Title: Does the Imp. Reflexes spell help you in the Matrix?

So let's say I'm a mage and I have a Force 3 Improved Reflexes spell sustained on myself by way of a rating 3 sustaining focus.  I then jack into the matrix.  Are my initiative and initiative passes increased by +2 each?

We had a mage who had to step in when the hacker got knocked out. Sustaining foci, Analyze Device on the commlink, and Increased Reflexes maxed out. She did an alright job. :)

Personally, I tend to think that Analyze Device, similar to Attunement (Device) should not give any boni for hacking.

Indeed. You do not actually use the device when hacking. You use the programs. All the device does is give you access to those programs.

In this case, thankfully, the mage only needed to rewrite a program already in there. They used Analyze Device for Edit. If that spell made a mage an instant hacker... well, that would just be broken.

As the mage didn't (and wasn't able to) use the Analyze Device spell onto the edit program - just the comlink itself -  imho, he should get no bonus for it. But that's, as I have to admit, only a personal opinion, as I don't want magic to be able to reach too far into the electronic sphere, that's what technomancers are for.

Just like the modification Customized Interface ( ImO)

I let it slide as a tortoise effect. I get where you are coming from, though. I see Analyze Device as a backup kind of thing.

there is a way to add a pass with vr with Simsense Booster. Augmentation p 36-37
