Het gang, I'm looking to make a NPC Rigger that uses his drones as a film crew. He isnt planned for any combat, or many social interactions, mainly staying in a his van letting his drones do the work. What kind of drones would be suitable for this?  They would be filming a group of runners going monster busting in various dangerous areas.

Riggers are a lot of fun.  Couple questions.  Do the runners know this is happening?  What kind of budget does the rigger have?  Do the drones need to be able to take a beating or is it assumed a few of them will not be making it back?  I think the  MCT Fly-Spy is a good drone to take a look at SR4 341.

As of now the runners know what mission they are going on, they know its dangerous. But they dont know about the rigger joining the team. My origanal idea was to have the director/producer run the cameras and whatnot. But that would be too much for one guy. Also the director recently came in close contact with what runners deal with on the reg, and has had second thoughts about being on the front. So he and his assistant will remain at the base camp, aka, the vans.
About the rigger, i assume that the director was able to find, through his connections in the film biz, a reliable and resourcefull person. The rigger would know before hand what kind of job he  is signing up for, and would have gear to match.  As GM i admit thats its not easy to resist just giving him what i think he needs, as oppossed to what he actually would be able to get in the story.

As a GM that is your prerogative.  Well the mini drone has a good chance of being undetected visibly especially if you get it a good pilot program and stealth skill.  No reason not to go with Chameleon Coating as well.  This should keep all but the most suspicious and/or lucky runners from seeing the drones.  If they run in hidden mode and use the pilot program to capture the action it should be next to impossible to detect them as background devices.  You can always have them contact the rigger in case of a system alert or a specific action so that the rigger can get them out or counter runners or even the bad guys from messing with them of course that could all be part of the fun.  If the rigger is going to take direct control there is going to be wireless traffic running around, even if it is encrypted, and thats probably going to be noticed by someone (unless the PCs don't have a hacker, techno or agent looking for that.)

I second MCT Fly Spy as a good choice.

Modify with improved economy, improved sensor array, searchlight, and suncell.  Upgrade camera and microphone sensors to 6.

More bells and whistles can be added depending on budget.
