Saw this article and thought it'd be neat to share.  Nothing really new in the list, but you never know...

Along the lines of the bolt cutters from this list, every character of mine carries a miniwelder and if they have a decent strength, they have a crowbar handy--16+ dice to open a door for 20 nuyen?  Sign me up!

Extra socks. Always bring an extra pair of socks.

Yes technicly you could... But i prefer a good old fashioned Sledge hammer to the knee for that extra touch.

In fact i find that there is a vital piece of equipment missing, the radio comunicator, if you don't have one coordination and regrouping becomes really really hard. and everyone knows you need an extra clip ductaped your leg. At least here in Venezuela is kind of a tradition to have one that way... But we don't have the advanced training of a Marine, and our best forces "Los Cazadores" (The Hunters) was dissolved 10 years ago... I wouldn't wish to go to war at this moment... Not even against Walt Disney...

My group had to face the Mousketeer SWAT Team in 2070.  ;D

When they got to the safehouse, the lawn stood up and started beating it.

I think there's a lot missing on that list, but that's probably because the author was told to "bring what he thought he needed", and the list only contains "what they ended up needing". Communications gear is definitely one that missing though, I agree with that.

I'm not at all convinced of the clip taped to your leg, though. What good is it when it's taped to your leg? That one time you desperately need that extra clip is when the 5 seconds it takes to get off of your leg is too long ;)

Martin, there's also the idea of "what he was allowed to say".

That is true. But really, he couldn't say "radio"? If it comes as a surprise to the enemy that we're using radios, we're better off than I thought ;)

Well, some things are understood, no? But going into specifics would be telling.

I see even our Seals neglect to bring the all important towel. I never leave home without one.  ;D

This article was actually painful to read. Wow.

BTW I highly suggest reading my article in Pyramid magazine that gives (GURPS) game stats for many of the 'new' items described there, like the combat tourniquet and newer styles of body armor.

EDIT: Also check out this thread on combat equipment (relevant even though Shadowrun barely tracks weight)

This confuses me. H&K doesn't manufacture M4 carbines. H&K makes the M416, which is similar but not the same.

Hardly the only error on that list.
