Original post:
I might be interested inam running a PvP game. It wouldwill be strictly Free-For-All combat, no story more elaborate than "Let's find out which one of you is the most lethal."
I'm asking for two things:
1. A "Sure, I'm interested"-like message if you are indeed interested in something like this, so I know if I should start preparing. Recruitment has started, see rules below.
2. Thoughts and insight on how a game like this should be run.
Currently in my mind:
* Pretty much everything will happen through PM's. Otherwise players could cheat too easily.
* The full events will be posted after the fight is over.
* A map will be posted when the game starts, without the locations of the players of course. This map may or may not show everything that's in the area. Players should describe their actions (through PM) as detailed as possible. What do they look for, in which direction, what's in their hands; heck, even the characters thoughts would be interesting, specifically to make it a lot more fun to read for the spectators later. Anything not mentioned is either not being done at all or is decided by myself as I see fit in the situation. (I will not post PM's asking to do this and do that, it'd slow down the game too much. More detailed instructions will follow.)
Houserules:
- Karmagen, 720 karma. (Stats are Rating x 5, NOT x3. Race costs karma equal to its BP cost.)
- Free knowledge skills, same as with BP build rules.
- Do not spend points on Contacts.
- Advanced Combat Rules in Arsenal (p161) are included. I’ll admit to sometimes forget/overlook some of them and am not prepared to lose lots of time looking it up for every attack, just know that shooting at microdrones tends to be tougher than shooting at trucks and that strong people can handle more recoil. Stuff that makes sense, you know.
- Direct Combat Spells get +2 drain.
- Conjuring skillgroup or any of its seperate skills are banned. (In short, no spirits.)
- Softweave armor mod is banned. --It's not generally that bad, but can easily get too cheesy and there's no real reason to have it in game.--
- War!: 'Slow' spell is banned. (It's actually already been errata’d out in the German books.)
- War!: MRSI, works with mortars and artillery, probably also with a well coordinated missile attack. It does NOT work with grenade launchers or bows!
- Mystic Adepts follow the rules as written in SR4A, NOT the stuff mentioned in the SR4 FAQ. (I don't consider this a houserule but I'll mention it regardless to avoid trouble later.)
- Firearms used in melee can be defended against with melee defense.
- No AI, Free Spirits, no Infected, no Non-Metahumans.
- Fight 'til Death*, just stunning is not good enough. If another player kills the opponent you stunned, tough luck.
- No Cheating. Mistakes can and will happen, if possible they will be corrected. The moment I suspect cheating, the player is kicked & banned. Rolling takes place on Invisible Castle, always with the same account and name, all rolls are to be explained in the Note field (eg: Perception 4 + Int 3 + Enhancement 3 + Actively looking. First roll Sight, Second roll Sound. (13d6.hits(5)=6, 13d6.hits(5)=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3560843/)) Glitches should be mentioned, keep track of your own Gremlins and the like.
- No Cheesiness. This being a (almost) strictly combat game, don't take Negative Qualities like In Debt, Day Job, Lost Loved One or other "free" things that will never come up in play.
- No Metagaming. Applies to a lot of things, but what I'm asking is that, for example, if you roll badly on infiltration or an invisibility spell, your character doesn't know how s/he'll still be easy to spot. To eliminate some potential problems here I will roll Perception for all players. When sending me a charsheet, tell me how many dice there are for Visual and Auditory Perception.
- All communication between PC's (best done through PM's) must be sent to the GM too!
One thing I'm struggling with: Should players know each others charsheets or no? If no, should charsheets be made public after the fight? It could be interesting, but one idea was that if the PvP game turns out to be successful, to reward each combatant with 10 karma per kill so they can rejoin later and become legends of the arena. Not doing it also eliminates my own chances of ever joining the fight if another GM takes over... *sniff* Of course, people may get an idea towards what the champion is capable of after the fight, but it leaves place for some mystery.
Also, strictly karma-based character advancement is better for magic users than for street sams. I could throw in monetary awards too, but how to deal with availability? (Just ignore availability, instead just setting it to 20 max?)
Another thing: I think the game would be more interesting if there were a possibility of it taking place in the real world. This means the players might find themselves fighting in the middle of a barren and abandoned area, but they might just as well find themselves in Ghoul-Central or downtown Seattle, with all the problems this brings to a bunch of people fighting to the death. Yes/No/Maybe?
Oh right, the *: I'm considering allowing characters that are killed to burn a point of edge. This will not put them back in the fight but does allow them to sign up for the next arena. Good idea or no?
Most importantly: Any troublesome things come to mind that can be avoided from the start? I'm thinking spirits -might- be an issue, though that may be personal bias. Same for drones, though I'm not so biased against those and think they're less OP... What things should be banned?
Please, please, please, do not post charsheets, descriptions or bios.
-
I'd be interested. but are we talking a stand up fight or ambush what kind of situation? I like riggers but sometimes drones won't fit where you want them to be, plus what kind of hardware could I run on my little drone army?
-
I'd be interested; also, I'm thinking most of your ideas are quite good.
And I'm all for the sheets to be kept secret. The unknown sets a nice mood for a fight.
-
Nice idea. I'm out though.
-
I'm interested.
-
@SeriousOne: Not sure what you mean. The combatants will all know they're at that location to kill each other. Can't tell you much about the area they'll fight in (don't even have on yet), but I imagine that in most of them the characters can decide what kind of tactic they want to use. Considering this... I might have them wear a bomb collar or something that'll detonate if they don't engage an enemy within, say, 1 hour?
@Netzgeist & Vinnmun: Great! Feel free to toss in ideas that could be fun or thoughts about things that could problematic.
@Sent: You're still more than welcome to give some input if you feel like, even if you don't want to play! I've watched part of your games and I'm certain you've got things to teach me :) (I still want in, damnit! :p) (And of course, feel free to change your opinion about joining any time too.)
-

