Gymnastics is a solid skill for any character doing melee combat, and I say it's practically mandatory for Physical Adepts and Street Sams.
As a Street Sam, your job isn't to just stand and shoot (due to how Accuracy works, anyone can do that). Tap into that great Physical Limit and move/shoot/stab as the situation allows. Justify bootstrapping your stats via 'ware.
Otherwise, just play a standard clutch-sniper Face.
-Reduce Unarmed to 1, take Blocking. This is a favorite 2 point token drop of mine for a number of reasons. You're using a monowhip which is fantastic on the offense, and terrible on the defense (you must run it wireless to avoid the potential backlash effect). Unarmed lets you use an off hand to block (get Forearm Guards) in the event some goon grows a brain and closes to your minimum range too quickly. (Gun-kata is another option, but only if you use 1 handed firearms)
Another reason: I've encountered situations where I'm disarmed as part of a run requirement, and while a concealed monowhip rocks in that scenario it also makes a helluva bigger mess than just punching a dude.
Vs Armed combatants (naughty GM!), lethal force is definitely in order and the whip delivers in full. But when you're doing your "Face thing" at a dinner party or corporate gala you want the option to Subdue. With good augmented STR, you can manage that just fine with 1 Unarmed and no requirement for smuggling anything but your meatbod in. Plus, it's cheap to build on with Karma later.
-I'd normally suggest Software -> Computer, as Computer is a very useful skill for a Face (Teamwork/Leadership tests on Matrix Search tests is better than just having your decker do it) but only for dedicated Faces due to their probable superior mental attributes. You're a Street Sam, meaning you're leaning on PHYSICAL attributes more than Mental.
"Splash" Face characters (Samurai and Shamans, mainly) IMO should stick to what they need for their other archetype first, and Street Sams need ALL THE NUYEN. Resources B works well enough, but being able to put real cash down for quality Bioware at Chargen saves Essence NOW and actually allows for upgrades later. I suggest swapping to Resources A.
