Post by: Gamma12 on <01-23-12/1055:27>
Hello everyone I need atleast 4-6 players to play the campaign. I will also need your character in character sheet form so heres a link to a pdf that you can edit ( http://www.daemonstorm.com/role-playing/shadowrun/Shadowrun-Character-Sheet ).After the campaign you all will be awarded a lump of karma to use on the next game i will post up. I will trust you guys enough to roll for your self but some rolls will be rolled in secret, to see where the game goes. Send all the Character Sheets and a description of your character to my email: lancegordon15301@yahoo.com.

Thanks yall and hope to be playing soon.

Some questions.

1) Standard 400BP?
2) Any restrictions on chargen?
3) Any house rules in effect?
4) Any books not in play?

That out of the way, I've got a rigger or a street samurai I'd love to play. I'll get to work getting the sheets together.

== Background ==
Smith grew up as the only son of a career Tir military Senior NCO (Command Sgt. Major). Smith's latent magical abilities were discovered during his teeage years and he was groomed to become a member of the Tir military from relatively young age by his father and his magical trainers. He became a Non-commissioned Officer, eventually becoming a team leader (Staff Sgt.)., even though was offered a position as a comimssioned officer because of his magical abilities out of respect for his father. Smith was an armorer and weapons specialist for the Tir border patrol. During this time he became increasingly disillusioned with the Tir military politics and cronyism. This disillusionment culminated in his assault on his, politically well connected, platoon leader after the platoon leader led the platoon into an obvious and avoidable ambush on the Tir border. He was allowed to leave service under honorable conditions because his exemplary service record up to that time and his father called in favors with friends in the military. The platoon leaders family also didn't want a record their child's incompetence and embarrassment to become part of the official record, but the platoon leader made it clear he was not done with Smith. Smith was "asked" as a condition of his "clean" exit from service to leave Tir and so the friends and family of his (former) platoon leader wouldn't be able to retaliate against him outside of official channels for embarrassing his former platoon leader, the scion of a power Tir family. Smith left Tir under a false SIN to avoid notice and recently traveled to Seattle to work as a mercenary/shadow runner until the family of his former platoon leader are no longer in a position to retaliate against him.

Smith is a well adjusted individual, a product of an essentially middle class upbringing. He values quiet competence, professionalism and loyalty to the team and mission.

Weapons Adept: A magically attuned elven weapons smith and weapon specialist.

== Notes ==
Tir SIN due to military service.

If I can come up with a character, I may be interested. I do need more information though on what kind of game it'll be so that I could try to make an appropriate character. (I don't want to end up with something like a Troll Tank-Buster in a game for infiltration.)

Also you did not mention: Cha x 2 Contact points or no?

City or country, where it takes place, to adjust our backgrounds and local street knowledge skills accordingly. Maybe even style of game, so you don't get all combat whores, when you are looking for some other specifics or well spread team roles. Lets just hope "Mr. Johnson" is wise enough to pick the right people for his job ;) Taking the title as reference, it might get bloody...

Gamma, I took a second look at the adept power costs and there are some discrepancies between the rule books and the character sheet.  Which do you want me to use.  With the character sheet I sent you I wanted to be conservative so I used the most expensive adept power cost.  Let me know which values you want me to use.

I used the chummer software to build the character and it's values match the values from the rule books as far as I have been able to tell.

Thanks  for the game.

Wretch you can use the Chummer one. Also lethe that is fine i can use the final draft you posted up.
And we have our full cast of runners:
Tachikoma (Mikiron)
Smith (Wretch)
Akuma (Kouryuu)
Wicca (Lethe)
DataMiner (Vinnmum)

And the backdrop to the story is, you will start in Seattle, but then move to another place when the time of the game comes around. Middle of winter. Its ofcourse 2072. The air is full of the fantastic scents of candy and printing for valentines day.You all are in your respectable housesholds and waiting to be contacted by a johnson. Is Everyone ready to start up? And are there anymore questions. You will be fighting alot and some hacking will be involved, but mostly it will be a man hunt. So just let me know when you want me to start it up.

Well, Tachikoma shouldn't have as much trouble surviving, but yes, let's have a lot of fun. ;)

Tachikoma can provide Comm support, since it has a good Encrypt program, and the Tower drone means that they can be sure of having good signal in a wide area. Also, when in social situations outside the Matrix, Tachikoma tends to work through the 'Transmorphing Space Ninjas' drone. It is a competing model to the Bust-a-move, but is more like something you'd see out of Power Rangers.

*shrug* Kindof pointless to get into pissing matches like this, but heck, until we get started, sure. Three aerial drones open up on you with LMG fire, mix of ExEx and SnS, no ground units in sight.