:)
it's not my fault you've played half of the missions, but slowly we're getting to the point you weren't playing yet
-
So with drones, if we face a rigger are they just going to have 1 drone out or will they be unleashing whatever their commlink can handle?
-
I was thinking he could just buy whatever he wanted. The tougher the drone, the weaker the rigger will be in the flesh, no? Or wouldn't that work? Also need a way to make sure the rigger doesn't just hide in a closet until the end of days.
Maybe a forced movement kind of thing? You must be X meters away from your past 2 previous locations every Y minutes? Or am I complicating things too much?
Still looking for input on spirits... They're smarter, faster and tougher than drones. What to do with them?
-
Background count.
-
Trying the same thing in The Pit some times back (with no GM needed). Too bad that even the only tournament remain unfinished... :p Well I wish you luck with this one...
-
random background counts would work for the spirit side of things.
-
But screws all magic users, not just spirits.
-
That's true....hmmm.....
How important are knowledge skills going to be. Should I or any player spend karma on them?
-

Hm, must've missed that... or not had the time to make a character. Memory is so fuzzy :(
How important are knowledge skills going to be. Should I or any player spend karma on them?
Difficult to say. I wouldn't spend many points on "art (surrealism)" or "wines (south African)", but knowing stuff about weapons, technology, security, procedures might earn some useful information... Than again, I may decide to scrap them entirely and just focus on the combat. Let me think on that (or see how others view this).
-
HEy Silk :) you are much better in PR that I was, so maybe this would work :) feel free to use any part of it as inspiration...
-
Bah, don't say things like that! I was actually really looking forward to totally clashing with LochKid in that Dinosaur Island game :)
You'll sign up for this game when/if it gets started?
-
Thinking about character :)
-
i'd love to get in on something like this. have you thought about teams or team game types? maybe capture the flag (extract the scientist?) first to get him back to their safe house wins?
-

