I am away from home so can't access all the tomes, but you might want to check out 4th ed Parazoology 1 & 2 for some oddities.

For some older school African Awakened critters check out Kenson's page on his the subject.

Note this is from an older edition so some juggling of stats may be needed, but still fair reading.
