2 IP is pretty essential in most groups; only having 1 is a good way of getting pounded into the dirt by any sort of response team.
Physical Barrier is not a useful spell (unless you get it house ruled). Try Slow (from War!), it can do virtually anything you would want Physical Barrier to do.
Detection spells (even maintained ones) aren't very useful in general. Tech can easily (and cheaply) do pretty much any detection you may need.
Banishing is not a useful skill (again, unless you get it house ruled). If you like the idea of banishing spirits, use Stunbolt (sending things back to their home planes with a huge blast of magic counts as banishing).
Assensing, on the other hand, is useful. You might want to try and put a bit more into it.
-
well i kind took Conjuring skill group wich is why i got banishing but i guess that could save me 6 bp to just pick summoning and binding. ( witchcraft is a posession tradition so not sure if i need em)
..Im thinking switching Detect Life for improved relfex....Physical barrier..for Improved Body maybe? any other spell you can suggest?
-
any other spell you can suggest?
Slow from War. Trid Phantasm. Control Thoughts. Levitate.
-
Awright made some switch...swapper detect life and physical barrier for Improved Reflex and Levitate..took away one point of etiquette and ditch the conjuring skill group to have summoning and binding at 3 and assensing at 4
-
There are some things Detection can't help with: Detect Life is pretty star trekky, and Catalog is just neat. Also, Analyze Device will give you bonuses to whatever item you're using.
And I disagree, Physical Barrier is useful. It's just not a primary spell, you gotta cover a few things first like Levitate.
If you're going to go with Spellcasting 5 try and get the 10 spells you're allowed. I'd reconsider your Combat Spells, however. Stunbolt is great, but Manabolt and Manaball are kinda specialized to work against biological targets.
As a long-time mage, I gotta tell you that Drones suck. Powerbolt/Powerball is what you want, and also perhaps Lightning Bolt. What's a Wicca without some lightning?
I'd remove the point from Dodge and place it into Infiltration or Pistols.
Other useful spells: Improved Invisibility, Stabilize, and Trid Phantasm.
-
Im thinking maybe i should ditch conjuring..with only 3 in the skill ill have trouble making somethign worth while and focus my bp on spell casting
-
I wouldn't suggest that. Spirits are half of what makes Magicians powerful. I get by with 3 and a Magic of 5 most times. Certainly doable though.
-
thing is im kinda at max in BP..i got no idea where to grab point..already got 35 negative qualities point
-
I'd go down to 4 with Counterspelling, ditch Etiquette and Dodge. That'll free up 12 BP.
And I'd ditch the Illusion Sustaining Focus. It's just not worth the price and BP. Can Wiccans summon a Spirit of Man? If so, you can have that case your Chaotic World for you. If not, you'll do a better job of it yourself. I'd keep Health, however.
-
I know her named sound like Wiccan cause of Wixxa but she is Witchcraft tradition
ditch dodge and etiquette to put it in infiltration...ill see what i can get with the illusion foci gone
-
Ok i lost the illusion foci..added Improved Invisble and Trid Phantasm...my pistol is now at 3 so i got 2 more dice to shoot..she is starting to look a lot more well rounded...i just need to read on possesion Tradition to see what it does :P
-
One last thing. I would drop Powerbolt for Lighting Bolt, or similar, so you can actually hit drones.
-
Well my book says i affect living and non-living targets..i think its just same thing but it dosent have secondary effect aka electric stun and -half impact armor so thast why the drain is lower..still works on machine in think
-
Oops. Powerbolt is physical. Nevermind, then.
-
Though remember that the electricity damage special effect makes it so that drones have to roll Body + Armor and get more hits than your DV or be disabled for Combat Turns equal to 2 + Net Hits!
-
Its also +2 to drain test per shot i prefer to stick to lighter stuff for now and cast more often at high force
-

I'm inclined to agree with you. Even combat drones have a low BOD and only a moderate amount of health. A high force Lighting Bolt is more likely to take them out that stun them, and a high force powerbolt is easier to cast.
-
Keep in mind that to effect a drone with powerbolt, you need to beat its object resistance which is at base 6, but can go higher. To average 7 hits, you need a spellcasting pool of 21 dice, which can be tough (impossible?) to get.
That's why I'd advise taking a non-direct spell to combat drones. You don't need to combat their OR that way. I also suggest taking an elemental type as those get to ignore half of the target's armor and have nifty side-effects. Electricity won't actually damage the drone unfortunately, but it can knock it out. Fire can be nice, as could something like sand, which would have a chance to gum up the drone's works.

yeah well ill use that pistol people told me to increase the skill of..thing gotta be useful at something right?

True enough, though if you are going the pistol route, I have to recommend the Ruger Thunderbolt.
-
The Ruger is cute but its fluff is the kinda of thing my GM would use to conficate it first chance he gets
-
Ah, well. Be sure to at least take advantage of aimed shots then.
-
And APDS rounds.