I did, actually :) But unless a respawn mechanic is implemented, CTF would just turn into "kill the rest and get the prize" anyways. Teams could be interesting but also harder to manage I think... going to start with a simple FFA and see how that goes :)
-
That would seem more like Urban Brawl. Real Urban Brawl, not that kind of tactical runs we are doing with Inca...I meant that real one with schedule, charts, bets, bookies, trid show and souvenirs...
-
kind of thinking this could turn into a stealth arms race. everyone goes invisible enough to bone the perception score of everyone without astral sight. i guess ultrasound could work for this too or does improved invisibility work against that too?
-
UWB radar :D
-
Pretty busy being sick and getting used to the new family situation, but since all the PbP's I'm in seem to have died, I'm going to start preparing for the first fight.
I kind of had been hoping on more input, but I suppose experience is the best teacher. For now, spirits are out. I'm allowing drones, will have to see if they'll be too problematic.
People who want in, post the name of your character here and PM me a basic description of what I can expect of the character. I don't want a full sheet yet; when I do I'll want a file from the Chummer Character Builder emailed to me.
Character creation rules and houserules are in the first post.
I'm accepting 4 players, if more apply (I believe I had 5 expressing interest), I'll let you know who's in or out (decided by lots of different factors).
Oh yeah, an idea I had to counter campers or riggers hiding in a closet while the drones do the work: A compass indicating in which direction the other contestants are.
Every player gets a color, the compass won't show anything other than "Red: NNW, Green N, Yellow S SE".
Thoughts? Too easy or "handicap that counts for everyone"? Enough to eliminate the need of a exploding collar?
-
but since all the PbP's I'm in seem to have died
>.<
-
but since all the PbP's I'm in seem to have died
>.<
... I meant to continue with "for a short while until the ultra cool uber GM returns and advances the best game ever!", but then a volcano erupted, my kid got sick and I hurt my pinky, so I had to stop writing there!
Having a blast with the game, but you gotta admit it's seen a quicker pace in the past... slower too though :p
-
Okay, one thing I want everyone to vote on if they want in the game. Do you want:
A - A straight combat area, where stealth could be an option but straight-forward-guns-blazing-assault with Assault Cannons, Grenades, Tanks and a dozen combat Drones is just as good?
B - A "real life" area, which could be a residential area, airport, shopping mall, whatever; with people doing their thing, cops walking around and security drones or turrets at critical points?
If you choose B, I might still drop your character in option A just for fun & giggles; change the scenery to keep things interesting. You might end up surprising yourself.
But if you make a character for A and I put you in situation B, chances are it'll cause widespread panic and alert security the second the game begins.
So I really need to know this. I don't really have a problem with the PM's I got so far. But the chars don't really seem viable for what I originally had in mind. So I guess we should have this vote first; the majority wins. I'm fine with running either.
-
I haven't yet had time to put a character concept in my mind and flesh it, so I'm guessing I won't be one of the first combat players...
Yet, if my vote is still valid after that, then I think option B is a lot more interesting. A whole lot more!
-
B
-
B
-
B it is.
So yeah, send me a PM with a short description about your character.
I won't refuse any build because it's too combat oriented... just don't say I didn't warn you when your "Huge Troll wielding two Panthers with underslung Grenade Launchers and wearing three layers of MilSpecTech armor" gets attacked by security long before he's had a chance to engage any other players.
-
While "B" is the more interesting option, it might be hard to balance the influence of NPCs on the PCs actions and preventing bias. "A" relies on pure strategy with no outside influence, while "B" relies on luck and strongly on the GMs whim.
How will you handle drones? If i buy a dozen flying snipers and half gets shot down, will they be missing in the next round or will they get replaced.
-
I'd vote b, more complex less like a pit fight and more like shadowrun just because you can have a character that pack military grade weaponry that doesn't make then more deadlier.
As for me joining I am thinking about it as a drone operator. I have a plan for a character but I've not finished the build yet. Or I could make an EX-Red Samurai.
-

True. I guess the good news is that the things I'm biased against, I just try to houserule or ban :)
I'll do my best to be fair and treat everyone equally... and I'll PM my bank account number to the players that want to be treated more equally than others ;)
How will you handle drones? If i buy a dozen flying snipers and half gets shot down, will they be missing in the next round or will they get replaced.
I was typing: The game's sponsor has agreed to refund and/or replace all damage done to the contestants and/or their property. Not to worry. Other than returning from death requiring a character to burn a point of edge, nothing will be lost.
But then, I'm not sure this is a good idea... what are your thoughts here? A rigger with 200k nuyen worth of Cyberspace Designs Dragonfly Drones w/ C12 mod (that's 80 Dragonflies!!!) would be just insane.
I guess I'll go with the "full refund" for now, but I'll point everyone towards the "No Cheesiness" and "No Metagaming" rule in the first post. IMO a rigger would never just sacrifice his drones, throwing away all the money and time he spent putting them together. A "Oh, they'll all be magically restored later anyway." mindset is kind of metagamey.
If I see this generosity being abused, I might throw in a little divine intervention and change the rules later to fix the problem.
-

Damn you saw my excellent plan.
-
....
Or I could make an EX-Red Samurai.
....
You know...I saw this concept before on one of Mirikons characters, and that had really good background to cover it. I dont want to change ttopic of this thread, well, do you guys really believe such things as ex-Red Samurai, or ex-Tir Ghost really do exist???
-
Sure, why not?
Don't get me wrong, they'll be extremely rare and they won't just let you walk away, but I don't think it's impossible to escape from them.
Get out as quiet as possible, get as far away as possible and do so as quickly as possible. After that you're bound to have your ex-employers as Enemy, more than likely together with Records on File and Criminal SIN (though if you were really Black-Ops, you might not have been issued a SIN) and maybe Wanted.
But after that I think there's little difference between being a runaway or being 'runner who recently did a really heavy run against a megacorp/government... There's plenty of those, and some actually live longer than a month or two!

