I agree with Mirikon except I'd skip Dodge in favor of Gymnastics and just rely on Gymnastics dodging. You have your melee defense covered with Blades. Using Gymnastics to dodge will get you more bang for your buck with regard to ranges defense and broader utility.
Playability > verisimilitude.

Please explain. I don't see how this character loses anything by switching out Dodge for Gymnastics.

Neither do I, but I think they were looking at the full defence (dodge + melee + reaction) vs melee attacks, rather than the quoted bit.
