Are there things that can help hide from astral perception? I was thinking that it wouldn't be unreasonable for something like the M version of invisibility, or a spirit's concealment power, to help hide a creature's aura or a dual-natured/projecting mage. Trying to figure out a counter to astral perception as an ambush spotter.

I'm not sure how legitimate it is but I always ruled that if a spirit is in the astral using the concealment power that it applies towards astral perception.  Also mana wards appear opaque so that's something to hide behind.

Danke! My current group is damn near all awakened, and two of them have Astral Perception. Trying to figure out something tricky for an upcoming session when they get jumped by some Brat'Mael while extracting a deep cover Moonlight Thorn.

Just remember that Astral Perception = Astral Presence.  It's good for a low-risk non-combat examination, or a very quick pop-up-and-look-around, but a sustained dual-natured presence (which you basically allow yourself to be for as long as you keep up the perception) equates to your own sort of Big Frickin' Target.

Smart runners use Astral Perception the way you do a quick look around a corner - in and out, minimize exposure, work off your memory to think about what you just saw.  Those who keep going in and out are just asking for an astral form - whether that's a spirit or a mage - to kick the shit out of 'em.

God, I miss the grounding rules.

As far as I`m aware, opaque is opaque in the astral, non living things are a solid gray and everything else lights up, but you cant see through anything with the power, just astral forms and magic things light up/ are visible with it. Or am I missing something?

Technically, no.  I've always viewed a living astral form as having its own sort of light, which can 'bleed' around the edges of other things, akin to light which you can see coming out of a room, through the cracks in the door and that sort of thing.  A powerful magic's aura/signature will similarly bleed past, around, and through objects, to be visible on the other side of the wall, in the room next door, and so on - it's why you might get uneasy before you ever open a door to a terrible scene.