I hope you were joking :p
-
I also like Nikita :) well eveh she had some real hard time to get out from section...and when she did, she was way above 400BP
I dont mean that it is impossible to run away from them, but I mean, specificaly in the Red Samurai case, they have real code of honour IMO, traditional japanese bushido...and IM they rather commit suicide that betray or runaway...and ghosts...well..those are ghosts...I dont have any real info on them but a few stats but IMO they are kind of elven volunteers.
Also, if you look Ghost stats...or Red Samurai stats in sample grunts, they are far beyond what is possible with 400BP/750Karma. So the only reason I can see runner is something distantly related to ex-RS is that he had been kicked out during basic training...

How about a guy that's been burned the Red Samurai have covert operatives I remember a while back when reading some of the Shadowrun novels their was a runner who'd failed and was cast out.

I was going to have about 10 just to make things interesting, but I think I'm going for a more direct approach.
-
How about hacked software? Buying new softs for each drone is getting expensive fast and with drones in the games, hackers are another alternative.
-
Lemme say it like this: Send me what you think is reasonable, I'll look at it and say if it's okay or not.
I might say "no" to things that are technically allowed and might allow to bend the rules some when things sound good but aren't technically RAW.
Drones are starting to sound more problematic each time I read about them here, so just tell me what you're thinking of and I'll let you know.
-

Imagine I run 5 steel lynx tactical drones, they're hard as tanks.
-
Also about as easy to spot. I won't stop you, but don't say I didn't warn you when security comes down on you like a ton of bricks.
-
Personally i am all against drones. Everyone can take advantage of "a few" autonomous drones, you don't even need to be a rigger. Just program them to attack your smartgun target.. Additional attacks with a chance to hit, reducing the defense pool considerably with each attack and they might draw enemy fire. I am afraid in the end wins the person with the most drones... each one being like an extra life.

OK so no spirits. Magicians are oerpowered that way or another, so why dont limit that...
-
No drones, no spirits.... What's left in Sr that make it Sr? I think you should ban stunballs and grenades. They are way overpowered and infected adepts? I shudder at the tought...
-
I didn't ban drones...
Although I am implementing a "Keep it reasonable" rule to make sure it remains Shadowrun. IMO, a rigger with 80 suicide-bombing micro-drones is neither fun nor Shadowrun.
Spirits, if you can think of a way to make 'em manageable, please tell me. The thread's still labelled "Input Appreciated". But until I find a way to make 'em manageable, I don't think allowing them will make the game any more fun.
-
I kind of thnik that the best kind of balance is to allow. Overpower to every one. Survival of the fittest I guess.
-
Well... banning spirits is equal to everyone too, so that's balanced.
I just think Spirits have quite powerful features against which no non-spirits (or at the very least non-magical characters) have no means to counter or defend against. That's quite unbalancing if you ask me.
Putting them in the game would pretty much be forcing everyone to play a spirit-summoning or spirit-fighting magician if they want to have any chance of actually winning. This lack of character diversity sounds pretty boring to me, even more so because the players don't even actively control spirits.
I'd rather try to create a rules basis which encourages diversity and gives different kinds of characters a chance to play their own strengths and to find and exploit the weaknesses of the others.
To me, Street-Sam vs. PhysAd vs. Rigger vs. Mage vs. Face sounds a lot more Shadowrun, exciting and fun than Summoner Mage vs. Summoner Mage vs. Summoner Mage vs. Anti-Spirit Mage.
*shrug* I know that I could be completely wrong.
But for now let's try one game with the rules as they are now and see what we can learn from it.
-
Yes i agree, drones are still a lot better then spirits, which you can summon again and again until your wear the enemy down, but it shouldn't end in a mecha tournament.
IIRC the olympics banned magic and cyberware when it first came up, because it was just too difficult to find any reasonable rules for that. In most popular tournaments like "combat biking" and "urban brawl" there is still no magic allowed. And robots/drones have their own tournaments all along.
Throwing everything together here and still wanting to be "fair" is almost impossible... unless of course you would be playing in teams.
-
I've tried imagining face vs anything else, I wonder if there will be any volunteers filling the face.
Teams are much better options, but it WILL be a nightmare to GM unless you put separate threads for them to communicate within teams (that would require gentelmen agreement of no peeking (or peeking allowed only to hackers that tapped onto other teams communication))
If you go with teams brawls - you could devise other than last team standing scenarios but capture the flag (ie. scientist in the compound) before the other team, where teams fight not only between themselves but also against environment.
Other way (one vs one or last man standing) if you ban spirits or drones I'd suggest closing the matches to a single class. ie. close combat vs close combat, ranged vs ranged, drones/spirits vs drones/spirits. That way, you can allow phys adept go against cybered close combat sam or rigger with unlimited number of drones against summoner mage or a gun adept against combat mage.
-

