Post by: Teafo on <01-10-13/1045:01>
This thread is for OOC posting for the game Rainy Days in Seattle. First 6 posts should be Character sheets of the 6 players. Please do not post further until those are up as the first 6. This will make it much easier to keep track of the members if they are all in one consolidated place. For the character sheet, please use the coding from FastJack titled "Character Sheet Code" stickied on the main PbP Page. Congratulations to all of you and welcome to the shadows.

Physical Description: Winters stands at 5'11 and weighs 200 pounds. Has an athletic build that makes him appear more as a beach boy more than a private eye. Has a good amount of stubble but hard to notice due to it being blonde. Has deep blue eyes that can be unsettling at times. Keeps his blonde hair in a buzzcut. Has a noticeable scar across his nose and three bullet wound scars on his back.

Dresses with a long coat joined by a white undershirt and plain pants. Hands are covered by black racers gloves that also serve as his commlinks AR gloves as well.

Personality/background Winters was born and raised in Seattle by his Italian family and lived a happy but at the same time unhappy childhood. Winters father died when he was 15 to go-gangers and this lead to a deep depression throughout high school. Winters mother couldn't afford to live in Downtown Seattle any more when his father passed so the two of them moved to Renton. In Renton Winters feel deeper and deeper into depression and tried to take his life when he was 17 but failed when his mother caught him. Winters mother then sent him off to counselling and this is where he got his interest in detective work. The counseling program allowed Winters with an outlet and that was a junior detective program. Winters, after graduating high school, would later go to the Lone Star police academy in Seattle but would drop out months later.

Winters then started his own private eye business when he was 21 and made a nice little name for himself down in Renton as  a tough, mean, pistol slinging, brat. Winters, at 24, got caught up in the shadow running by being tricked into it by a Johnson but the trick served as a gateway drug. Winters enjoyed running the shadows and re-tuned his private eye business specifically to run in the shadows.

Winters is a very quiet man but he can be loud at times. He prefers his actions to do most of his talking.

Name: Jason O'Keenan
Alias: Mick
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Nationality: Irish
Lifestyle: 2-2-2-3-4 (Low) Easy Going Landlord, Inconspicuous Housing, Well Made, Network Bottleneck, No Forwarding Address
Karma Spent: 0
Physical Description:

Jason is of somewhat above-average height, standing a modest 5'10, but is built strong and compact, like a linebacker. He has brownish salt and pepper hair, which looks like it was once kept in an acceptable, professional style. (When he was last sober, at least). His faded brown eyes are those of a haggard, grizzled man that looks like he's had a few too many but still needs a few more. A mixture of desperation and apathy found in so many addicts, the stubble on his face betraying the lack of basic maintenance he keeps on most days. He normally wears middle-of-the-road corporate looking two-piece suit in whites and subdued greys that always seem to be on their second (or third) day's consecutive wear, complete with the top button always undone and lacking a tie. Over this, his heavy-looking grey-brown longcoat is almost always on, maintaining the 'been working for three days straight' look that seems to fit him so naturally. It, as well, is weathered with use, but in good repair.

He does, however, reek of alcohol.

Personality/background
Jason didn't used to be this way. A long, long time ago he was a bright-eyed, ambitious young man. Anxious to work for the famous Lonestar company. Since his home city of Seattle had no state-run police force to speak of, Lonestar was the de-facto "Seattle Metro". He always had a sense of law and justice, and wanted nothing more than to do his part for his city.

His time as a beat cop hardened him. He saw things no man really wants to see, and was forced to do some things he's not really proud of. He befriended his partner, an O'Brien. They shared old Irish family names (as diluted as the bloodlines were), and became fast friends, more than once going out of the way to ensure the other was taken care of in hard times. After a few years of working with Lonestar, he met his future wife, Lisa. They began living the corporate-approved dream. A modest apartment in the better side of town, enough money to buy the corporate-sponsored Bioware they always wanted to get, with enough left over for the wife to buy an outfit in this season's style. In the years that followed, he continued to work diligently for Lonestar, cleaning the streets of undesirables, shadowrunners stupid enough to get caught, and from time to time taking down some Yaks. He proved to be exceptionally good at the last, being recognized, and then promoted to Detective, working on a task force  dedicated to stopping the Yaks from making a significant foothold in the city. Again, he worked as hard as any man could, doing the legwork himself most nights, and also going undercover when the need arose and noone else was trustworthy enough for the job.

One fateful day, he discovered, in his investigations, an alarming amount of corruption within Lonestar concerning the Yakuza and many higher-up officers making behind-the-scenes deals. To allow the Yakuza to operate freely in certain areas of the city. To Jason, this was absolutely appalling and disgusting. He brought it up with his superiors, who were equally outraged, but at the idea of a lowly detective accusing high-ranking Lonestar officers of doing such things. "Your information must be faulty" they said, "It's possible, but aside from conjecture, where is the proof?" others debated. Jason decided that he had to get that proof.

The next two years were spent on long nights and little sleep. Jason found it necessary to get a sleep regulator installed for himself. 6 hours a day were a few too many. His relationship suffered. He dug into every rat hole, every false lead, and every tip that he got, often times spending weeks undercover trying to get to the bottom of the lead. And his relationship suffered. Eventually, he turned to alcohol to get himself to take a step back from the hunt, oftentimes spending days or sometimes weeks so drunk he had trouble focusing his eyes. And his relationship suffered.

