Title: [OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: Scarecrow71 on <08-20-12/1848:19>
I am going to start this thread by giving you all a little bit of my background before diving into the specifics of what this thread is.  I feel that will give everyone who reads this a good idea of what to expect.

While I am new to SR4A, I am not new to Shadowrun itself.  I played 2nd and 3rd edition way back in the day (remember A-E for selecting metatype and such?), and I loved the game back then.  The setting is awesome, and the futuristic aspect really appealed to me.  But, friends move away, real life gets involved, and before I knew it, I had stopped playing for a really long time.  Which is sad.  But I re-found my love for the game by happenstance, and I have to say that thanks to the guys at Catalyst I have fallen in love with this game all over again.

I'm not new to gaming by any means.  I started gaming when I got the D&D red box set (yes, with Keep on the Borderlands) when I was really young, and I've been gaming now for [number of years intentionally omitted so you guys don't say "Holy shit is he old!"] years, having been both a player and GM in that time.  I cut my GM chops on AD&D, specifically 2nd edition, and I think I've forgotten more rules for that game then would fit in a 100 page book.  Hell, I still have a hand-written document detailing all of the house rules I have for that game.  I have to go read that just for the trip down memory lane some time.

Anyhow, I'm no stranger to role-playing, having been involved in several games as a player and a GM.  I've GMed various systems, to include Rifts, Vampire/Werewolf, GURPS, and Star Wars, to name a few.  I like to think I have a good grasp on what it takes to be a decent storyteller, and what it takes to keep people intrigued, scared, shocked, happy, and whatever other positive adjective you'd like to throw in there when it comes to being a GM.  I'm not perfect, and I make mistakes.  But I like to think I'm intelligent enough to learn from my mistakes, and that I'm more than capable of holding my own when GMing a game.

I'm no stranger to PBP gaming, having been involved in several games across several sites for the past few years.  I'm involved in 3 of them here as a player, and I love every minute I get to spend reading the posts in not only the games I'm involved in but games I'm not involved in.  What can I say - I'm a true gamer at heart.

I'm not perfect with the mechanics of SR4A, but I am learning them (with a huge thank you to Xzylvador, who has wonderfully put up with my noob-ness on combat thus far).  I read more and more of the books I have access to every day, and every day I make it a point to grasp one more thing about the mechanics I didn't know before.  I'm not perfect, and I still have questions.  But the only stupid question is one that goes unasked, so I ask all kinds of stuff all the time.  And one day, hopefully before another edition comes out, I'll have a good grasp of the mechanics.  :)

Now, with all of that said...

I've noticed that there is a gap between the number of players and GMs out here.  This isn't a knock on anyone or anything out here - it's merely an observation.  There will always be more players than GMs, because 1 GM runs a game for (on average) 3-5 players.  But I've noticed that whenever an opening happens in any game there are more people interested than spots available.  This is a good problem to have, as it means people want to play.  But it's a bad thing as we need more GMs to step up.  And while I'm not perfect, I'm not afraid.  I am therefore going to take up the mantle as an SR4A GM and try to run a game.

I'd like to get a group of 4-5 players, with a nice mix of vets and noobs.  I want to run a game that is primarily fun, with a nice helping of learning by all.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't learn something new, whether in a game or in real life, and I'd like the game to be the same thing (mostly).  I'll take all levels of players, because as a GM that is still learning the mechanics we can all teach each other something new.

This thread is, as you can tell by now, a thread to gauge the level of interest by all, and to see if we can't get enough people to play in a game.  I've got a smattering of information for the game, which is detailed below:

1.  Seattle, 2072.  Mid-year, right around June 1.
2.  All characters would be standard builds (availability 12, no hacked programs, etc.), with 400 BP.
3.  Posting frequency would be no less than 1 time per week, with GM posts put up at a pace reasonable enough to keep the game flowing.  But I will never go more than 7 days between GM posts.

There are more house rules that I have, but not many.  Mainly stuff that helps keep the game moving and flowing nicely, but nothing that is out of bounds or will make people raise their eyebrows.

If you are interested, please post your desire in this thread.  Don't post characters here yet - I want to see the level of interest and then get a party together first, with people potentially getting together to create their characters to complement one another.

