Title: Is it possible to start with an A.I. "companion"?
Post by: Combatparker on <04-20-12/1037:12>
Hey all I am new to Shadow run, but am playing with a more experienced group for the first time. My DM mentioned something about being able to have an  A.I. that can run your PAN and do minor hacking jobs for you. Since I am playing a street samurai my first time through I figured this would be an extremely handy thing to have but cant seem to find it in the books, Unwired, or runners companion, and he cant remember where he read it. If someone could give me a hand I would really appreciate it!

Maybe not a "Companion", but a high Loyalty Contact, sure.

Did your GM say "Agent"?  They're not AIs (not sentient) - they're only as smart as a trained dog, but they can accomplish the things you're mentioning (if you buy them the right programs).

They're on pg 330 of the core rulebook.

Agent is the correct word.

(But keep an eye out for a thing I'm working on. Don't think it'll make it in time for GenCon, but.)

There's a nice buyable Agent in Unwired which is almost exactly what you're looking for.

I'd look it up, but I'm busy right now.
