Hi folks,

I was wondering if any of you fine people could give me an idea of the sorts of things I'd need to make sure Ryan Mercury could do if I was to stat him.  I know he's an adept* and a common drake, but what's his Path?  What powers has he manifested?  How initiated do you think he ought to be?

*: or is he a mystic adept, given the references to him using ancient magic based on draconic and elven stuff?

*ahem* Remind me to post later this evening. I had the pleasure of playing Ryan Mercury in the Shadowrun tournament in '11 and still have the character sheet. (WHICH, I'm hoping they include in a Street Legends: Supplemental at some point. With Argent)

Hrm. Let's just say that I have issues with those stats.

In the novels he followed his own path called The Way of Stealth. Basically, he had maxed-out IA (Stealth skills), IA (Athletics skills), Traceless Walk, Improved Reflexes 2 or 3, Killing Hands, Distance Strike, Combat Sense, increased physical attributes or high-rating Attribute Boost for them. He was Initiated with Centering, Adept Centering, and Masking.

Note that he was last written in action under Second Edition rules, and those are all from 18 years ago in-game.

I think those stats are fine for an over-the-top, action-movie, one-shot convention game (and, unless I'm misremembering, they worked just fine for that, and y'all had a great time).  But I feel like they're not the best overall stats for him as presented in the books (not enough emphasis on his stealth abilities, too much on his combat, and with a few small errors).

I've taken to re-reading the Dragonheart Trilogy, and established some other adept powers that he needs.

I've also noticed that he's routinely described as being 2m tall (6'7") and 130kg (285lbs); aside from clearly being ork-proportioned, I'm amazed that most of the books aren't him lifting weights in the gym ;-)