So, is there any interest?  If I get 4-5 people saying they want in, then awesome, and we'll start working on characters and such.  And if you've got questions before committing, by all means - post them here or PM me.  I like questions.  Questions are good.  :)

EDIT:  The game is now live.

I'm definitely interested. I'm GM-ing a game IRL, but I never get to play since I don't know too many other people who run Shadowrun.

Is there a specific theme to the running in Seattle, like a DocWagon HRT group or a heavy Vice style game, or one where a lot of political tensions with the Tir or something? Or would it be a 'Vanilla' style runner group (Which is NOT a complaint or a knock.)

I'm on the same boat as jon. I GM like 2 or 3 teams but never get to play much.

I'll take anything....I hope I'm not bad luck to the longevity to these things. lol I'm game. Would like to play a hacker.

Definately definately DEFINATELY interested! I have just started playing this game with my RL friends and as I am my groups premiere roleplayer I was elected as DM, so I have never gotten to actually play the game.

I have a catholic priest magician(support/healz/summoner) and a Cov Ops B&E/disguise style character readymade, would love to use either.

3 for sure, and 1 potential.  Awesome!

WSNOW, this would hopefully be a campaign that encompasses all of those - some vanilla, some hack and slash, some politics, some intrigue, some... Well, you get the point.  I would like to get a little of everything, even if it is not overtly noticeable.  Is there something specific you are looking for?
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: WSN0W on <08-20-12/2040:32>
There is so much awesomeness in the SR world that I could find a character idea that would work with pretty much any campaign styling. I just wasn't sure if there was a specific theme to gravitate concepts to.

I'm certainly interested in the game. I have been toying with starting one to GM as well as I noticed what you very aptly pointed out on the 'GM to Player ratios.'

Oh by the way, think I will go with the catholic priest support/summoner magician character, been wanting to play him since I made him. :) Unless it turns out he just won't fit in in the campaign.

Wow - not even 3 hours, and we have 5 people.

Vinnmun, Jonathan , father_twilight, operator, and WSNOW are the starting group.  Anyone else, and I will have to put you on a wait list.

Create your characters and pm them to me for approval.  Once approved, post them here.  Once all 5 are approved, we will get started.

Because I am a fan of this house rule, everyone gets CHA * 2 in free contacts.

Post by: Father_Twilight on <08-20-12/2253:14>
This is my priest magician. Hope he is up to snuff. Let me know if there are any issues.

Name: Dinivin Telanesci
Alias: Father Twilight
Race: Human
Sex:Male
Nationality: UCAS (Italian descent)
Lifestyle: Medium
Karma Spent:0
Physical Description:
Standing 6’ even with a fit, trim form, Father Twilight cuts an imposing figure to some, a comforting figure to others. He dresses in the ecclestial robes of a catholic priest, covered by a black leather duster jacket with a large golden cross tucked beneath his holy robes. His hair is black as the sins he preaches against and his eyes are a vivid blue that bring to mind a summer sky. He wears a pair of spectacles perched on his nose, which always tend to slide down in a manner akin to what you would expect of a doddering scholar. Yet when the eyes behind those glasses fix on you it feels as though he can see the sinful thoughts burgeoning within you and is weighing the balance of your soul. He constantly carries a Bible with him, though he rarely pulls it out.

Personality/background:
Dinivin Telanesci was once an aspiring priest of the catholic church. However when he began to espouse the use of magic in religious rituals and that the holy mother church should begin actively recruiting the awakened to their ranks he was cast out of the fold of the faithful, told that such things were not to be and that it was rank heresy to suggest it. When he continued to preach his beliefs in his private life he found himself the target of shadow runners hired by the holy church to silence his heresies. A band of runners entered his home and proceeded to beat him bloody, and pumped two bullets into him in an attempt to ensure he was finished. Fortunately for Dinivin the runners were unaware that his magical studies had delved into the healing arts, and he was able to save himself when he came to, which occurred as he struck the frigid waters of Seattle’s harbor. Since then he has kept up the act that Dinivin Telanesci died that night, and has become the shadow runner Father Twilight, working to use his magic as he feels the church should have, and hungry for the chance to exact revenge on the church should there ever be a contract offered on them.

