As soon as a spirit's damage monitor is filled, disruption occurs and the spirit is sent back to it's home metaplane.

But what happens if a spirit is defeated at it's own metaplane? Is it destroyed eternally? Does it become unconcious?

Thanks for your input :)

Probably won't know until the Magic book comes out considering the metaplanes is handled as a sidebar in the SR5 book. You could probably draw from past editions to come up with something for right now.

I don't remember this question being answered definitively in the Street Magic book for 4th edition, so this is a judgement call drawing on my experience of playing the game and deciding how the metaplanes function.  I would say the spirit is disrupted, thrown back into the ether of the metaplane from which it came.  Since (non-free) spirits don't have Sentience, this would mean nothing to the spirit.  However, if it's a free spirit, then you're talking about a whole different ball game.  The same effect, but in the end the free spirit's sapience is no more.  Eventually, the spirit will return, because the metaplanes are eternal, but it would be incredibly unlikely to become free again.