Disagree. That "Separate classes" idea is interesting well that wont be shadowrun. Limiting characters this way - no riggers, no spirits, reminds me something...Microsoft Shadowrun PvP FPS game. And that was piece of shit that hardly finds equal oponent.
-

Oh, if only I could enter the game myself with Silk. I have tons of plans if she got thrown in! Don't get me wrong, it'd be a lot different (and probably harder) than another type of character and require a lot more thinking outside the box, but I don't think a face would be without a chance.
Anyway, people interested in joining, send me a PM with a short description of what you have in mind.
Or do all these objections mean you're no longer interested in playing?
-

Yes, don't want that either. We can just try and see how it works out now. With the environmental option "B" even a face could use the people and maybe even cops to mess up with the other participants.
What would be needed is a way to identify the other participants, when there are lots of other people around. did we have anything for that?
Anyway, people interested in joining, send me a PM with a short description of what you have in mind.

More the opposite. Having so many options makes it excited, might be the best choice.
I am also interested, but don't know if there are already four people on your list.

Charbuilding info's in the 1st post.
There's slots open and even if there aren't, this is still the recruitment phase so anyone is welcome to make a char and send me a PM.
If there are too many applicants, I'll see who gets in and who doesn't.
-
Still waiting for charsheets, guys.
Unless you're not playing, in which case I'll have to find where I stored my LEGO's, 'cuz there doesn't seem to be happening much in any game I'm currently in :(
Also, my negative rep increased by 33% in a day! Anyone know where I failed to uphold my 'nice guy' charade and posted some of the dark thoughts in my mind?
-
Just wait another day, don't have too much time at the moment. I will send the first character type, i mentioned.
Furthermore i should warn, that in August i go on vacation for three weeks, where i probably won't have access to internet. So other interested people should have priority.
-

You are always welcome to join the spirits game ;)
-
!!! I tried building one, but the only concept I can think off just overlaps too much with one of the others.
Besides that, I suck at charbuilding. I'm almost certain I've got some psychological condition which makes decision-making incredibly difficult.. impossible even for magical characters.
-
With a single class game that's unavoidable to overlap. But there are never too many Sammies and I expect kill rate high enough to warrant the need for overlapping.

Lego is good. Summer is beginning, I assume that there will be some lags in forums activity...even on my side. Ill be able to focus on more than just bitching around and post from time to time in UB maybe at the beginning of August
-
I think I'm like bad luck for PbP games, everyone i join always stalls. lol Damn it all! :-)
-
A very important question i think is, how we are able to recognize the other players. If its a big public area with lots of people there and only 4 players to fight each other. Are we tagged with RFIDs, so we can find each others position anytime. Or do we have to recognize each others faces? What about disguises then?

Rest assured that steps will be taken to ensure that the contestants will all be able to eliminate each other within a timeframe deemed reasonable by The Organisation.
In order to encourage diversity, originality and creativity among the contestants --all in the service of maximizing entertainment value for the paying audience-- the sharing of details regarding the rules and measures taken on this matter with the contestants, prior to the start of the contest, has been deemed unfavorable by The Organisation.

ok, so better to prepare for the worst.
*taking tent, survival gear and nutrition for a week* ;-)

now....good night niggaz :)