Eventually, Lisa left him for a low-level corporate officer. He took a month of saved-up sick leave after the one-sided divorce, which left him with nothing but his paycheck and his guns, and wasted the time on booze and the visits from his old friend O'Brien, who convinced him that he needed a small apartment, at least, so that he could at least sleep in a bed. He went back to work a shell of the man he used to be, only doing what was absolutely necessary. This lasted for a few months, and then the break in the corruption case came. An RFID chip planted on an official's personal car was traveling into the Yak-controlled part of town, and wasn't showing any signs of deviation. Jason, for once in six months, broke through the fog. He was in his unmarked squad car and gone in a minute, knowing where the meeting was most likely going to take place.

He found a good overlook position, and watched as one of the corrupt Lonestar officials got out of the driver's seat. He began recording on his cybereyes. Then the official moved to the passenger door, opened it, and Jason nearly passed out from shock. None other than the man in charge of the entire city's Lonestar operations stepped out of the car.

Jason retired from the company without mentioning a word about what he saw, saying that the meeting was a dry hole, a known undercover agent making a meeting of little importance. For his exemplary service, Jason was given three month's salary and his old unmarked squad car (In reality, noone wanted to go through the process of getting the stench of alcohol out of it, but everyone played it off as a gift) as seperations gratuity, and he was on his own.

Since then, Jason has spent the last year drinking his life away, only rousing for his weekly visits with O'Brien, whom, for some reason, was still only a beat cop. Those were the only days Jason was sober.

Lately, the money has become tight, and, with no real prospective legitimate jobs available to a low-level ex-Lonestar detective, the only profession that would pay anything was Shadowrunning, he surmised. Picking himself up from his drunken haze, he drove to the nearest known Shadowrunner bar, and began patronizing them with his presence.

Since being affected by the SURGE, Shira exhales a surnatural charm and presence. She has learned to turn it to her advantage but the extra attention sometimes bothers her. She has an athletic body though on the skinny side, and is nimble as cat. She favors her Spur implants that have been turned into a weapon focus by one of her Dad's magician friend.

Personality/background:Born into a rich Elven family, Daewel - as she was then known - spent most of her youth between Tir Tairngire and Japan were her dad had a lot of business, legit and not so legit. She started training at an early age with blades of all size and was pretty talented at it. Already an athlete with a strong personality, life changed when Halley's comet made its appearance in '61. She fell painfully sick, she lost eye sight and was losing weight by the hour. SURGE was affecting her but she didn't turn into a freak or some other animal monster like her father had feared.
Her vision came back once her eye turned a chromatic hue and it was discovered she had become Awaken, touched by magic. But the SURGE had brought upon her a sort of surnatural eerie presence. Some say she had been blessed by Angels. Everything about her radiated perfection.
Her Dad had other plans for her though, her athletic and martial skills combined with her presence and convincing abilities were too good not to be used. He financed more enhancements and training and soon turned her into the perfect assassin. Beautiful, agile, cunning. Daddy's little girl had been turned into Daddy's little personal assassin and toy for his friends and his enemies.
But between her intense training and gruesome assignments, she came to hate her own father, or rather the missing caring figure. She ran away and ended up in Seattle were she started - with the help of a local Fixer  - her shadowrunning career under the street name of Shiroi Tenshi - The White Angel in japanese.  Life was different but she had all it take to strive in it. Plus she was free.

Name: Maxwell Kojote
Alias: Fang
Race: Human (coyote changeling)
Sex: Male
Nationality: German
Lifestyle: Low (two months paid)
Karma Spent: 0
Physical Description: If it weren’t for his fur hiding it somewhat, Fang would appear almost emaciated. At 5’ 10” and 120lbs, the changeling is fairly scrawny. The SURGE hit him fairly severely, completing removing almost any humanity except for the mind.  Earthy tones of dark brown to black mottle his fur, making it somewhat difficult to see him in darker locations; silvery-green eyes peer out of his face, almost constantly slightly distracted by the flow of information he can see in the Matrix, however these are slightly disguised by the visor-like classes he ears, almost matching the set of headphones on his head.
The animalistic appearance is visible throughout his entire body, from the pointed canine ears on the top of his head, the nose and muzzle shape of a vomeronasal organ; down to the claws on his hands, digitigrade legs and tail behind him, twitching constantly as he walks. Bushy black hair explodes from his scalp, matching the fur growing over his body.

Personality/background:  Ulrich was born in Germany during the last Surge. His mother died in giving birth to him, and his father had no wish for a child that cost the life of his lover. As such, Ulrich was tossed out on the street, but luckily taken in by a young lady who practically ran a small orphanage.  Ulrich spent most of his life there, always remaining shy. The shyness only worsened some time after he turned 10 and the SURGE hit, transforming him entirely into what the other children thought a monster.
Eventually he had to leave, as there was little opportunity for him in Germany except the possibility of being acquired by Saeder-Krupp. He travelled to Seattle, in hope for a better future, but found little better there. The dislike of changelings was still around, and he had little presence in or knowledge of the area.
After some time, he was lucky to come across a fixer who was willing to see if he could find the young changeling work as a Runner.  There were one or two odd jobs available, one of which eventually netting him another contact in the form of a Mr Johnson for possible future work. At the same time, he was able to acquire a small low-quality home with some help from another changeling he befriended in a nightclub. It sparked the beginnings of a relationship between the two but it remained in the early stages so far.

