Title: Montreal
Post by: Mirikon on <12-19-12/1956:29>
Reading through Montreal 2074, and this caught my eye:

Quote from: Montreal 2074, pg 10
The area seems to attract a certain type of rich patrons, the
cold-hearted, backstabbing young corporate ladder climbers. On
the other hand, a slew of squatters call the hidden compartments
of the crumbling buildings home. However, these squatters seem
to be of the entirely unwholesome kind. Madmen and delusional
paranoids move in the shadows, muttering to themselves.
> This is no mere coincidence. A dark presence has made its home
in the tunnels under this part of the city, and its dreams attract
those with darkness in their souls.
> Man-of-Many-Names
> I don’t know about anything so dramatic, but I will certainly vouch
that the Astral has a noxious taint here.
> Ethernaut
Sounds like the effects of a Horror to me.

Free Shadow Spirit.  Feed on and feeds negative emotion and sets up a domain thus astral taint.

Nasty sh!t...

Maybe. But it is also scary similar to the workings of some of the minor Horrors back in Earthdawn. And they also fed off people's negative emotions...

Reminds me of that anecdote in the 2050 sourcebook about the spirit with the alphabet cards. Another Shadow?

Shadow spirits are minor Horrors*: "shadowy beings that turned men against each other" from the 1st edition history of Barsaive.

* Or at least similar beings from unfriendly deep metaplanes.
