^sounds about right to me. (most people playing the game don't even have a clue at some of the stuff they are doing anyways.) I myself couldn't tell you how much C4 it'd take to blow up a safe.... <.< i just know C4 = big boom. xD
Having access to Ares Technology isn't so bad, being in a room that's connected to the 'trix with holographic display throughout the whole room isn't bad either. Food, drinks whenever you want it. Over all not bad, but being unable to leave and with a Female Dragon? No Thanks! ~The Captive Man

Sounds like it's time to throw an acid ball at the sucker! XD

I have learned something new from this topic, i didn't know vaults were that darn thick! o.o

Shape Metal would probably work even better. ;D

...if they do come up, players should be able to handwave right back -- if the GM says it takes more than 3 kilos of explosive to blast a door, the player should be able to say "well, here's some extra nuyen off my sheet, my character should have known that and would have brought more."

Agreed. Very much agreed.

Depends on the vault.

I've heard of some "Vaults" in the US that were just sheet metal riveted to the walls, with the rivets hidden.  Giving the appearance that it's a big vault when really it's Plywood and Sheet Metal, with an impressive door.

Blowing the door is one thing....the supports or walls adjacent to the doors...Just sayin.  ;)

Vaults go from those tiny things in hotel rooms that you can get in with a rusty screwdriver all the way to places like Fort Knox and Cheyenne Mountain (given the size of their doors, you can consider Cheyenne Mountain as a vault as well).

That place would be like a Fallout Vault.

My favorite example of terribad hacking/counter-hacking is from NCIS.  Someone was trying to hack their database, so Abby starts to furiously counter-type in order to stop them.  Then McGee comes in to help out, because two counter-typers are better than one, and they share a keyboard.  Like, they stand shoulder to shoulder and just both stand there and mutter and go "tickety tackety tickety tackety" as fast as can be, to stop the bad guy from getting into their system.

It was bad.

So, so, bad.

HHow big is the opening system?

Once, my character animated a safe and opened it by making it clkick open. It may take a lot of magic, but your characters may be capable of the same.

Assuming the opening mechanism weighs less than 200kg, or about 450 pounds, they can animate it with, hm lets see, probably plasisteel so 4 hits.

Unless they made it specifically to be magic resistant or something, that isn't too hard...

There's soul blood all over the forums now, and it's all your fault.  Now, if you excuse me, I need a transfusion before I...
