Strike Force character... How do?

So I'm using chummer trying to make an ex-strike force / swat type character....  Too bad as soon as I purchase any sort of neat armor, like SWAT armor (using restricted gear quality),  it drops my agility down to horrid levels, due to body not being my high stat.

Any pointers on successfully making a character of this type?  Ace Strike Force type... Think something like Hunk from the Resident Evil games

Chummer's killing your agility because you are exceeding your body times 2 in armor.

For every 2 points that your armor (either rating) exceeds your body x 2 you take -1 Agility. You should up your body to at least 6 in order to wear SWAT armor, with 7 if you want to wear the helmet.

As you can see, I've got a bit of the situation handled, but would still love to hear some alternatives and/or ideas.

Question!  Do I have to take the restriction quality AGAIN just to get the helmet for the suit?  Wasn't too sure on that.

I would say no, I'm sure when you got it you made sure to get the helmet too. Double check with your gm though.

I'd worry a little less about trying to be just good at combat, and look into making a character that can spot the bad guys coming, react in a reasonable way when he sees 'em, maintains a reasonable level of fitness, etc, etc.  You're not going to always get to stomp around in your highly visible SWAT armor, after all, so don't let yourself fall into the one-trick-pony trap.

There's an optional rule in Arsenal that basically says "ignore the encumbrance rules if you're only wearing one piece of armor."  So a Body 1 character could wear a full suit of SWAT Armor (12/10) without a problem, even with the helmet since that same rule only kicks in with the encumbrance if you're trying to go overboard with accessories.  As opposed to just a helmet which is a natural part of that type of armor.

That said, trying to make "elite" characters with the default rules is nigh impossible when they're supposed to be as well-rounded and talented as a special ops kind of character.

I know right?   :D   Yeah,  that was while it was just in the stage of trying to figure the encumbrance out.  Thankfully the guy running to the game is allowing the no encumbrance for one piece of armor rule that was mentioned.

== Description ==
Sturdy build, blonde crew-cut, rugged features. Clean shaven, thick jaw, many visible scars. When not in his old SWAT gear he wears cargo pants and a tight grey t-shirt.

== Background ==
Mark Samson is an ex SWAT Strike Force officer who was fired after an incident involving major hostility and aggressive force against a fellow officer. Mark had information dealing with the fact that said officer was on the pay from a crime syndicate, and was in turn responsible for a botched job that ended in the deaths of three other officers. Some time later, the traitorous officer was found supplying gear to a street gang, and was discharged as well.

Thanks to a huge favor owed to him from the SWAT Team Leader, Mark was able to smuggle his gear with him, since he had grown so attached to it. Now, he mainly picks up security and other martially-focused jobs that don't deal too heavily with the criminal element, which he still holds his programmed hatred for.