Well, I keep seeing you posting for the same games I do, so I guess we're on the same boat, thanks for opening up a game (I had put the whole PBP forum on Notify to know when new threads would be created). Unfortunately, it seems your game filled up before I even got home to see it, so I guess I'll be on standby.

I'm pretty much the same as you: yes, I remember the time when you had those A-E priorities, when hackers were deckers, and when all Awakened types started off with their full Magic rather than having to buy it (them Adepts were a lot more useful then!).

I'm a fair fan of the Adepts and the Awakened in general, even though I feel being a mage in SR4 is entirely too costly in BP and Karma to my taste (I still use the SR3 option to let my mage players trade nuyen for Karma when they buy spells and I refund the Karma for destroyed/stolen foci). I'm pretty comfortable filling any niche, having reached the point where I try new or unusual concepts, like Adept Hackers/Riggers, Heavy Gunner Face, etc.

If I'm accepted in, I just want to know which books you will be using. I tend to use just about everything, having checked all the books in Chummer and then scrolling through a lot of stuff. If you've seen the character I built for the Chicago game, you'll notice I tend to go into a lot of details, living by the motto "Always have the right tool for the job, no matter what the job is".

DiscoDwarf, Ympulse, and Sway:  I will add you to the waiting list in this order.  If someone drops or gets geeked, you guys are up in this order.  Cool?

Father_Twilight:  Character is approved.  Once the others get their characters in, we can get started.

vinnmun:  Looked over your characters, and I'm showing the following BP remaining on your characters:

 - Berzerker Joe, 6
 - Data Miner, 4
 - Info Warrior, 8

Not sure why this is happening, but I've pretty much got the defaults selected in options in Chummer (other than the CHA * 2 for contacts in house rules), but I'm just gonna suggest that you check your math and such to make sure that they are all up to snuff.  Just to be on the safe side - I don't want you to get short-changed.

As far as which character to use...that's your choice.  All three look good to me, and I want to learn new stuff while doing this.  I'm comfortable with the matrix, if not 100% versed in everything.  Just pick one of them and post him here.

All Players:  Couple of things regarding posting formats and such.

Backstory:
Those are the breaks; you play the cards you're dealt, and you make the most of your situation.

Born in the early months of 2046 to British middle-class parents, Jasper Franklin was never a lucky lad. Being born as a troll was bad enough, but he also contracted a particularly harsh case of asthma that stunted his initial growth. Concerned about potential long-term effects (and their image), the Franklins chose to enroll their son in physical and genetic therapy programs. Through perseverance and close care, Jasper was able to reverse his degenerative slide; that was not just enough for him, however. Jasper then decided to push the envelope further, committing himself to the study of martial arts; it fed his competitive desires and also offered him respite from the Franklins' overcompensation in their parenting.

During an ill-fated vacation to the Emerald City in 2064, Jasper lost his parents in Crash 2.0 when their plane took a nosedive in Redmond, just beyond the bleached walls of Bellevue. Barely surviving the accident, the young troll was taken in by a sympathetic group of ork squatters looking for valuables and other items of interest. It did not take long for him to find employment as an enforcer in the Seattle underworld, putting his strength and size to work. His drive for improvement did not stop there, either; he continued to shape and mold his body into a fearsome weapon, studying and refining his capacity for unarmed combat. He also adopted the name Solifuge, based on a Desert Wars veteran's comment that the troll reminded him of a particularly vicious camel spider.

In the summer of 2070, Solifuge was apprehended in a botched run targeted at a politician's daughter. Fearing for her safety, the cautious father hired a team of shadowrunners who intercepted the kidnapping attempt. Solifuge was knocked unconscious, arrested by Lone Star and hauled off to a maximum security prison. In a strange twist of irony, Solifuge's buddies hired the same team of runners to break him out of the prison transport. While he was able to dodge bounty hunters, Solifuge now holds a criminal record in the UCAS territories. To make matters worse, Solifuge's escape was purchased with an ill-advised loan from predatory Mafia lenders. Solifuge now struggles to make ends meet, looking for his next job or big break to settle his Mob debts.

