According to Arsenal (p.39) "The Screech sonic attack can be projected as a narrow, medium,or wide spread beam, using the same rules as shotguns (see p. 144, SR4) for determining the number of targets aff ected and
the DV modifi er. Th e Screech is resisted with Willpower instead of Body. Regular armor does not apply,"
Does this mean that Spirits get nothing against these attacks? their Immunity to Normal weapon does not apply?
I Have a Player that plans on using it to deal with spirits because his Spell chuckers refuse to Ever!
-
If it's not magical, immunity to normal weapons applies. Note how it says that "regular" armour doesn't apply; a spirit's armour isn't regular at all.
-
Of course what this means is that we need greater and more powerful obscure weapons to overcome spirits.
-
What, SnS and weapon foci?
-
Honestly, I was thinking of some kind of anti-matter rounds. your other suggestions would work, though.

ITNW give you impact and ballistic armor, neither of those apply to sonic attacks. So no a spirit does not get any of those dice. If your going to all the effort to get a sonic gun that is A very expensive weapon and B takes an exotic weapon skill to have any hope of using it well means it should mess up spirits. I mean there are ALOT more conventional and easier to set up and use ways to deal with spirits. SnS rounds, Assault Cannons, Rail guns, heck if they go into the exotic weapon bracket all the Lazer weapons pretty much cut spirits in half as it is and are a much better alternative to the screech gun. Any anything thing that can use Anti Tank rounds cuts spirits in half as well. Seen a sniper with a Barrett 121 with Anti Tank rounds is 9P with -10AP means 1 net hit punches through F9 or less spirits and 2 net hits punches a F10 and how often do you run into a F10+ spirit?

That depends on how surly our GM is that day.
We've hit F10's at least 3 times now when going up against the "Big Bads" of the campaigns we've been on. And at least once we've run into a F12. (We could hardly touch that one so we killed the summoner instead...Much easier.)

Just how normal are we talking?
Is a rusty spoon abnormal enough to get around it? will hitting it with a shoe somehow get around all of it's defenses which were made to deflect small projectiles at high speeds? ;)

A sock filled with sand is the best weapon there is against the horrors. Points to whoever gets the reference.

"Armor has no effect" seems to sum it up clearly. No armor has an effect on the weapon, whether it's normal, magical or hardened, it's useless. Only things that dampen sound will affect it.

Makes me think of Dresden....hit a ghost with a bag full of ghost dust or some-such.
But yes, there is many ways to kill spirits. If you got the sniper, I would go that route. Otherwise just go with what makes sense (IE not to crazy complicated or expensive).

Depleted Uranium makes up a big part of it, BTW.

Yes, along with cold iron, basil, and dung from an unidentified source. Plus 4 other ingredients (I found my book lying around, lucky me I was reading it the other day).
So my official guess on the reference is Harry Dresden, Grave Peril, ghost dust, smacks a ghost with the bag before emptying the bag on his godmother. Or at least that's the closest I know.

Hint: dungeon dimensions.
