As the subject states Ive I need help with an Idea I came up with. I got my group to go to Rio for a overall story arc I got going and I noticed something. Its Feb in game time and it is Rio. I want to take advantage of carnivale but other than what cursory research I have done, I have no idea how to caputre the feel for this extraordinary event. I cant let this opportunity go to waste. Is there a module already out there that can help.  Any real info for this would be awsome.

Maybe try these two for starting points:

Amazonia

and

Metropole

I've not read up in detail, but there has been a lot going on down in that area over the last decade and currently...

I can't recall a Carnivale run...but that doesn't mean it isn't out there!  Target:Smuggler's Haven talks about the Krewes in New Orleans if I remember correctly. Not the same flavor, but in the right direction. Cyberpirates also talks about he Carribean League - again not Carnivale, but some flavor in the right direction. ;)
Check out some current Carnivale info online - that might be your best bet. Massive urban sprawl crossed with the Carnivale of today!  8)

The feel of it?  From what I can see, it's a city-wide party which includes a party masquerading as a parade which makes every other parade in existence green with envy.

People hand them drinks.  Put funny hats on them.  Hand them drinks.  Paint their faces as they're walking along, whether they want it or not.  Hand them drinks.  Oh, and people hand them drinks.  Or drugs.  Or just put a slap-patch with some drug or another onto them.  It's a party where it's 'cut loose with all you got because for the next 40 days, it's total abstinence time' - it's the same thing as Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but cranked up to 11 while New Orleans' party is about a 7.8 on the Party RIchter Scale.  Moving quickly - especially in a vehicle - is not going to happen.  Being all dark and leathers and shades and grim is going to make you stand out.

Here's a NatGeo documentary on Carnaval

...the Party RIchter Scale.

Party RIchter Scale? P-RIS? "P- Reis", Piri Reis.

Is there a map for that?

THIS, This needs to land into a SR book somewhere as one of the comments. Maybe we will see a Rio adventure will get mentioned in a JackPoint .