Getting a sheet together if this is still open
-
Recruitement's open until the game starts... or I go comatose waiting for people to send me sheets :p
-
You get my sheet?
-
I've got a mostly finalized charsheet, but I'm still tweaking things here and there, and a doubt crossed my mind.
I guess that's a no, but by any chance, you aren't using that really friendly house rule in which we got knowledge skil free points in Karmagen as we would in BPgen, are you?
-
Sorry, but no, not in this game. Sure, why the heck not? Have some free knowledge skills. This gift comes with a warning though: a lack of knowledge skills can have consequences too. I don't care how much you yourself know about a topic, if your character doesn't know, he doesn't know.
Please PM me with a basic description of what your character will be like.
-
How strict are you about requiring Chummer sheets? I have a character, but I don't have Chummer, so it's text only - nice and organized, though.
-
@Glyph: You silly Mac/Unix/Linux/Android user! Your resistance is futile.
Chummer files just make it a lot easier to see if no rules have been broken/mistakes have been made; that's pretty much why I prefer chummer files.
I'll allow non-chummer people at request, I'm flexible like that. You seem quite thrustworthy, not even having suffered an assault from the Smite spammers on the forum, so your request has been granted, PM me your character description.
@vinnmun: Sorry, haven't had time to check email, can't do that @work and been pretty busy at home (and watching the soccer semi-finals), will try and check tonight.
-
My guess are some teenage newbies whom post or ideas werent too well appreciated, bacause it was clear stupid bullshit. Allow them to die in pain and have some + here, chummer :D

Before I forget:
If you're bored or inspired, you can write an "Introduction" for your character which will be broadcast by "The Organisation" for the audience.
It'll be posted after the game at the beginning of the description of the match, so players can't use important info from it during the game, but might be fun to read by spectators to get an idea of what the contest is/was like. Something like:
"Coming straight from the Puyallup Barrens, Rafa used to be in a Latino gang before he decided to join the Pro's!
Don't underestimate this average looking Ork. With his undetectable implants and a black belt in various martial arts, he's a lot tougher than he looks.
Of course, most people who go up against him will never find out just how tough. Stealthy as a ninja and an expert with his rifle, Rafa is capable of taking out his enemy long before they have a chance to spot him!
Before the contest, he was heard saying "This'll be a <censored> piece of cake. <censored> won't know what <censored> hit 'em. Might as well hand over the <censored> cash right now and save me the ammo."
It will be exciting to see if he can live up to his own expectations. Rumor is that despite his relaxed attitude, Rafa can be quite a hothead once he starts fighting.
Will he be able to keep his head cool and keep himself in control once the bullets start flying?"
If you don't feel like, don't worry. I'll try to come up with something for you. I just can't guarantee it'll fit with the way you see your character...
-
Okay, 4 sheets have been sent.
Some work still needs to be done to rectify some problems I pointed out in their sheets, but assuming this will happen, the players of the first contest will be:
Glyph, Vinnmun, Netzgeist and Jackleg Rooster.
I've received some good character descriptions from Glyph and Jackleg. Netzgeist and Vinnmun still have time to send them until the contest is over.
Before we get started, I'd like to make two more things very clear once again:
- While this is not a normal Role-Playing Game but more of a Combat Game, it is a still a Shadowrun game with events happening in the Shadowrun world. (Feel free to throw in some roleplaying to keep it fun though!)
- You're all doing very bad things and I will be pulling no punches. In a normal game, I can (sometimes) be a bit forgiving: the world's a dangerous place, but PC's dying simply isn't any fun unless it's either good for the story or they simply had it coming. In this combat game however, PC's dying is pretty much the point of the game and the other PC's are only part of the danger.
New Rule: All (if any) communication between PC's (best done through PM's) must be sent to the GM too!
As long as you stay within the parameters of the contest and don't metagame, I don't mind how much you scheme, betray and backstab each other. All's fair in love and war. But I need to know what's going on so I can make a nice story out of it later.
-
To deal with nuyen, you can:
Allow looting of corpses and sale of loot at 30% price
Allow converting Karma into nuyen at a rate of 2500 nuyen per Karma
Award a set amount of nuyen in addition to Karma.
Anyway, i am interested in this now, is it still open? Anyone happen to cancel or something? I have the character sheet done, pending approval. I'll send if a spot is open.