Well, got a character ready...

also, looking at vinnmum's sheet, I notice two things:

 - First, given that one of your powers is Eidetic Sense Memory, the Speed Reading quality becomes redundant; as stated in the Power, it allows the character to do "photo reading", literally remembering crystal-clear "pictures" of any text to look at.

 - You have four identical Sandler TMP and no Automatics skill to use them. I'm not sure you needed four in the first place, but four guns that you can barely use? I wonder what devilish plan is behind this.
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: vinnmun on <08-23-12/0312:00>
the TMPs are a weapons cache in the hidden compartment of my bus for the team if needed. I just don't wanna hear "I'm out of ammo", I got more guns to give. lol

Your right, i overlooked that, thnx for the catch on the speed reading. Changing.

Good, I needed to add restricted gear again for exploit that i'm upgrading, also CHUMMER SUx for not recognizing i bought the response 6 upgrade. :-(

== Description ==
A fair skinned and freckled face is framed by a mop of unruly auburn hair. Dark horns curl in a gaint C through the hair. He could use more sun, which he isn't finding in Seattle. His teeth are white, though solidly 'British.'

For a troll, he's rather short and lithe. But he still puts any human linebacker to shame. He is not imposing with his frame and is rather soft spoken. He has the traces of a British accent, but that is fading the longer he spends in UCAS.

== Background ==
Born to a nice wage slave family in the UK, things were shaping up for a nice, mundane life following in the family business. The final moments of puberty threw a wrench in that as not only did he goblinize into a Fomori, but it awakened his Talent as well. His family feel apart. No number of tests could convience his father that his mother had not cheated on him with a troll.

Placed into a boarding school environment, Artair rarely saw his parents. If it wasn't for his Talent, he'd have been quite miserable. He was accepted into University on scholarships and testing grants. His Fomori type mixed with his Talent made him a valuable guine pig.

During his school career he made a lot of elven friends. They were largely the only people he hung out with. Most of his research partners and the leader of the experimental team. For a while, things were looking amazing. The tests were pushing his Talent to new heights. But the street proverb 'Never trust and elf' has been around for a reason.

His time at the university climaxed with a massive ritual tied to a summoning. The elves, his 'friends' were agents of the Tir and they intended to release a horrific mini-appocolypse through the school. Artair realized what was going on almost too late as things were already in progress. He turned on them and called in help, but was already tied to the ritual. The backlash was costly, damaging his flows of power and leaving his connection to magic a little...off.

The fall out did not paint him in a favorable light. The university did not press criminal charges, as he took action to help, but he was expelled. Becoming a pariah overnight, Artair moved halfway around the world from his home and settled in Seattle.

He struggled for a bit, trying to find his place in the city. It took a while, but he made a connection with Lone Star. Though Knight Errant had taken most of the Seattle security contracts, Lone Star kept 'ownership' of some of the more dangerous and trashier areas like the barrens. Their budget in shambles but determined to make Knight Errant look the fool, Artair gets semi-regular consulting work to help them work cases that push the boundaries of their jurisdiction.

The work has become less steady of late and Artair is needing to branch out more to pay the bills.

== Concept ==
Despite his age, Artair seems himself largely as retired. He left the UK to start a new life and recover from the betrayal of his elven 'friends.' Though he's still healthy, the final moments in UK cost him some of his mojo and his funk from it has let his edge get dulled.

He enjoys his job as an occult investigator and consultant, though his work load has been reduced as his primary employer, Lone Star, continues to lose more and more ground to Knight Errant in Seattle. With work becoming less reliable, Artair is having to look for other means of employment.

It's all good.  Just wanted to keep everyone abreast of the game status.  I'd rather you take your time and get a good character, so long as we are not waiting forever.  I would like to get started next week Wednesday at the latest, though.

Should be an interesting group. Got a hacker, a martial arts/face adept, an occult investigator mage, and my christian priest support/summoner mage. Interested to see what our last member is going to turn out to be. We are quite the eclectic band of gentlemen lol

I'll give you all a little information here:  I'm not a fan of background count.  Mages, Shamans, Adepts, and other awakened character get the shaft, and there's nothing that's a complete equalizer like that for cyber-/bioware.  And I don't like anything that screws over some players/characters when nothing exists to do the same to the rest.  Sure, a MAD scanner can keep cybered people out of certain places (or, well, it can detect the metal and the guards can keep you out), but it doesn't short-circuit it or cause you to not be able to use it.