Tachikoma is a rigger, Kouryuu. An AI rigger, at that. No matter how nasty the troll is in combat, there are only a few very specific ways that an AI can be killed. So, barring some specific circumstances, Tachikoma will survive. The drones might not, but Tachikoma will.

AIGHT!

The Gory Days

So your all in your homes or place of residence. Its mid winter around valentines day and it is freezing outside in the streets of Seattle. You can smell the scent of candy hearts and perfume in the air. Seattle has been lite up with a pinkish tint for the celebration. Looking out the window, you see couples sitting at tables and you see venders selling roses. Then all of the sudden a bounty comes over your commlinks, it show a man that is in his late thirties and has a huge scar on his right eye. No name is given, but a message is attached to the picture. It reads:

Hello,
I will pay you and the associates that you will meet very shortly, 500,000 Nuyen for this man dead or alive.
After this message is read it will delete immediatly and dont try and found out who i am. In time that knowledge will make itself know. You might find out a location or even a name at "The Rusty Bucket Bar" in south Seattle.

I will contact you all later to check in. Have fun

                     -Mr.J

After the message was read it automatically closed out and locked the signal, but the picture was download on to your commlinks.

Post by: Mirikon on <01-26-12/1615:56>
Tachikoma read the message, and then looked at the picture. This was what they called a shadowrun, then, yes? It wasn't exactly as interesting on the face of it as the movies it had seen on the Matrix made it look, but perhaps things would get better over time. And the money could do a lot to keeping its drones maintained, and possibly arranging for a few new ones, as well. Bringing up the picture in active memory, Tachikoma spent eleven minutes with it's scan program, searching the Matrix for information on the person in this picture, and any information it could get on the Rusty Bucket Bar.

Akuma had just finished an execution for the Yaks. It did go smooth, but still he nevr liked these kind of jobs.
still a bit irritated but feeling much better after reading his, what might be, ticket out of the organisation monopoly over him, decided to call up a yak from the region as he always does before a job " yo, Yama, got a job in your region, "The Rusty Bucket Bar", anything notable?"
He hid his sword in one of the false exhaust pipes and started to travel on his chopper to the place, at least the grid guide knows the place.
and in his head he counted minutes it took to receive a answer to his voice mail, he kept a record on these kind of things

Dataminer was doing his normal matrix surfing when the message pops up, "What do we have here...." he reads the message and nearly chokes on the bag of porkrinds when he sees the nuyen and notices the picture download into his commlink, never was in the kill business but hope this "crew" has....well they should be...it's only logical he thinks. Ellie sat in her apartment and was bored. Normally she spends most of her time outside, but in the winter its too cold. She likes it warm. Curiously she read the message a second time. "Now that guy must have pissed someone off. I wonder, what he did. Hehe, as long as its to my advantage... Getting a message from you-dont-know-who, offering a lot of money for some meat. Nothing really new, but kinda sparse. How shortly might "very shortly" be. Probably going to meet them in that Bucket.. Maybe i should check it out." Ellie mumbles silently to herself. "Well, its too cold for my scoot, i better call a cab." After she called the cab, she dressed in her armor jacket and fetched her tiny backpack. "Better be prepared, i don't want to stumble in anything." Having said that, Ellie gathers some energy and calls forth a small fire spirit, a little flame, which if not needed otherwise, could at least warm her up out there. "Thank you for coming." Then she waited for the cab.

Smith reads the message and thinks, "so this is what the shadows are like, so different than being a soldier."  He calls a friend, no a contact, unlike the military these people of the shadows are not friend.  I must be careful to not be too trusting.

"Jordan find out what you can about this person in the image I am sending you and this and a location called Rusty Bucket.  I need the information ASAP.  I will call for a SITREP in 1 hour."

Smith begins his preparations for the meeting: an inventory and inspection of his equipment.  This ritual always calmed his nerves before a mission.  His thought begin to clear as he begins to clean his Ares Predator and he begins to focus on the mission.  "Receive the mission, mission prep and recon, maybe this isn't such a different world after all."

The drone-operated cab arrived a few minutes later, painted green and white. Once inside Ellie gave the orders "The Rusty Bucket Bar". During the long drive Ellie used her commlink to get some information about the bar and the local news articles for that area in the last week. "If that guy is worth so much, maybe there will be some hints in the news about what he might have done."
45 minutes later the cab arrived at the bar. Satisfied about her discoveries, she paid the 64 Nuyen and stepped out on the opposite side of the street. She shortly examined the bar from the outside, then she focused on the inside of the bar while casting a Mana Window to have some detailed looks inside there. No surprises, she will be well prepared.

Smith calls for transport pays his cab and watches the bar from the street observing the comings and goings of patrons and staff.  He watches specifically for, where are the entrances and exits, the location and disposition of security and finally who are the patrons and are the armed.