Name: Mike Trenshaw
Alias: Ahnak
Race: Dwarf
Sex: Male
Nationality: UCAS
Lifestyle: Middle
Karma Spent: 0
Physical Description:

Dwarf-ish. After watching far too many trids and too many fantasy games, Ahnak has styled himself after the most stereotypical "rune mage" look he can get. His black trenchcoat/long coat has illuminated blue runes sewn into the long lapels. He carries a runed hammer, head-down, across his back.
The hammer looks like it started life as an 8 pound sledge, but the haft/handle has been replaced with a dark, well-worn walnut branch. The head and handle are both littered with Nordic runes and the base of the haft appears to have several notches carved into it.
In addition to an shoulder holster, he carries a leather bag at his waist (sustaining focus). The bag contains several blocks of charcoal, chalk, and a small tub of thick white paint. Removing his coat and shirt would reveal many runic tattoos and, most notably a long series across his back, a list of spirits he has thanked over the years.
He keeps his hair trimmed short and his beard a manageable length after a painful tangle during his training.

Personality/background Born in the north eastern UCAS, he awakened early in his teenage years. He joined a small corp around the age of 16 and was trained by hermetic mages there. He was uncomfortable with their teaching and came to realize that the power of the spells was in the formulae themselves, not the hermetic process. He began looking for more information and discovered the ancient nordic traditions and their runes of power. Not concerned with the norse gods, he pushed away again from tradition.

When his small corp was swallowed in the crash, he moved west to Manhattan and began his life in the shadows. Now, he's moved to Seattle for a change of pace and a new city (and new jobs).

Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <01-11-13/1215:23>
Name: Adrian Moreau
Alias: Devil
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Height: 5'10.5"
Weight: 155 Lbs
Nationality: UCAS
Lifestyle: Medium ( Advanced )
Karma Spent: 0

Physical Description:
Adrian is lucky in that his features and light brown complexion make it very difficult to determine his ethnicity. This gives him the ability to pass as various ethnicities and nationalities of his choosing, though, in some cases, makeup is required in order to be wholly convincing. His hair is an common shade of dark brown, somewhere in between short and medium length. His natural eyes are inlaid with synthetic cyberization, giving the normally dark brown irises a bit of a reddish hue. As a thief, his build is lithe, but athletic. His posture and mannerisms are generally those of a person who is under a lot of stress and is currently making a poor attempt at appearing relaxed. This often gives the impression that he is agitated in some way.

Background:
He was just another child of the slums, practicing thievery and evasion for survival purposes. Unlike many such urchins though, Adrian was also very clever and dreamed of something more. He dreamed of one day being one of those people he had seen, who seemed to him like they had it all, and so he set out to steal and trick his way into that life. That's exactly what he did, and still does to this day. Adrian Moreau, also know as Devil, is a thief and a con-artist, responsible for corporate and private losses totaling in untold millions. While he is still young, he's already pulled a couple dozen big jobs, usually alone, establishing his place among the prodigious thieves of repute.

The story goes that he was betrayed earlier in his career by someone on his crew that he had been naive enough to put his trust in. Shortly after being arrested, assigned a SIN, and imprisoned, he mysteriously escaped and has been hunted by the authorities, bounty hunters, and several of his powerful victims since. The thief returned to the game, almost as if nothing had happened. While he now dislikes working with groups and doesn't trust other runners, he will take the job if the money is good enough or his trusted fixer pushes it on him. Adrian's relationship with his fixer is a complex one, somewhere between business partner, best friend, and romantic interest. It's an unusual story, but they met randomly a couple years back. Eve helped to save his life, and they have been becoming closer ever since.

Personality:
He's actually a pretty nice guy, for someone that was given the moniker 'Devil', that is. He does appear to have a little bit of a complex though, targeting those people he has decided to be abusers of wealth and power, while simultaneously wishing to become wealthy and powerful. Devil also trusts very few people, remaining closed off and seemingly callous to most, however, at his core he is a deeply compassionate soul, who does his very best in order to never let decent people down when they truly need him. As a man of intellect, he has many facets, including a dark one. Vindictive and grudging by nature, getting on his bad side can become quite unfortunate for some.

Contacts
Yvette "Eve" Allerdyce (Personal Fixer) C: 2; L: 6
A petite human young woman of both Asian and Caucasian decent. Her skin is light olive, her eyes are pink synthetics, and her hair is black and cut short, with the bangs kept longer and colored pink. Her personality is guarded beneath layers of sarcasm and pessimism, but, when a person gets to know her the way that Adrian has, she can reveal that she has a warm and caring side. Fairly new to the game, Yvette has taken well to the job of being Adrian's fixer, often surprising others with her ingenuity and determination.

Eve is Devil's 'Dependent' for the purposes of the quality. As they are eachother's best friends, partners, and romantic interests, they communicate daily, and even more often often when he is working. If she asks him for something, he will feel compelled to give her whatever she requires, whether it's a loan, a side mission, or something as simple as running an errand or spending time with her. Pop-ins when he is at home are extremely common. Eve lives in a beautiful post modern house located in the international district of downtown Seattle.

Lifestyles
Large Downtown Townhouse (3,800 A Month, 1 Month Rent Paid)
This large concrete townhouse, found in downtown Seattle’s international district, offers privacy, style, and comfort. The landlord is laid back and generally doesn't require anything from Adrian except Nuyen, so there is no rental agreement and Adrian's name is not on the place. The townhouse is tastefully furnished and has a massive amount of space for one person. It used to be a small office building with a miniature warehouse attached.

Small Downtown Bolthole (500 A Month, 1 Month Rent Paid)
This is a ridiculously small apartment in a converted garage, located in a downtown alley in the international district of Seattle. This place is not unlike like a concrete RV on the inside. There are some lockers where Adrian sometimes stashes random things. He often uses the place to house his bike, then walks the rest of the way home invisibly.