I'm in a hurry due to the end of the semester, but I will be able to sort this out after Thursday.
-
I am also interested if there are enough spots open. If so, please let me know and I'll create a character right away for review and approval.
-
Happy as I am about the sudden extra interest, for now the game is full.
Depending on how much work running this will give me, I might start a second one and run it simultaneous with this one if there's enough interest.
If handling two at the same turns out too much, I'll start recruiting for a second game after the first is finished.
-
Drek! :)
Whether you decide to run a concurrent game, or run a new one after the conclusion of the current one, please keep me in mind as I am always interested in running in the shadows.
Thank you.
-
All right, I'll keep my eyes open, my interest isn't waning. ;P
-
Character description and background info [finally] sent.
Sorry for the delay, people.
-
Netz, I emailed you back, need some finishing touches, then we're good.
The rest of you ready to go?
Last chance to make some final changes!
-
I'm rdy, I'll have something written up tonight. Been busy with my other games.

Been busy with my other games.
Wish I could say the same *pout*

Ready to rock and roll! First one dead pays for the beer in Valhalla!

Ready to rock and roll! First one dead pays for the beer in Valhalla!
You remind me of a guy I know with that comment. Of course, he also claims to be a robot in addition to a Viking, so....maybe not all THAT much.
Still watching, Xzylvador ;). I want dibs on a spot in round two. :D
-
Ready to go. The good thing about a game like this, for the people who are waiting, is that spots should open up quickly, since the nature of the game means high fatalities.
-
Game has started: further conversation can take place in the [OOC] [PvP] A day at the mall. thread.
-
RECRUITMENT:
Two players of the game seem to be inactive; Netzgeist I know to have PC/internet issues, Jackleg Rooster I'm not sure of but hasn't replied or logged in for a few days without notice.
I want to give them a few more days to respond, but if they don't, I would still like this game to end with violence and bloodshed.
So I'm looking for players interested in taking over their characters if they don't return.
I know this might not be as fun as playing your own characters, but I don't want to change the "contestants" mid-game, that wouldn't be much fun or fair.
I can't say how the characters doing so far since this might give away useful information to the other players, but if you're interested I can send you some information through PM's.
Just leave a message in this thread!
Information about the game can be found in this thread and in [OOC] [PvP] A day at the mall (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=7840.0).
Edit: Forgot:
- Mason and Scarecrow, you get dibs if you want in.
- Any/all karma rewarded to your temporary characters can be transferred to your own character for follow-up fights.

Well, since I haven't found any other open games, sure, if they are gone.
-
Color me interested, good sir. Send me the details of whoever's character I would be taking over, as well as any additional details I might need for this.
I would rather play my own character, but I will take what I can get.
-
And with a triumphant entrance, the digital presence know in the forum as Netzgeist walks in. The ones who knew him before can sense that, although time's scars have left their mark on him, beneath all the changes he is still the same fellow which used to haunts this boards:
- Not so fast, kiddo! Just got my old 'link fixed, and I'm ready to roll in again!
* Sorry for the lack of info, chummers, but as Xzylvador said before, I was unable to log in due to some huge computer problems. Well, as it seems, now I'm back!

Foiled again! And I would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!

Don't forget the dog! Credit where it's due, man! ;D

Got word from Jackleg Rooster too: Also having computer issues; Going to give him a couple of days to see if he can post regularly again.
-
Ah. Too late. Well, still waiting.

Ok, a fat Great Dane and a bunch of kids beating these master criminals? It's sad. :p Anyway, carry on with your game. :)

Bad news is Jackleg Rooster won't have his troubles fixed quickly, so he won't be able to post frequently. This isn't fun because it's not fun and also because he had some pretty cool ideas...
Good news is that this allows one of the others to jump in and play.
Jian, sorry, but Mason and Scare_Crow already wanted in before the game started so it'll be one of them... Be sure to sign up for the next game.
Mason or Scare_Crow, going to decide this with a die roll. First one of you to post can choose: Odd or Even?

Understandable. Would this next game be another one of these things, or something different?
-
I'm rather odd, so...
I'll take the evens. :D

Alea iacta est (1d100=37) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3626675/)
Odd, isn't it?
Sorry Crow, Mason gets it. If it turns out he doesn't want it, it's yours.
-
As Scarecrow posted first earlier, I am willing to give the spot to him. I can wait for the next game. Also, I prefer playing my own characters. Have fun Scarecrow :)
-
You guys are making this complicated.
So uhm, Crow, you're it. Unless you want to pass it on too... You know, 'cuz apparently my games ain't good enough for some people!
j/k :p
Let me work on writing you a summary on what's happened so far, I'll send a PM with the charsheet so you can have a look at it already.