Now, if you are gonna waltz around Auschwitz or the containment zone in Chicago, then yeah, it's going to be present.  But for the most part, I won't use it.

I was originally going to go for a mundane with cyber...it's far from an optimal build, but I love the idea of having cyberlimbs and gadgets. My other idea was a technomancer/wheelman type.

@Kylen:  I will add you to the waiting list.  Which puts the wait list at 6 people.  Holy crap - that is a lot of waiters.  I wish I could run a second game.

@jonathanc:  Either concept is fine by me.

We're live and gaming.  Initial IC thread is [IC] Where Shadows Fall:  Copycat Killer (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=8415.0), and I'll put that (and all subsequent IC threads) in the first post, along with the current party.  Speaking of which...

Current party is Father Twilight, Solifuge, Data Miner, and Artair.  Giving jonathanc a day or so to get a character in before I go to the first person on the waiting list.
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: Father_Twilight on <08-28-12/1640:13>
So read the intro, was wondering if we are all aware of each other at this point, like are all the players a present team, or are we being individually recruited by this guy?
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: Scarecrow71 on <08-28-12/1644:44>
Nobody knows each other at this point.  I always like to start with PCs not knowing each other so they can build their own relationships in the course of the game.

Hopefully my first post wasn't too wordy, but at this point unless I hear that Slim Jim in fact did not give this guy my info then I have nothing else for Father Twilight to do until he arrives at the meet.
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: DiscoDwarf on <08-28-12/2331:45>
Well, since I'm next on the waiting list (I believe), I thought I'd try and make a character. Quickly looking everyone over, I thought a Face might be needed, but now, after a few hours tweaking the character, I just noticed that one of the Trolls of the party is actually a face.  Drat. Of course, while my character would certainly be a better Face (with social dice pools of 16), Operator's character has paid essence and magic for some implants, and it would suck for him to have done so only to be outmatched. Too bad, I was really getting into this character.

Should I be joining, what role would be most needed? The only one I could see right now would be the rigger, but with two magicians who can summon spirits to scout and provide combat, that role does not seem entirely useful. Both magicians also have the Heal spell, so a First Aid/Medic is not that helpful either, though both of them might be happy with my concept of a holistic healer adept with the Pain Relief power to remove the Stun damage from Drain. A sneak/infiltrator would be good too, though both magicians have Invisibility spells to help in this regard and vinnmum's will probably hacking has remotely as possible, while Operator's character is as stealthy as an 18-wheeler.

So let me know what you guys think, since I have nothing better to do I'll just start another character from scratch.

Well, you're new to the game, and my delays are my own fault....if the players/GM would prefer to have a face (I'm more of an ex street doc/street sam) in the group, I'm willing to step aside for the good of everyone's fun. :)
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: Operator on <08-29-12/0248:45>
It's better to think of Solifuge as a backup face; he toes a fine line between churl and dapper without overcompensating on either end. There is no small investment in social skill, but that aspect plays second fiddle to his role of big scary trog who can break people with his hands.

There is barely anyone who would accuse him of being influential outside of intimidation tactics.

Jonathanc, I got your character and am reviewing him now.  Sending you a PM to let you know what needs to be fixed.  I will need to introduce you after the initial meet at this point, but it's not a big deal.  Just correct the stuff I mentioned in my PM and resubmit for approval.

Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: Scarecrow71 on <09-03-12/1144:01>
Vinnie, I believe you are the only character with the Hardware skill.  However, I'll let the others weigh in on if they do or not.

I also have a couple things I would like to point out to all players, both current and prospective:

1.  If one of the NPC's indicates that he is "pushing" something to your commlink, you need to check your real-life email.  This statement indicates that there is something that I am sending you that your character would be receiving on his commlink that, for whatever reason, isn't going to be posted in the IC thread.  This can be data files, account information when you get paid, or information that only your character (or some characters, but not all characters) might have access to.

2.  Unless you state otherwise, I will assume that your commlink is is broadcasting your real SIN (should you have one) in Passive mode.  If you do not have a real SIN, I will go through the list of fake SINs you have and pick the first one in alphabetical order.