Looks like we are all here, thank you all for being so prompt about getting these sheets up here, and having them all consolidated will definitely make my life easier. From here on out, this room can be used for any OOC chat about the game, dice rolls if need be can be done here, but I will most likely have you post them in parentheses in the text as you make them or at the bottom of posts if they are reactionary and such. I will be creating an opening thread very soon, just finalizing the last few details to get it all set.

Congrats everyone, it's a very nice roster that we have here and I am looking forward to start the game.
I'll go ahead at commenting on the sheets, see no criticizing, just random things that I noticed that may need to be addressed, or not.

Winters:
- Cyber/Bio doesn't match the Essence left (probably missing the Bioware part)
- Fake SIN of R5 can't be purchase at CharGen without the Restricted Gear Quality (Availability > 12)
- Contact Lenses (R3) [Low Light-Smartlink-Flare Compensation] has availability >12 too, thus requiring Restricted Gear as well (add-ons availability add up)

Mick:
Nothing, good job Mate. Maybe consider purchasing some softwares for your link

Fang:
- SURGE happened in '61, that'd make Maxwell about 9-10 years old...
- You'll get in trouble for being a Technomancer (people's fear) so just purchase a cheap 'Link to avoid suspicions.

Ahnak:
- I don't see what justify such a Distinctive Style, but nothing wrong in it per see.
- Unless really out of cash, buy a better license for the Ruger (so far at R1)

Devil:
- Krime stopper is for Trolls, or big species, it must be very unwieldy for human size people. Not sure a silencer can be put on such powerful small weapons but that no RAW.
- Combining all those: Donut Shop (Rating 1) [-2LP] ; Loud Neighborhood [-1LP] ; Nosy Neighbors [-2LP] ; Rough Neighborhood [-1LP] ; Worse Neighbors [-1LP]
on your lifestyle along with the Wanted Quality is calling for murder. Not only you live around bad people, but they are violently bad, won't let you rest, and worst are right in your business, probably checking on you after every move; add on top of that some corrupted cops around that let everything happen. Some Shadowrunners would handle that, but being wanted by authorities and bounty hunters on top of that and I'd give you a couple days of freedom max. :)

That being said, it is I believe quite a solid group, even if week in the friendly drones department.

Ah sorry, probably didn't clarify. He was about 10 when SURGE happened, making him ~20. Thanks for the advice on the commlink though.

Devil your Krime Stopper has a number of issues you should be aware of due to the rules
Code: [Select]
Krime Stopper
+ Concealable Holster; Cyber Safety; Silencer; Silencer; Smartgun System, External; Chameleon Coating; Thermal Suppressor; Under-Barrel Krime Stopper

You can't have a silencer and a flash suppressor on the same weapon. (You don't need to either, a flash suppressor is a simpler/limited version of a silencer).
The ability to put a underbarrel weapon on a pistol is a very grey area of the rules. to quote the rules "This mod is generally only available for longarms, machineguns and assault cannons." It also changes the concealability of the weapon to +4.

If what you're looking for is a huge hand cannon. Just get a Cavalier Arms Sherriff (Gun Heaven 2) it's not silencable at chargen (16F availability) but costs less than half and deals better damage while carrying more ammo.

Krime Stopper is for anyone who can handle the kick.

Are there rules against having a silencer on a pistol? Nope. Does the weapon specifically say I can't? Not to my knowledge.

I read all of those advanced lifestyle qualities that I used. It's a dangerous neighborhood, sure, but isn't shadowrun supposed to be dangerous? Yakuza and Police have a strong influence in that downtown International neighborhood. I noted that my character travels to his home invisibly from his bolthole, as well. Also, the essence of drama is conflict.

One or both are mods on both guns, not accessories. I don't think those rules apply to mods, do they? Thermal suppressor does more than just muzzle flash. It suppresses firearm heat.

If there is a more powerful weapon, then i don't see why this one shouldn't be legal. Min-maxing is not my goal.

The underbarrel weapon might be bending the rules, but even with it the gun only has 3 capacity and is weaker than the Sheriff.

I appreciate both of your insights, but I don't see these things as problems that I need to change unless the GM tells me they are. Most of these things I did purposely. If any of the other people involved in the game object, because this will damage their gaming experience, then I will make changes (with the GM's permission), but I don't think that is the case.

By all means, don't change things. What I noticed are just pointers and like you mentioned in no case breaking any rule.

The Krime stopper being made for Troll will give you an unnecessary -2 dice pool penalty. (p 311 SRA - Un adapted gear) on top of recoil.
Now, mind you, I think the weapon looks awesome.

No the thermal suppressor doesn't do more. The silencer (mod version) provides a -6 to detect the gun being fired(both sight and sound). the thermal suppresor does a -4 to detect by sight only.

I removed the metahuman adaptation.

Silencer never says anything about heat suppression. Where are you getting your information?

Guys, I just moved and my connection isn't set up at home. Hopefully that will happen very soon. I've been posting from an internet cafe for days, so that is why my posts have been less frequent. My apologies.

Also, since I can't concentrate in here I'll be copying the IC thread and taking it home. My post will be up ASAP tomorrow morning. Again, I apologise for the delay. Internet hookup takes some time here in these backwater villages. I'll try to find a quiter place to post from too, so this doesn't happen again.  ;D

Page 153 of arsenal. Silencer is -6 to all perception tests. Thermal suppressor is -4 to perception tests only when looking for the flash and/or heat signature.

How long does it take invisible castle to send an activation email? I'm trying to make some roles and I haven't received my activation email.

Need to roll starting Nuyen, Datasearch, and Track(matrix program).

You can make rolls without signing up. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/  Just fill in the fields, no need to make an account.

But FWIW, mine took a day to show up when I signed up for invisible castle.

