Magica societys lists groups that easily have 60+ members.
(I'm atm most interested in that voodoo group that is listed with 60 so I'll use that as the example.)
Streetmagic says you need an arcana + logic test and the treshhold is 1,
also the treshhold increases by +1 for every 5 members the group has.
This means to join a 60 members group I need to get 13 hits?

13 hits, and you have 2 tries.
with Logic 5 and arcana 4, you'll get about 3 hits.
And you spend 5 karma each time you try joining a group.

How is it possible for groups with hundreds of members to form? there are groups counting a thousand and more.
Everey little NSC needs to achieve 200+ hits on this test...

This is actually explained in the book. Magical Groups and Initiatory Groups are not the same. The former is a collection of several of the latter. The latter doesn't have a lot of members.

Hey Thrass, the relevant section you need to read is in Street Magic, pg 69, second paragraph. Right after the bit that explains the threshold it says:
Note that large magical groups (such as the Illuminates of the New Dawn) are in fact associations of smaller groups, so only the local membership counts towards this threshold.

Then if you look on pg 72 of Street Magic, you can see the IOND and Jamil lslamyah membership and how it is broken down.

If the group you are trying to join is Cracking the Bones from Magical Societies, well that is a society, not a magical group. While it lists 300 members, they aren't all magical and the Magical groups within that society will be much smaller, similar to how the IOND or maybe Jamil Islamyah is broken down.
