I'm midway through Dark Resonance and I'm enjoying it.
I like the fact that it features some Jackpoint characters and ties with the ongoing plots of the Jackpoint postings (especially the Horizon / Technomancer metaplot) and even the unresolved "Caliban" short story from Spells & Chrome. I like how there are actually several groups of characters competing for the same McGuffin, and apart from the obvious bad guys most of them are likable, even if they are hindering the main protagonists.
On the down side I'm sometimes a bit lost with all the technomancer lingo and technobabble, and I had to look what BOLOs means on the Internet as I was unfamiliar with that acronym ^^' Also some character names are a bit over the top but that goes with the territory I guess (although "Myrdinn Risen" did feel a bit too much, especially if it's supposed to be a "real" name and not some sort of alias -- but I guess in SR you can never be sure).
In any case, a SR novel that actually advances and enriches the current metaplots of the tabletop game is a good thing in my opinion, and having Dirk Montgomery (even if it's only a small cameo) and NetCat and Slamm-O! and a few others in the same book is a great way to bring together all eras of Shadowrun.
Hopefully the second half will only get better