Starting Nuyen (pool 4x100)

Okay if I did anything incorrectly then please let me know and I will remedy it. I'm new to matrix use.

I don't remember the coding, but I know Invisible Castle can break up the die rolls to show the outcome of each die instead of always showing a total score. Makes it much easier for this game. Even has a way to reroll successes and all that

Guys, I really like to use the private rooms on http://rolz.org.

Simply go to http://rolz.org/group (http://rolz.org/group)
Type your character name for Nickname
and type " RainyDays " for the room name

Voilà!

5e5 will determine the success of a dice pool of 5
start  with / to describe what you're rolling. The good thing is that everyone can check it out as well as see previous rolls without having to search through the threads.

What do you think, Teafo?

I'll keep actual rolls to a minimum at this point just because everything about the meet is pretty straightforward. Later on I will definitely be requiring such rolls, but to make a full table for every instance where 1 hit means you see something, 2 means more etc etc etc is tedious. I'll just let you know what you see for now.

Just to let you all know I will be travelling starting tomorrow, so I don't know what my connection will be like for a little bit. I apologize in advance as this will delay the game for a bit most likely. I will try to keep up with everything and keep it all rolling even if it's just from my phone. Never fear however, as soon as I have a stable internet connection once again, I will be back to posting regularly and the game will continue!

Did you make those cause they're pretty damn good!

Also Winters has blonde hair but everything else is pretty spot in.

Alright. Thanks for letting us know. I like the roleplay happening in this game and hope that the level of activity can continue.

Devil looks pretty much like my current avatar, in case anyone wanted a visualization of him. I used the character creation system in an MMO to make it, so it isn't perfect. Eve looks a lot like Roxy Spaulding from Gen 13.

Do I need to roll Negotiation on this Nuyen negotiation or are we free-forming still?

Thanks for letting us know Teafo. I'm having a lot of fun for my first time at this. If anyone has any suggestions for me, let me know.

Anyone curious about visualisation of my character can now find one under a spoiler tag on my charsheet. Those look amazing by the way Obidancer.

Incidentally, Shira's pheromone receptors will easily pick up Fang's nervousness.

Speaking of character sheets, I'll be making an updated version of Devil's, mostly to remedy the issues that were pointed out to me. I'll submit it to Teafo for GM approval before replacing the old version with the edited one. I'm hopeful that this wont be a problem, as I wont be changing anything of importance. If it is a problem, then I will just live with things as they are.

Ympulse, haven't heard from you for a while. You still with us?

Of course. I'm letting you guys do your thing, for the most part. I'm actually waiting for a few more posts before putting mine up, since Mick is the "wait for the opportune tine to speak" type rather than "speak because he wants to say something"

[edit] Pretty accurate 3D model, by the way. Good job :)

Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <01-23-13/1426:00>
Here is the updated version of Devil, made to address the issues that were pointed out to me. Not much has changed. His Krime Stopper is now no longer in a grey area, and it's a little more effective and economical. The only gray area is Hardliner Gloves combined with Rappeling Gloves. Didn't want to have to keep taking off and putting on different kinds of gloves, when I am already paying to customize them. If it's an issue I'll change them into two separate pairs of gloves. Lifestyles have been changed in order to not be so suicidal, but are now significantly less economical. A couple of minor pieces of gear have been added, and some superficial alterations have been made to descriptive texts. All BP totals remain the same.

Requesting GM consent to replace my old character sheet with the updated version. Code would be added at that point. I made a point not to change anything that has played a role thus far in the game, and nothing specifically helpful to the current job, so that there are absolutely no unfair advantages received from the changes.

This is merely to perfect the base character, so that I am not building upon a broken foundation.

@Obidancer: Thankyou. I've seen your work before and you are quite skilled. May I ask what you use to create these models?
@Ympulse: Good to know. Sorry to pester you, and sorry if I am slowing things down a little. :) I am a pretty heavy roleplayer, and I'm hoping to cultivate some interesting relationships and interactions for later. Plus I'm hoping to squeeze some key info and nuyen out of these NPCs. Can already think of ten different ways to spend that extra 5,000 that Devil is trying for. That said, I don't really intend on dragging this scene out more. I think we are probably almost ready to move on to the info gathering/surveillance, and planning stage of the run.

"The All-Seeing Eye" in latin. Sounds like Masons or Illuminati, or simply a private eye trying to be flashy or mysterious.

I´d be interested in researching all of the characters further, if their players are interested in humoring me. Seems like some people aren't tryng to roleplay in so much depth, though, and seem to prefer the basics. Over time, I'll figure out if you are one type or the other and I will try to play to that when potentially interacting with your character (meaning that I will have my character interact more with those players interested in more extensive roleplay).

Hopefully we hear from our wayward GM before too much longer, so that we can progress in the story. Until then I can mess around a little in AR, thoughts, and subtle interactions, I suppose.

I'd love to humour you and continue roleplaying, just still learning my way around the Shadowrun world. I'm fine with AR, thoughts, interactions, etc. Either way, I'd be happy to respond if you desired to research into and/or communicate with Fang (he's  less likely to start communications due to his discomfort being outside VR as well as being fairly shy by default). In turn that's why I've been trying to make sure the picture starts displaying so you have an idea of what you're looking at.

It's actually Italian not Latin.

Rent-a-cop... Winters would have some strong words for you if you called him that ;D
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <01-27-13/1607:29>
Okay, I've posted once more in the IC section. I realize that there is a temporal factor, but assume that much of this is going on while other things are happening, or during lulls, or could otherwise be slipped into the course of events taking place. I don't think it's something to worry about overly, unless it bothers someone. I'm simply bored and wish to keep something going.

