...almost any run can be Black Trenchcoat depending on how the team is composed and goes about it.

I have been involved in missions campaigns for nearly the last year and have seen the same run go both Black Trenchcoat or Pink Mohawk depending on the team

For example, in one mission the team has to get into a an office complex in downtown Tacoma and insert a programme into a computer of a particular employee. Fairly easy...yeah right.

My character was the team's face, we also had a decker one spellcaster a sniper and a "slice & dice" sammy.   Instead of just trying to break in at night which was one of the plans we discussed, we though bit of recon was in order first so we'd know what we were going into.  We did the usual walk/drive by checking security, exits, our mage astrally perceiving for spirits (of which there was one) etc. After that, we decided it would be good to get someone on the inside to check things out.

After hashing over several scenarios (including getting an employee drink so we could copy his keycard), we decided to get a couple characters on a the appointment/guest list hacking through one of the guard's comlinks. It was decided the least "threatening" members to do this would be the Decker and my character. So the decker managed to actually get both of us an appointment with the mark under the guise we worked for a major business publication.  The next morning a few anxious moments as we approached teh building but the door guard checked his pad and ushered us on through to the main desk to get our visitor badges.  After we entered we both looked at each other realising we were inside the noise screen that prohibited wireless decking.  Suddenly a plan came to mind, a ridiculously silly but if it worked, incredible plan, as the decker was entrusted with the chip we needed to insert . When met our target, my character proceeded to lay it on thicker than soynut butter about that he had caught our eye for his service to the company and I was doing a special article on him and the company that might lead to a prestigious award (we did do our homework on him beforehand).

The GM of course had me roll a Con test which almost exceeded the character's limit (14) The target I believe got getting 2 or 3 hits.  Basically she had him totally eating out of the palm of her hand so she took the opportunity to request a tour to which he .gladly obliged. The con was so thorough in fact, he was so completely distracted that he forgot about her "assistant" who was left behind in the office. While he and my character wandering though the complex, her "taking notes", the decker spoofed the camera in the office and inserted the chip with the programme.  When it was done uploading she went to spoof the camera again but ran into trouble getting a mark.  Subvocalising on our links she informed my character the chip was still in the computer and she couldn't loop the camera again to remove the chip. So I came up with an idea as she headed back to the office with the mark following like a puppy dog on a leash. Pays to be a good looking "human" with an 8 Charisma, rating 3 tailored pheromones and the "trustworthy" quality (she  is an elf who got the Metatype Modification bio sculpting).

When we got back to the office, I asked the GM if there was something like a cup of coffee on the desk, he mentioned there was a glass of water. While explaining more about the award and the story she would write about her visit she gestured, "accidentally" knocking the glass over making it spill and roll off the back of the desk (requiring another Con as well as Acting test). Extremely apologetic she went behind the desk to retrieve the glass and clean up the mess, in the process successfully palming the chip from the computer (Palming, a good skill for anyone to have).  After slipping the chip into her pocket then again apologised for her clumsiness. to which he was none the wiser.  After shaking hands and thanking him we both left,.  We held our breaths as we approached the front doors, expecting to be detained by security but were simply allowed to walk out and quickly blended into the afternoon crowd (there was still that spirit).

When we got back to the tavern where the rest of the team was they asked how it went and what did we see. My character took the chip from her pocket and tossed it on the table saying "mission accomplished".  So here, the two weakest combatants on the team. me with a pistol and the decker not even knowing how to shoot a gun. pulled the entire job off by ourselves.  I kind of felt bad for the other players, but there are times the drek doesn't hit the fan.

We finished in about two hours of real play time.  Within our local missions group, this went down as being one of the the blackest of black trenchcoat runs ever.

Afterwards I learned that when a different team went in, everything went south.  They did manage to get the chip inserted and programme uploaded, but not without a lot of collateral damage which I believe also included the target NPC. Guns, grenades, and spells were more the order of the day. instead of cool calm resolve (aided by a very good Con pool).

The Decker and my character received extra Karma and Street Cred for seizing the initiative.  The other team, well, as I understand, several of them ended up with both notoriety and public awareness for turning a five storey office building in an upscale area of downtown Tacoma into a mini war zone.

Both teams succeeded at the goal, though each by a thoroughly opposite approach.

All good and all, not what i was asking though...
I asked if anyone knew of any actual plays , ie; youtube videos or podcasts of players actually playing the game in the recording,
where the players go full black trenchcoat , all the time and actually know what they are doing ,
thusly providing a lot of tactics for any prospective black trenchcoat players.

Also most Shadowrun characters should be able to contribute somehow to a black trenchcoat run,
including the street sam played by an average DnD player , (though the gm would have to allow him to roll his strength or body
instead of his ofc 1 charisma for intimidation , since huge trolls being as intimidating as a kitten doesnt sit right with me..)

Also playing a decker in a dying campaign, i have to say if your decker failed to get a mark this would have set the owner on alert,
and the host would be on alert when warned. Might check out cuz this takes time and decker could jack out,
but spoof command already requires marks on the owner of the thing so why would he not be able to do it twice?
anyway , no matter, the lets plays and podcasts where the players are real full black trenchcoats , any ideas?

...ah, apologies, I thought you meant specific scenarios that worked well with that style.

Never really considered actually recording game sessions.

Hoi,

Interesting idea recording a Black Trenchcoat group as a point of reference. We used to have a group that focused on the technical exploration of the rules (all the players GMed at some point) but we never recorded the sessions. They where also sometimes 8 hours long. Might be an interesting idea for GenCon 2016.

Cheers,
