Don’t agree with it but I wasn’t sure If I just missed it on my phone. Something to unlearn.
Overall on summoning Meh. I like differences in traditions. Also summoning already got a mega upgrade with being able to summon multiple spirits without binding. It didn’t need smaller upgrades which won’t be that small once the magic book and 4+ more spirits show up.
And I kind of liked the previous take that spirits usually wanted to be summoned instead of the slaver angle as the narrative. Or at least keep it more ambiguous in the rules. One thing I thought was always good was the debate of traditions and spirits. If it’s just forced servitude pretty much every spirit would hate it no matter how short it is and do their best to subvert your orders.
Given that they don’t hate you unless you abuse it it seems more likely that it’s a willing contract of some kind. The drain is the negotiations and they feed on that energy. In return they follow your orders. When binding was in it was the same thing but they were less gung ho about it given its potential length so it cost more.