@Solodice:
Merely trying to convey Devil's opinion of the security and enforcement sectors (which makes sense, given their opposition to his activities at every turn), not my personal opinion. ;) Perhaps Winters will prove Devil foolish to have made such assumptions.

Italian? Interesting. I'll change it. My translator told me it was Italian, but I naturally estimated that it was Latin. Now I realize that my reasons for assuming such may not have been accurate. I'm guessing it is probably a family crest at this point, but it is simply an educated guess.

@MaxKojote:
Thank you for humoring me. Your character is quite interesting, and seems eager to make some connections in Seattle. Maybe some long term friends even. That could work out well for Devil, since he only has one friend and has many enemies. The trick is being able to tolerate his personality. It's an acquired taste, but his blatant distrust of everyone and everything is usually a boon to those he values.

I glimpsed the picture. He's a young, techie, anthropomorphic canine, yes?

Devil looks very much like my current forum avatar. Obidancer has also been kind enough to say that he will work on his interpretation of Devil's appearance, which I greatly look forward to seeing. At some point I may hire someone to do a character portrait for me, but I am travelling currently, and am far from the artists that I would normally hire.

Well, Winters has actually targeted some of Devil's least favorite kind of people, so Winters will get some points for that.  I'll post something about Devil's response to the information on the two of your characters in the near future.

I responded to the info search, MaxKojote. I gave you the general info from news and some discussion, but feel free to try to look into details if your character wishes to.

Ok Stupid question: Doesn't AR requires the use of AR gloves (and thus hand movement), unless you're a technomencer or has a neural connection to your brain, like a datajack and fiber optic cable?
Trodes would be used for VR. Am I missing something?
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <01-29-13/1250:33>
Several methods. Hands, vocal commands, eye movements tracked by a micro-laser in glasses as well as a DNI. Trodes work as well since they are usually connected to a Sim Module to experience Simsense, which is recommended as one of the easiest ways to access AR.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <01-29-13/1733:43>
Devil is using a datajack and cybereyes to mentally interact with his Comm. Can do AR, but not VR (without additional equipment). This is the way That I was lead to believe that it worked.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: obidancer on <01-29-13/1835:36>
If your commlink is connected to your data jack, I believe you are correct, Joker, that is also how I understand it. As a matter if fact, you could as well go to VR as long as you are connected to your commlink.
Without a physical connection, wireless, I was to understand you needed AR gloves to interact with AROs, but what MaxKojote said make sense too.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <01-30-13/1436:53>
I believe that skinlink is far superior to wired or wireless, but that is a personal preference. That's what I have Devil use. I believe a skinlinked commlink could also be interpreted as taking the place of AR gloves, but that is simply my interpretation. I could be wrong.

So what's our plan if Teafo doesn't show up again? It's been quite a while without any word. Would we look for another GM and another game together or just disband or what? I'm open to ideas, but I rather like roleplaying with the greater half of you, and would like to be in an active game with those people. If you were into that then i could take the helm in finding us a new game at the appropriate time. It's up to you guys.

Just depends on who wants to stay with the group and who does not, also on finding another GM. I'm enjoying the roleplaying of the group at the moment, just a pity we haven't heard from Teafo in over a week;otherwise I'd also be happy to follow you to another game.

I am currently in Afghanistan (yes I'm in the Army), so connection isn't what it would be in the states, so my phone has been failing me. Teafo I still would like your decision on my character edit. It's in a spoiler on page 3, I believe. Mostly it's  to correct some illegalities and problems that people pointed out to me, but I didn't want to replace my old version with it without your permission.

I'd say no need to wait another day or two. Two weeks were plenty enough to answer and he hasn't show any interest in being active to the game anyway. Everyone else is pretty eager to continue, if your situation allows it Teafo, you should just go ahead and make the game move along. This end of week end would be ideal. My opinion.

A tactical team for a meeting... I suspect this Johnson isn't the one to trust anyone or he's got some enemies in high places.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <02-19-13/2138:32>
Glad we are moving along again.

A tactical team begs the question of why doesn't he just do this in house? Johnson has the resources. I'm guessing this mission is either for patsies or has a low probability for success. That or he is wanting a more delicate touch than goons can apply.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle

He's definitely looking for a much more delicate touch and he obviously doesn't want to broadcast who it is that is attacking a rival corp. That usually leads to bad things from both sides. Even if a tactical team doesn't wear their identifiers, it's still pretty easy to tell who they work for based on tactics usually.

I would agree, so I'm leaving it up to you guys to decide where you'd like to go to start planning how you want to take on the hospital

Post by: Devil on <02-21-13/2040:47>
Edited my lasy post to take that into account... Okay, guys. It's time to get back into the swing of it. Obidancer, Maxkajote, Solodice, let's do this. I'm thinking that our first move is to find out what we can about the research hospital, do some recon, submit our gear lists, discuss potential plans... all that good stuff. If any of our other members return then great, if not then we still have plenty of skill to pull something like this off.

Question: Who has a vehicle and who does not?
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <02-21-13/2357:45>
Don't have a vehicle. Probably going to get those blueprints and compile+register a Paladin sprite in preparation. Possibly a Machine sprite too.

Should we use anyone's home for a possible hideout? Or split up and meet later?

Oh Teafo, if it's not too late, can I exchange my Armor Complex Form for a Shield one? If it's too late I understand, just thought I better ask.

Shira has a Suzuki Mirage bike.
I believe it's late now IC, best to get some rest and meet up early. Shira is fine with letting people in her place, plus it is certainly big enough for everyone to fit and in a safe neighborhood. It's not that she's overly trustful but she's confident in her skill to handle trouble, so she's fine with having 'strangers' home. Plus she's wants to built up the team so installing trust in each other is important. Lead by example.

