To be clear. You are creating a naturally magically active species and have your character lose those inherit abilities to be a Technomancer. Do I have that right? It seems that a race that was naturally techie or even neutral would be a better choice on building the race.
Yes, I am making a race that is naturally magically active only for my first (and probably only) character of that race to have it taken away at a cost to me.
I know it doesn't sound right from a rules, or even a character creation perspective, but from a storyline perspective, it explains the race much more easily to lump them in with the other Sapient races, but for the character in particular, it offers a reason to be shadowrunning and not remaining with their race.
I hope I have explained it well enough. In short I am intentionally taking a long and expensive way of making the class mesh with race, but I feel for stroyline reasons it works better this way. And the story is what makes the game.
