Mmm, Revy.

Other anime series to watch for a similar feel:
Tokyo Ghoul - Could be worth a look if you're dealing with Infected.
.hack//Sign - For matrix play
Sword Art Online - Someone hijacking a VRMMORPG and turning it into a death game? That's just begging to be made into a SR campaign.

Other movies:
Equilibrium - Adepts using martial arts with firearms.
Bourne Identity - For those tables that try to be black trenchcoat, but know how to take the gloves off when things get real.
Kill Bill - Pink Mohawk all the way.

Also, remember that once you start getting into UV nodes and Hosts, you can throw everything you normally think of about the Matrix and throw it out the window. Great choices include:
Arthurian legend
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Otherland (by Tad Williams)
Aeon Flux (the series)

And more. When in a UV node or a Host, everything conforms to the worldview of the setting. Meaning you can have a host where you have to engage in Gundam battles to alter the world, if you wish. Or it could be straight out of Pale Rider. Or the host could be set up like a frigate from the age of sail, and you have to run lines, and so on as part of the crew in order to get anything done. Or it could be an exact copy of the SK headquarters, complete with the CEO. And so on. Just remember to keep the theme consistent.
Greataxe - Apply directly to source of problem, repeat as needed.