We can skip directly to morning too if needed.

Winters has a Mercury Comet. He's open to giving someone a ride if they need one.

Probably best to have the PCs head back to whatever hole they crawled out of an get back to it in the morning.

Joker's not really the sharing type until he gets to know people. Otherwise he has quite the headquarters. He drives a modified Suzuki Mirage as well.

So at the meeting, if we don't hear from the absent members, we should continue on IC without them, or act as if they are there even though they are not?

We can play it out in character that Mick might of got caught up in other stuff. Our PCs can talk to Collider to see if we could get a replacement or if we're stuck with this current group.

Right now, I'm going to assume that they are sitting on the sidelines, and if they come back, then they can rejoin. However, if they do not, I think we can manage with those of us still here. I am a bit reluctant to pull people into a game that is already started, even if it is still in the planning stages. I just know how much of a pain in the neck it is to join and have to catch up on everything.

I'm fine with it just being us four. We have an unusual and highly entertaining group. If I did have a recommendation for an addition to the group, though, it would probably be Novocrane.

Thought I would introduce an old friend or used to be of Winters in my post before he drove off to Shira's.

Izzy's a 23 year old elf girl that has been around the block a few times but many of those times haven't been the best. When she was 21 she ran away from a local gang she was in and made her way to Winters neighborhood. She was lucky that Winters was around because two male humans, after a long day of drinking were following her, but Winters was on his way home when he caught them in the back ally pinning Izzy to the ground. Matter to say those two guys were going to have more then a nasty hang over the next morning. Winters took her home acting beyond his good judgement. Winters didn't want her around for more then one day and tried to get her out of his place the next day but it appeared his mom took a liking to her and me kept her around. She stuck around for about a year and she tried multiple time to become more then friends with Winters but Winters never had any of it. It turned out one day though he caught Izzy stealing from his mother medicine and grabbing his gun case for his Terracotta Arms Caravan. He kicked her out that day but he's helped from time to time with problems but he's recently cut all ties to her.

Post by: Devil on <02-26-13/1820:34>
Well MaxKajote rolled to see if we could get a layout of the place at the top of IC page 5. Did he get anything useful?

So far we know it is a research hospital, owned by Shiawase, working on a cure for HMHVV and is nearing the end of the testing stages from the sound of it. Research hospitals are basically secure science facilities. The potential for real difficulty in being stealthy lies in what kind of automated security they have, because you can pretty much always find a way to fool the metahuman element.

Solodice, your post made me laugh in a good way. Well done, sir.

Will post IC late tonight.

It would be interesting to see if you could hack Devil's commlink, but transferring the data by other means would probably save you some time. He is in passive for now. Gotta broadcast some kind of SIN when you are running around downtown unless you want to attract attention.

You may attempt to hack into the security system if you'd like, just remember that it is a megacorp owned building, and may turn nasty, or worse, tip them off to the upcoming run altogether.

Huh. I was going to say it might not work on the basis of being an enclosed system and requiring me to be on-site in the first place. But that works too.

You may be able to access some parts of the security system, but yes, the cameras and anything that is part of secret projects (i.e. anything to do with the vaccine) will be entired closed circuit.

Alternatively Solodice can share the information he got from his contacts with the group so they can discuss plans. Since soon my character will need to start registering, at the very least, a Paladin sprite; and doing so will require him to be busy for a while.

So if we go with the delivery truck like a GMC Bulldog what kind of mods would you guys need on it? I know Winters would like to have a hidden compartment in the dash by the driver for a small pistol in case things get nasty (Winters can be driving if needed as well). What others mods would make sense? I'm thinking we might run into physical security that might check the truck inside and out.

Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <03-11-13/2124:44>
Can't think of any mods, but I'll likely be going more remotely after the first recon. If I remember the matrix rules correctly, I can create a backdoor (hidden account) that I can later use to access by breaking in via one of your commlinks. The three  of you are more skilled at on-site operations (combat skills, infiltration skills, charisma skills...) than my character is so it would be the best to have you guys using the truck.

I'll need to double-check, but can I theoretically just hack in via one of your commlinks in the first place to create the backdoor, using the MSR of you? Or would my bionode need to be close enough?
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <03-11-13/2245:07>
GMC bulldog is also quite expensive. as in more money than any one of us will make on this job. I think we should pick a much cheaper vehicle or find an alternate method of procuring one, like kidnapping a delivery guy. The problem with that is that we are just in the recon stage. We can't do anything that will raise any red flags for when we try to actually achieve our objectives. Maybe we can steal ourselves some new jobs. Know what I'm saying? Go to work for the delivery company for a day or two. I'm willing to have Devil do it if Fang can get him the job. Maybe a transfer as cover story. Then we just need to make sure that he gets the task of making our delivery to the hospital.

I like the transfer idea to get a devilery vehicle. I'm sure the rest of our PCs can help you from the outside. Winters can get his contacts to place you on the delivery route or at least try, Fang could always hack into the Hermes' matrix system and give you the route that way, or we could send in Shira as a fake higher up and get you the route that way... ideas, ideas.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <03-12-13/2235:49>
Yeah that sounds good. With the proper credentials it could work. I'd like to see about getting a uniform or two for the delivery company too before they actually do this. Do you think we need any special IDs or anything like that? Could find out or just play it by ear.

So let's see where we are at.

Recon Job Requirements:
An order from the hospital
A vehicle from the delivery company (or a modified vehicle of the same make)
At least one delivery uniform (more is better)
Falsified company records
IDs is a possibility

A couple of these steps need to be timed right too.

