Title: Wizpunk style magician
Post by: prismite on <12-03-12/0406:12>
I'm playing a shamanic tradition magician in a newly started game and after a few missions I've got some Karma to spend and I'm not sure what to do with it. Character below. I'm open for suggestions.

Theme: An aspiring magician (and lead vocalist for the new band, Black Knight) who discovers a tremendous ability to perform magic, but only when he is singing or playing guitar. Character is very dark and emo-like, so Goth Metal was the music of choice.

Name: Johnny Knight
Street Name: (none yet, though "Creepy Charms" is the fore-runner)
Race: Human
B3 A3 R3 S2 C5 I3 L3 W3 E2 Mag5

Spellcasting 5
Enchanting 5
Artisan 5
Negotiation 2
Summoning 3
Arcana 2
Con 3
Infiltration 3
Counterspelling 3
Binding 3
Language - English: N
Language - Latin: 6

Positive Qualities: Magician, First Impression, Aptitude (Artisan)
Negative Qualities: SINer, Addiction to Alcohol (Moderate), Spirit Bane (Watchers HATE Johnny)

Spells: Trid Entertainment, Trid Phantasm, Physical Mask, Mob Control, Mob Mood, Influence, Heal, Mindprobe, Increased Reflexes and for combat, Manabolt.

Gear: R3 Spellcasting Focus (Guitar), R2 Sustaining Focus (Guitar Pick)

No guns, No armor, no tech-gear of note. As mentioned before, in order to cast a spell, Johnny must be playing a rift, or singing something. More often than not I'm a distraction for the sneaky party members, or an information extractor from victims.

Currently I have 14 karma. Any ideas?

EDIT: Nevermind, I made a bunch of CharGen suggestions that don't matter. I didn't read the very last line of the post that said he had 14 Karma to spend.

Overall a cool concept.

@The Key of E

it's about spending karma, not about character creation...

I realize this isn't about Chargen, but why did you impose a Geas on yourself but not take it as a Neg Quality?

Actually, I hadn't viewed it as a Geas, but more or less a flavor element. In hindsight you are absolutely right.

Fortunately, our GM has granted me the ability to redesign the guy based on this new evidence. I will give him more Willpower to help with soak. I almost always end up taking 3-5 Stun after each spell, so the additional dice will be useful.