No data is found on the man in the picture. The rusty bucket bar is a fairly sized bar with a grungey kinda feel. The man that runs this place is named zed and he is bartending waiting on people upon all of your arrivals. He is a orc with a orange mohawk and tatoos on his arms. He leans back on the bar cleaning a glass. The Rusty Bucket has mild security, but you notice that every bouncer is and orc and is carrying atleast one heavy pistol. You can also tell that the exit of the bar is in the back. The mood is chilled, and no know activity other than a few elfs in the corner playing pool. Zed turns around and looks into the bar.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

Dataminer enters wearing his black hoodie, hood up projecting a holo image over his face of traditonal japanese mask of a tengu, his actual face is barely seen through it. He turns it off though as soon as he stepped in, he only wears it went wandering around the town. He's wearing olive drab cargo pants with the end of the pant legs half tucked into his work boots rigged with the laces aren't tied. He looks around with an air of an attitude like he's the shit as he looks around for a johnson looking figure only to see a few sparse orks and some elves playing pool.

Not finding any information on the target through the Matrix, Tachikoma fires up its drones, and heads out of the warehouse it calls home. The Tower flies overhead, allowing for increased matrix presence, and the Bulldog heads out at the front of the convoy of land vehicles, the two flying drones stored in it's landing docks. The two land-based combat drones roll after, chameleon coatings coming into effect, causing them to blend into the background.

Pulling up in front of the Rusty Bucket, the door of the van opens, allowing the little toy ninja drone to hop out, and begin walking for the door. Climbing up on a barstool, the drone displayed an AR window, showing the picture Tachikoma had been given, and Tachikoma's voice projected from the toy's microphone. "HI! Have you seen this man? A friend of mine would really like to find him." It sounded almost like a kid's voice.

Dataminer looks as a toy ninja struts pass him and just out right chuckles, he's read on the forums the many ways riggers present themselves and he could only figure this guy must be part of the crew that is being put together with him, he can deal with that. He walks over to the bar, takes a seat and observes for a bit and than giggles to himself as the ninja speaks.

Seeing those strangers enter the bar, she had the feeling that those people are not here to hang out and drink a beer. But not later than the little toy popping out the image on the AR screen she gasped. In a quite giggle to herself: "It seems, i am not the smallest one in this hunt." Then she  prepared herself for going into the bar. Dropping her extended sense and when sure nobody was looking, she disguised herself as a sturdy dwarf, little bit taller than herself, full black bearded in one of the latest fashion suits she saw advertised in the trid. She crossed the street and while entering the bar, she asked spider to reveal everyone, who might want to harm her. Going straight for the counter, where the toy was sitting.

Zed looks suprised, and regains composer. "Never seen him before in my life." He continues to lighting up a cigarette and puffing smoke around the air around him. No signs of hostility is noticable but all of you notice that the bouncers have heavy pistols. Zed looks at the orc that came in. "Give me a second friend." he says to Tachikoma. He then goes with the orc go in to the back of the bar. The elves in the background have starting singing typical bar songs. Its apparent they are all drunk and becoming very annoying.

The drone toy does not look discouraged at the man's words, but instead turns to look at the others in the room. Turning to the woman next to the drone, the AR window changed to split screen, the second half revealing what looked like a blue spider tank icon, like something out of an anime. "Hi! Have you seen this man? A friend of mine would really like to meet him."

Turning towards the ninja: "Uumm.. you are a funny little... what are you... hmm, nice spider, i like spiders!" Then whispering: "I don't think we should advertise the idea we are looking for that man too publicly. I could see that image from the other side of the street!" Ellie winked at him. Looking up at the tall man: "I concur. Did J say, how many associates we are going to meet here?" To the toy again: "What did you say, to scare the barkeeper away so fast!"
Concentrating intensely to where the barkeeper went, she mumbled: "Let me see - what they are doing."  Sustaining two spells was quite an effort already and gathering the strength to cast another one was demanding. Her field of vision shifted and she was standing in the other room, observing what the barkeeper and the orc needed the privacy for.

The spider tank cocked its head to the side in the AR window, and one mechanical arm came up to make a show of scratching its head. "Why not? We need to find him, and I could not find information on him through the Matrix. But I'm not used to these things. And I don't know why he left. This drone isn't even armed. If I had brought the others, I would understand, because for some reason people don't like guns pointed at them. So I used this one, since it is not threatening. Did I make a mistake?"