An important issue that comes to mind that warrants us talking about. Once we show up at the hospital, how do we want to proceed? (keeping in mind we need details about the building, but not to come off as intruding)
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <03-15-13/0906:55>
That may partially rely again on our contact. Beyond that, we (you) could try flattery. Heck, Shira could try talking casually with an employee while you "deliver". Daddy's little assassin probably has ways to get people to let things slip without thinking.

Observation would be a key as well. Possible node locations, presence of wi-fi negation and so on. We already know the place is closed-circuit, but not much beyond that. Matrix knowledge will be needed to collect and destroy soft data.

On the topic of recon requirements: That seems to be most of what we'll need. Get a job at the company registered on one of your fake IDs might be wise.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <03-15-13/2001:34>
That's a pretty hefty expense. I hope there's a way to keep the SIN from getting burned after all of this, because otherwise that will cost me thousands. Maybe Fang can create a company profile for use under our fake sins, but then erase them at the end of the job.

Okay, so I think the best way to proceed is to divide up the various tasks for this phase. Fang is going to have a fair amount to do that he is really the only one capable of doing well.

Uniforms... Winters could call the contact that said he could get a delivery van. Maybe he has a lead on some uniforms too. Devil could also ask his contact as well. The other option I can think of is to try to buy them from a store, the matrix, or steal them somehow.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Solodice on <03-15-13/2112:32>
I'm sure Winters contact can grab some delivery uniforms from Hermes... stuff gets lost all the time....

Now someone post in the IC thread that isn't me  :P
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <03-16-13/0720:16>
Fake company profile could be best. If need be, and with difficulty, Fang could try to edit the Hermes employee database temporarily for the purposes of the run to include Devil as an employee. Then later remove Devil's SIN from it once it is done. However that could be risky as it may leave a trace.

So tasks so far for the recon:

Fang:
- Initially break in via Matrix to the hospital's network and generate a fake inventory shortage. Also create a backdoor via a hidden account for the mission.
- Create fake profile tied to Devil's fake SIN if possible
- Possibly find a matrix method of getting Devil on the delivery route

Devil:
- Acquire a uniform. Winters could do this too.
- Learn a bit about Hermes' procedures just in case he needs to do anything in regards to it.

Winters:
- Acquire a uniform. Devil could do this too.
- Acquire a van.

Shira:
- Ensure Devil gets the delivery route?

That everything so far?

Hi Guys! My deepest apologize for the disappearance. My Wedding is coming in a few days and between this, some more projects in my business, and family arriving for the big day, well you may guess it has been crazy. I didn't even had the time to visit the forum.

I would love to say I'm back but there is no way it is going to happen before the end of the month. So if you all accept me back once May pops up great, I understand if not. I also know I have a lot of catch up to do, oh boy.

Also congratulations on the wedding.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! I know the amount of planning that goes into it, I've been married for a few years now, so yeah, pretty crazy a lot of the time. I would happily accept you back as May starts. As far as the game is going, it seems to be progressing rather slowly, and from the sounds of it, it seems like the other three are capable of handling the requisition of a delivery cover story. So I will just keep it about the same pace and we'll work you back in when you return.

As for the actual requisition, I think you guys have got it all ready to go, just gotta get at it. Can go ahead and recon the delivery service by either going around and seeing what you can find, or heck, could probably just go to the place and ship something. In either case, it'll get you close enough to get access to their matrix nodes easily.

Hello Guys,
Can someone brief me on the plan we agreed on? And what does Shira have to do in it? From the IC threat I get we (well Devil and Winter at least) are visiting the Delivery company, and Fang is breaking in from the Matrix. Hasit been decided what Shira's role will be?

Thanks.
I should be back on track now to get things rolling.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: MaxKojote on <05-03-13/0714:27>
Right. The plan. Um.

I believe the plan was to get Devil and/or Winters employment with hermes to be couriers. In turn Fang would be ensuring they got the delivery routes to the hospital (and leaving a backdoor for this purpose). Shira was sort of left out since I think we didn't know how long the Hermes part would take vs how busy you would be with your wedding. For the moment I think Shira is just sitting tight until the first part is done, and making sure Fang doesn't expire as a result of hacking to death.

You might be able to do some legwork. Possibly take a look at the hospital itself or something.
Title: Re: [OOC] Rainy Days in Seattle
Post by: Devil on <05-05-13/0959:13>
Well, we could plan to put her in the package if you are confident of her stealth abilities. If not, then Devil probably needs to do it.

We came up with the plan to get people inside for recon by using the delivery company that the hospital uses. This would possibly even get one of us into a more secure part of the building if they hid in the package. This is just a recon mission though, so we can't mess up and alert anyone to anything out of the ordinary for the research hospital.

It kinda looks like code if you're not up to date on matrix rules like myself  :D

I'm thinking that I'll leave the talking up to Devil here. Winters is just the guy in the back that acts anti-social.

Edit: Did I say Fang can do all the talking... unless they like for a Hermes admin to randomly spam them with a message...

I'm very sorry to say that I just don't think this is going to be able to keep going. I very much appreciate that you few have stuck around as long as you have, and I apologize for the absences that I have had as well. But when the initial push loses a couple and then more drop away as time goes on, that pool of 6 turned to 2-3 active, and I just don't see it all coming together the way that it should. I may try again in the future, getting something up and running once again, maybe even the same mission, but for now, I think this old goat has finally died.

I will still be around the forums, hopefully even able to join in and play a game if one becomes available, so I will likely see you all around. If I do decide to restart this whole thing, you will all be the first ones to know, and maybe it'll even go through the next time.
