Title: EuroWar Antiques - Release Date?
Post by: Black on <09-06-12/1841:42>
Just a quick question, but when is EuroWar Antiques being released?  Only asking because it forms part of the new RBB, and I figure it will be out before then...

They replied on Facebook about this:

"Not yet. We're working on a history section to go with the gear."

So yay, we get fluff to go along with the gear.

So...... does that mean I need to hold off on buying the RBB 2074 so they can add this fluff to it? or do I also have to buy the Eurowars pdf?

Yeah, that's why I asked. I guess I'm waiting on a second printing then......

Black Book is just a collection of gear from the eBooks (plus the shadowtalk for that gear).

Eurowar Antiques has...  Ummm...  More to it than just gear and gear fluff.  Not really sure how much more I can say due to NDA, but Black Book is as complete as it's going to get.  It has all the gear, gear rules, and gear fluff that will be in Eurowar.  It does not have the complete text of Eurowar though.

Just think of the Runner's Black Book books as NERPs and buy them because you crave NERPs.

I will.... God knows I buy everything from this game and Battletech........ But the budget is stretched way too close to the danger margin these days.... So It'll be awhile.

Darn it...I was so hoping I would get be able to get it :(
I just don't have the disposable income at the moment to buy the DTF book of Runners Black Book 2074...
since it seems the PDF of Eurowar is not coming out, though... :(

Eurowar is coming out.  Where'd you get the idea it wasn't?  It's just been a longer project to finish that anticipated.  The gear section was ready ages ago, but the history and background material taht make up half the PDF product is...  Complicated.  The original Eurowars information from SR1 had far less thought and planning put into it than the NAN uprising and formation of the UCAS did (and we know how poorly conceived that concept was :)).

So, we only got half the product in Runner's Black Book 2074?  And have to buy the PDF to get the history and fluff behind the EuroWars?

...

Well played!  ;D

You can be honest.  The EuroWar was fought so military surplus from it could be bought by shadowrunners.  ;D

The original concept was the hardly unfamiliar concept of a Soviet-NATO conventional conflict that most people would have been familiar with through Red Storm Rising. The AFA/Second Ottoman Jihad stuff that the Germans added was just stupid, though.

I'm not really sure what you all are expecting though. There's nothing SOTA in it, and the stats of most weapons are virtually identical across classes. But what do I know? I'm the Jerry Falwell of gun porn among the freelancers.

I though the arabic invasion of Europe is a fairly common theme as well, though in real life, a high unlikely occurance.  The almost constant conflicts in the collasping Yugoslavia region during to '90s would have provided ideal fodder to this ideas.

Not sure who Jerry Falwell is (quick google-fu search suggest his a conservative religious preacher?) or how he relates to more gear...

Well, actually, it was that he blamed every bad thing that happened in the US, from hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards, to
terrorist attacks, on LGBT Community, abortions, gambling, prostitution, pornography,  Hollywood, and, I think once or twice,
Catholics and Jews. Guy was a nutjob.

So...I don't think you are the Jerry Falwell of the Freelancers...

Hardcopy was released as part of the Runner's Black Book 2074 (Blue Cover), if memory serves me correctly.  PDF versions are available for standard outlets.

Part of it was released in RBB 2074...there is other, historical fluff stuff that they have said is delaying the release of the PDF.

Or, we can start calling EuroWars SOLA2

Nothing afaik, but JM Hardy mentioned in the IRC Q&A that SR4 will still release some ebooks during SR5's cycle, including this one. I could make guesses but better not.

There's been chatter about it recently. Peter got delayed with some projects because of some outside issues, IIRC, but things seem to be getting back on track now.

That said, I'm not sure what the status is. But I'm pretty sure something is being done.

I can't see myself not enjoying it but then again i won't know for a while..... i do however find that i enjoy the "fluff" component of most books almost as much as the rules part. I know that makes me a minority in most instances, mind you my players seem to enjoy learning from the little fluff pieces about gear/cyberware so if you got lots of that sort of stuff in there its gonna be gold.

5 Favourite Books have to be Aresnal, Augementation, Street Magic, 10 Mercs and Unwired

The release reminded strongly of old 1st Edition Twilight: 2000... which is a good thing, in my book.