I have added these tidbits to the first post in this thread so all can see them.
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: vinnmun on <09-03-12/1412:53>

*Novatech commlink has Analyze loaded and Fake Sin (Arnold Player) installed. Passive Mode

*Battle Commlink is loaded with: Exploit, Analyze, Browse, Encrypt, Decrypt, Edit, Stealth, Spoof, Track, Sniffer, Scan | Dennis Kinley  Fake Sin Loaded | Hidden Mode

In case it was missed, I'll repost my commlink stuff unless you are asking of something else that I'm not understanding. :-) I am going to have to buy another driver's license at some point for Arnold Player sin.

No, I noticed you had that indicated and it sparked my mind to want to remind everyone of the small issue with what modes commlinks can be/are in.  Just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page!

And on the Hardware question, regretably, no, I don't and likely won't be able to invest in it either.

See the first post in this thread regarding commlink settings.  I'd prefer to have you explicitly state what they are every time your location changes so I'm not having to try to remember that you have these settings, and another player has these settings, and so on.  Just makes it easier on your GM's old mind.

How are tests going to be done for my matrix rolls for you. Limited, quick, or same dice pool max rolls based on the dice pool.

We will need to discuss this.

Simple data searches are fine, so long as you are aware that your extended tests encompass 1 minute per hit.  You will be pulling known information, which means you get whatever is in local newspapers, online stories, trids/vids, etc.

However, you will not be gaining access to private data or encrypted nodes as those are completely separate tests that you did not state you are doing.  Just so we're clear.  :)

Anyhow, 1 minute per hit puts you at over 90 minutes to do your searches currently, so you are going to be out of action for a bit.  I will detail what you find at the directed times (33 minutes from current time for your first search, etc.).  I need to do this to keep all of you going on the same timeline.  Fair?
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall
Post by: vinnmun on <09-06-12/1727:19>
a minute per hit.....seems a bit wacky but whatever. Well if there's any nodes that require me to have some sort of access, that is pretty much included in the tests since we're doing the 1 minute per hit thing than.

I myself like the regular rules, but it's your game man. I'll follow. :-)

So I'm also looking for nodes that require access that would contain the information i'm looking for.

One of the things I struggle with (honestly and admittedly) is intervals for extended tests.  I am reading the rules on extended tests and time intervals, and I cannot find a standard by which we are supposed to use.  The book does have a chart where we could quickly set the interval and difficulty, which I am more than happy to use.  Difficulty on what you are doing is not that hard for your first 2 tasks, so we'll say an interval of 1 minute.

The difficult thing here is you rolled 7 times on the first task, so I now have to gauge how long that truly takes.  The task is simple, yes.  But without waiting to see if you garnered any information on the first test, you continued to roll until you accumulated a ridiculous amount of hits on something that was the hot news item several years ago.  Finding information on the Mayan Cutter that was in the news is no problem.  My point is that I have to determine how long it takes you with the number of rolls you made, and I'm gonna say 1 minute per roll as you are continuing to search, so that's 7 minutes on the first search.  This will apply to the second search as well, with 1 minute for each roll (although I don't know what you expect to find on Mrs. MacCallister on the internet, but it's cool).

The third search...we'll deal with in-game.

So, we're looking at 7 minutes on the first task, 7 minutes on the second task, and at least 7 minutes on the third task (which we'll deal with in the game itself).

Is that fair?  I'm not perfect, and I'd like to get this right so we can get on with the fun!

EDIT:  What do you know - page 230 in SR4A shows searching the entire matrix as 1 minute, so I guess I'm right on with that.  But, let me know what you think.

for how long you allow extended tests to occur, there is a suggestion in the book to have the player remove one die with every roll he makes, thus the total length of time possible to use on a roll is limited by one's ranks/attributes relevant to the skill. Thus he may start with 12 dice, but after his first roll he is reduced to 11, so on and so forth until he is out of dice or hits the threshold.
Title: Re: [RECRUITMENT/OOC] Where Shadows Fall

Which he did.  But when we are talking about large dice pools (such as 16 dice, in this case), it would take 16 tests at 1 minute each before he hit 0 dice.

