Can you expend Edge on Extended tests?

Normally, no. Chalk this one up to change blindness again, I guess. If you look at the Gearhead quality on p71, you see it allows spending Edge on Extended Repair Tests, while p95 doesn't mention a restriction. From that we can conclude that normally one cannot Edge Extended Tests.

actually gearhead says more specifically that you can spend edge during downtime to make extended repair test ... normally you can not spend edge during downtime activities (or at least has been that way in the past)

you can normally spend edge on an extended test, what is not clear is how often ... is it each time you roll or is the entire series of rolls considered one action? I would rule the entire series is one action therefore you can only spend edge once during an extended test

Downtime limit sounds like SRM. In SR5 you got 1 per day so it made perfect sense to have in downtime, but I only allowed on simple and interval <= 1 day at my table.
