establishment date so early in the timeline). Maybe some came with their human parents, but otherwise, people rarely qualify as "wealthy" at such a young age.

Yeah. Good luck with that.. It doesn't work for the real stuff, what makes you think it'll work for the Awakened variety?
-
That's just because people don't use enough fire. Repeated saturation bombings with napalm.
-
Considering that Awakened kudzu is currently in Chicago...
Firebombing might just make it angry...
-
Spray it with more FAB III.

Time for another nuke? :P

Time for another nuke? :P
This will be really weird.... but this can be something to think to for a campaign.
Shall ARES fall after that? ::)
-
Time for another nuke? :P
No, no, no. You're thinking too small.
Multiple coordinated THOR shots in a sustained barrage. Make a new Great Lake.

Great, now I've got the 1812 Overture stuck in my head.
