In the classic Mercurial adventure, there are lyrics for some of her songs given, some of which are corny, some of which are ugly, but all of them fit well in the 80s cyberpunk style. If you GMs could cast your minds back, I have a question about them: How did you use the lyrics when you ran the adventure? Did you ignore them? Incorporate them somehow? Sing them to your players? I think it's  awesome that the lyrics were included, but they're GM-only flavor as written.

;D When I ran this part for both my groups when she went on stage I showed my players the lyrics and offered any one a karma to sing them. Needless to say it was very amusing =)

When i ran the first mission of season four, back in business, for my group several months ago, i sang the song to my group. Gave them all a little laugh and i think it got them more involved with the story!

Shadowrun 4E - Missions - Back In Business P8
Quote
Take It To Mister

By Maria Mecurial

Once, long ago, when troubles came your way
You couldn’t take them on yourself,
But you knew just what to do,
To fi nd someone who would help.
When they burn out the farm,
Or ravish your sister,
You put your hat in your hand
And take it to Mister,
Take it to Mister
Then, as they will, all these things changed their way.
The ones who guarded you proved false.
The lord, the patron, the grand seigneur,
Helped themselves and no one else.
So they ravished the land
And whored with your sister,
They made you rip out your pride
And take it to Mister.
Now, we have learned there is another way.
To face the future for ourselves,
We all know what we must do.
If you want to take back what they stole
Feed the rage in your heart
Till it’s ready to blister.
Now put your gun in your hand
And TAKE IT TO MISTER!

I'm actually looking for some good riot grrrl stuff, rather than directly describing the music  - I'm more interested in describing the way she moves and behaves with the synthlink, with the actual lyrics being unimportant to that description. The Spanish/English mixing is also less than important; a lot of singers who translate a song do it fully.

Weird thing, though: hard rock and soprano/alto just doesn't seem to work. I'm hoping to find someone with a good, throaty contralto, that can do some screaming, but I haven't found anyone - yet.

Though I did just find an article on a website called Metalholic...

Plus, the early writers weren't exactly poets; I mean, missing obvious rhymes like "madre" and "stray"? I'd probably redo the lyrics something like, (and this is off the cuff),

Quote from: Maria Mercurial, Puta
I'm your boss, I'm your sister,
I am the woman you want me to be
My time is money, that you knew
So why not frag off, talking ain't free
I've got more tricks that want a screw

Pretty whore, that's what you think of me
To you I'm just a slot machine
Until you spread me you'll be a smooth dude
You'll say whatever will get me in the mood
But once I've been screwed
You can't wait to stutter
Dirty whore, get back to your gutter

...or something like that. The adventure's lyrics are clumsy and it doesn't have to be - and part of the clumsiness comes from the insistence on Spanish lyrics. My espanol isn't good enough to make rhymes with English that fit the subject matter.

...Dammit. Now I REALLY want to dive into redoing the lyrics really well, and I don't have time for that right now - and I wouldn't use them anyway. I've got games to plan adventures for!

The hidden grid had a awesome intro song that I felt fit very well when he ran the Mercurial adventure.
