Howdy. I'm Mark, the GM of a Shadowrun game that my friends and I are recording and publishing. We record for 4-6 hours once a month, cut the session up, and the episodes should be coming out once a week. We got 12 episodes already recorded, so there's 3 or 4 months of content in the future already made up. You can use iTunes to find us, or our web page is http://theheroictwentyeights.com/category/dicecrimes/

We'd love feedback, but please leave very polite stuff on the rules. lol. This is my first time running 5th Edition, and besides Kirk who played 2nd edition with me, it's the first time playing Shadowrun for everyone else. So, we get some rules wrong. Like, I forgot public grid dice mods until what will be episode... 12? But that's only 3 sessions to us.

And the Heroic 28s, which is a 40k Warhammer and miniature wargaming podcast network, is hosting our stuff and helping with the recording stuff. That's why our recordings hopefully sound better than most podcasts: we're using their audio microphones into their mixer, editing in raw, and then making the mp3s.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy! We're doing this for fun, and thought others might have fun listening.

Drek. I'm bad at keeping up with Shadowland, apparently.

We had an episode 2! That is here: http://theheroictwentyeights.com/dice-crimes-season-1-episode-2/

Episode 3 is here, and is the current one. http://theheroictwentyeights.com/dice-crimes-season-1-episode-3/

Episode 4 should be dropping at the end of this week if we can secure a Decker to upload the paydata.

Thanks for listening!

Feedback appreciated.

I've listened to all four episodes so far, and so far I'm enjoying them.  The sound quality is fantastic and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, which is the point of any game after all.

Just a couple of things as a listener:

There's a lot of dead air, perhaps a little more editing would help?;

Using your home city as the location is fine, but listeners are not necessarily familiar with the area, or even from the same country!  Whilst your players may know what a particular location looks like your listeners will probably have no idea unless its described a bit more.  Similarly, perhaps editing out the conversations over which route to take (unless they are in character) would tighten up the podcast some more.

Looking forward to more.

Thanks, Sterling for the kind words and suggestions. I think you'll hear less route discussion for sure in future episodes, but I know 5 and 6 are going to have a little, lol. We're recording 12 through 15 this weekend, so feedback will be a little slow to filter back into the show. I'll see what Scratchy days about the editing. This next session had an honest to goodness rules quiz session we cut out, I'm pretty sure. Heh.

Glad you're enjoying it! Our goal is to make listeners feel like they're there and part if the group.

It's been like two months since I updated this to let you know we're still posting episodes and still having fun. We're into the episodes covering our 3rd run and 3rd session. In this one, meet Stanley, the new Technomancer, and Sean his player. Then the group meets each other, as well as their new Johnson, to do a counter-extraction. We say counter-extraction because the term “reverse kidnapping” sounds dumb. Please leave feedback if you got some!

Love this podcast. Listened to every episode so far. The street names get me though. Gramps, I keep imagining a retired Shadowrunner with a katana version of a sword cane, for instance. Keep up the good work!
Desire is irrelevant. I am a machine.

It might have gotten glossed over early on, but the idea is in the gang, Gramps is old for being 30 something. So half of the joke and half the meaning is its a hard gang life for the 86s. But Katana canes need to be a thing with rules for them. Awesome idea.

Thanks for the feedback!

I must say say, I found the bit with the dolphin hilarious.

One point of on criticism though, can you work on maintaining a consistent volume level?  Some of the people in your podcast are barely audible, and I have to turn the volume to hear them, and then when the non-quiet people, I get my my ears blasted out.  It's quite a pain to have to constantly adjust the volume so that I can hear what is being said, while avoiding hearing loss.  I'm sure some editing, and perhaps re-positioning the mic you're all talking into, can go a long away to fixing that.

Hey Sekkanar, thanks for the feedback! We actually all have our own dynamic microphones on the table, which is probably more the reason it sounds a bit uneven, since if people lean away from the mic to do or find something, we're losing the volume. We spend time dialing in on a mixer to equalize volume, but from my view point as monitor of sounds levels, it's more because we're not trained like radio people to stay on the mic all the time. They do get better, though. We just recorded a week and a half ago, and lots of that sounds better. The podcast released episodes are still only on our 3rd session now, but we have at least 9-10 more episodes already taped.

So any improvements from you feedback, you'll see in 2 months? Lol, we'll see if it can be equalized a bit more in editing too.

I only post on this thread seemingly every blood-super-lunar-eclipse (which, by the way, another would be happening in 2048 and 2081), but I wanted to remind everyone that podcasts are still going up weekly and we plan on doing it weekly as long as we can! There might be a bi-weekly hiccup in a month or two, but we're working on it.

We DID recently record a session where 1/3 of the first episode and all of the 2nd and 3rd episode were lost. We got the 4th episode though, so we're discussing recording a recap of sorts to help the story make sense. But we don't have to worry about that for like... a month.

Here's the newest episode here: http://theheroictwentyeights.com/dice-crimes-season-1-episode-17/

You can get on our facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/dicecrimes

Tweet at us here: https://twitter.com/dicecrimes

or email us at dicecrimes@gmail.com.

We love hearing feedback! Some of the feedback given to us in the last episode should be appearing in a couple of weeks. That's the problem with being a month or two ahead on recording schedule.

And... episode 18 is out now. The fight over and around the truck continues. Smoke clouds, decker duels, spirits summoned, and warnings are given to the runners. Will they listen? Will they resist the urge to murder/explode everything for once? Will bikes get laid down? You've probably noticed some patterns previously, but listen anyways. Even PAST the point where Mark tried to end it early… and forgot he was ending it. Please.

More episodes! More shadownigens! This is my once a quarter update that we're releasing content almost weekly. We're having fun running the podcast and posting our groups adventures and misadventures in the Dallas-Fort-Worth Metro-Sprawl of 2075.

Let us know if you got any more feedback. We're doing our best to incorporate it as we go along. We got all brand new equipment two sessions ago and you're hearing the newer episodes coming through that stuff now. Hope you enjoy!

UPDATE!

Our runners are in the middle of a run. Maybe i should post these updates at the beginning of each run or something so you could join along? Well, we've had a guest runner for a few episodes, the not-in-character version of Opti, playing his own character edge-o-mancer, Gladstone.

Listen in to the first episode of the current run here: http://theheroictwentyeights.com/dice-crimes-season-2-episode-5-calzone/

Listen to the first episode of the current play session here: http://theheroictwentyeights.com/dice-crimes-season-2-episode-10-rules-of-intimidation/

And here's our normal contact info:

Don’t forget to visit Opti’s website and listen to his Shadowrun lore podcast. It’d be mandatory listening, if the idea of mandatory anything didn’t go against the very premise of neo-anarchy.

WOW! We don't post here much. That's because Facebook and Twitter work on my phone, and Tapatalk don't. For some reason.

So, we're playing the April Fool's mission from this year, and think many people would enjoy hearing it! It's called "unCONventional warfare" and was a lot of fun for us to record. The season finale for this will be the live episodes we actually taped at a local convention in the DFW area, A-Kon. Sure, it's anime focused, but isn't Shadowrun about the most anime thing there is? Cyberpunk fantasy magic with elves, japanese mega corporations and currency, and weird shenanigans done by mercenaries piloting robots and vehicle chases? Yeah, totally anime.

Listen if you like! We got ways of reaching us, and I check in here now and then.