The matrix is way faster than internet is now. Why limited extended tests are done to put things in a time frame. One other way of doing things is setting up thresholds for certain levels of data and me rolling one time for a quick extend. Based on the interval you set, you can give me pieces of info in "real time" as everyone else is doing something.

That's a nice way to do it. Gives a sense of immersion as has to sort though the endless junk also to be found on the matrix while having good stuff streaming in.

It is a rather jarring change after Solifuge said he'd go to the Underground, but I don't mind going with him. Solifuge is arguably the group's best talker.

Also, I turned down going to see the body on the basis that Solifuge's actual ability to gain insight from the examination would be limited at best. If only Solifuge is allowed to go (no outside assistance), then it would feel as if I'm throwing away nuyen to confirm something that Tosh has already told him.

No, it's all good.  I just assumed that you were headed to the OU to help out the others and that everything else was not an option.  You can, of course, pursue whichever course of action you want to pursue.  The morgue was a one-time thing at that moment in time due to the nature of the job.

So everyone is aware:

Father Twilight has not posted in more than 2 weeks, and he hasn't even logged on to the site in at least a week (from the last time I checked).  I have sent him 2 PMs asking him about his post rate (which is clearly stated as no less than once per week), and I have received no response.  I therefore have no choice and am dropping him from the campaign.  I hate to do it, but I have no choice.

I have sent a PM to the next person up on the waiting list, who happens to be Disco_Dwarf.

So, couple of updates on the game.

1.  DiscoDwarf hasn't logged on to the site in 4 days, and it's been 2 days since I PMed him to let him know he was up.  If I don't get a response from him by the end of today, I'll be putting him at the bottom of the waiting list and moving to the next person.

2.  JonathanC hasn't posted in more than a week.  I totally understand his personal, real-life issues, and I wish him nothing but the best when dealing with them.  I'm hoping to get a post from him sometime this week.  If he posts prior to Sunday, I'll throw up a GM post.

And no response from DiscoDwarf, so his invitation is being withdrawn.  PM sent to the next person up, which would be Ympulse.

I'm here!

Sorry, for some reason, the forums do not notify me for ANYTHING, whether posts in another thread I'm in or the PM I got, I simply got lucky to notice that it said I had a message.

So if I can still take the place, I'd love to do so.

Just want to know if I'm in line or not. I had to leave for a few days and missed the PM I was sent too, and well, if they are sketchy, that is another concern. Also, for some reason, GMail was now sending all notifications straight to the Spam folder, had to create a filter saying that anything with the word "Shadowrun" in it ('cause I also run a game with friends) should NOT be sent there... ugh... I wish all the Google stuff would stop trying to make decisions for me...

Sorry, but I've been ill the last few days.  I've seen and read the comments above, but have been unable to wrap my head cold around them.

Due to issues with the PM system on the forum boards, I am going to give DiscoDwarf the benefit of the doubt and state that he is next in line for the campaign.  All other characters have been submitted to me via email (chummer files), so please do the same.  I use gmail.  scarecrowtrobot.

Once I get the character I can review it and introduce you.

As for the remainder of the group...I will have a post up in the next day or so.  Or whenever I no longer need to use over the counter medications to deal with my illness.

Well, my character has been sent to scarecrowtrobot@gmail.com as requested (hopefully, that wasn't a typo and the address wasn't really scarecrowrobot@gmail.com, without the t).

Reading up on the IC thread, I realize he will surely be oddly well adjusted for the task, and given this character has a passion for combing the news about interesting or unusual criminal cases, he might already be investigating the copycat Cutter on his own.

IF/When he's approved, I'll post the text version sheet here.

Also, Scarecrow, I understand you perfectly, two weeks ago I was literally taken down by the most virulent flu bug I've ever had. So take your time and get well.

Ok, I'm still really ill.  I have been online for brief spurts over the last few days, but not long enough to actually do anything.  I feel much better today than I have in about a week, so I'm hoping to have enough energy to get a GM post up.

DiscoDwarf, I did get your character but haven't been able to review it due to being ill.  I hope to get that done today or tomorrow.

Again, I apologize for not getting a GM post up recently, and hope to get that accomplished soon.