Ellie has astrally projected a window into the room and successfully can listen in (Its a wooden wall). She sees Zed and the other Orc talking to a big screen. The man on the screen is an man with long black hair and a respirator on his face to help him breathe. "Well what are we going to do? We need to get Red back into containment as soon as possible."  The orc says. The man breathes in heavily. "You dont think I now this! *Gasps* Zed, any information on Project Red yet? "We believe that he is hiding somewhere in town. Since this so recent that he escaped, he might be among the rift raft in down town." Zed says. "I dont want thoughts I want information.*Gasps* So go to downtown. *Gasps* And kill everyone that you see that isnt the target. *Gasps* Leave no witnesses." The screen turns off and Zed and the other orc look at each other. Zed, "What about the person outside asking about him?" The other orc pulls an assault rifle out of the wall filled with weapons that appears behind him. "We must obey The Operator. Kill him." They start to send messages to the bouncers reading,"Kill the person at the bar." And on the bouncers commlinked sunglasses, instantly targets Tachikoma.

Yama did not answer, interesting, would that mean that all of the Redmond HQ yaks had been killed and leader killed or would Akuma have to go and do it himself for this insolence.
He arrived at the bar, took out his Sword and went inside, better to be accused of killing everybody inside then being killed.
Opening the door just at the moment when The AR picture of the target was shown, he directly knew who was the one showing it, small toy ninja drone, but for now Akuma decided wait and see how it turns out. he sat down at the bar, activating his Radar sensor to see the situation around him.

At the words 'And kill everyone that you see that isn't the target' Ellies heart started pounding heavily. "They want to get rid of us! Get ready." she warned the other two. She dropped all her current spells except for the physical mask and activated her power focus. "How to get out of here..."
Her eyes took a quick look around to get a grasp of the situation. The giant troll, that took a seat at the bar, while her sense was gone, didn't make her feel any better. She felt small.. very small.

Is it ok for me to do this?  i've been warned ahead and i want to prevent us from being surprised by the sudden assault. initiative next? or is it even possible for me to surprise the bouncers(how many, map) at the entrance and try for a run?

"Leave that to me!" Tachikoma said.

Turning to the bouncers, the drone said, "Excuse me, sirs, but could you please look out the window?" And they might want to considering that at that point two combat drones, one a Steel Lynx and the other something that appeared to be a small tank, both with LMGs mounted on the weapon mounts, decided to drop their masking, with the guns pointed towards the bouncers from the outside. "Would you please hand your weapons to my friend here?" The drone, waved an arm to Ellie.

The Barkeep and his bouncers taking out weapons and shooting unprovoked even in spit of being not up to the challenge - Akuma new foul play, when he saw it - this must be ended as fast as possible. Few adjustments to his Move-by-wire, thanks to the Idiot who shot his rollers, and he was fighting ready, and not a moment to soon as Zed and one of his orcs was just about to pass behind him.
Akumas muscle tensed a bit more and then they just moved like a flash, his sword moved even faster and Zed was taken by surprise by the new combatant. Both Zed and the Ork found themselves at the Melee range of Akuma. Akuma's intention was simple knock them down, from the floor they will have no chance of harming him.
If i get the surprise then the ready weapon is in there, if not then Akuma's unarmed attack should do.
Sword - 11P -2AP damage - Because of Knockdown Stun damage. so 11S
Unarmed 7S
knock-down if (13+Akuma net hits) > (Zeds body)
Akuma Takes the first Swing at Zed(6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3355008/)

if i am not mistaken, according to the rules, Akuma never stated that he is part of the faction who is searching for the Man in the photo, so his attack comes as a surprise to everyone, but as you prepare to do a battle yourself you could get +3 on that.
so until the GM rules on this we might roll surprise - INI+3

The two drones make good on their threat, and open up with a pair of short bursts each, each drone aiming at one of the trolls. Clearly, Tachikoma is not shy about unleashing firepower on threats. The bursts from the Steel Lynx are particularly well-grouped. While this is going on, the little space ninja drone scuttles down off the barstool, and finds someone to hide behind.

"Oh damn" shrieked Ellie as the noise of the weapons fire clanged in her ears. Not very fond of firefights, Ellie hid her small body - slightly shaking - under the counter, sliding to the edge of the room.

Thinking that the behavior of the bouncers didn't seem all too natural, she switched to her astral vision to have a look at them, while at the same time distorting the mana in the area to hamper the use of any magic. Bullets are already bad enough.

Free action: get into cover
Simple action: switch to astral perception
Free action: announce spell defense on everyone in sight, even on the bouncers.

Akuma, with his sword hit the soft tissue of Zed's stomach. He coughs a little bit of blood, and his eyes roll over. His torso then flyes back so does his body, crushes numerous bones in the middle of his body. The ork is stunned by the sight he has seen and then snaps back to the situation.  As this is happening, Steel Lynx and Tachikoma fire on the two trolls, Steel lynx, hits the troll it was targeting  with 2/4 shots. The troll buckles down, but then stiffens back up again. Tachikoma's shots miss the troll one of the right and the other barely missing on the right side of its head. As Ellie was taking cover she noticed that when the troll buckled down, sparks came out of the silver wound of the troll.
