I've run a few campaigns with my shadowrun group since i bought it but i'm really looking forward to this new one. I finally feel like a have a full understanding of the rules (only took a year...) and my players have been putting a lot of effort into their characters, I'm really impressed with what they have. so I wan't this one to be perfect.

One of the characters is a mystic adept whos a relic hunter, mostly for enchanted artifacts and the like, I have a few Ideas for some creative enchantments mostly drawn from D&D. the other character is a street sammy whos life is ruled by a code of honor, his goal is to find the best warriors in the world and beat them in fair combat. both of these character have awesome side stories to work on other than just basic shadowruns and thats getting me excited.

So to my questions.

for starters I'd just like some ideas for interesting enchanted items. I sort of have a cool weapon planned for each character further down the line, but I need some ideas for some little ones, and I want to throw a few with some nasty curses in there to just to keep them on their toes.

If you have any cool ideas for the "honor duels" that would be much appreciated too but that seems slightly more straight forward.

also I want to throw a npc with some mind controlling spells or adept powers at them as the first big bad, but I'm not sure how to do that without making it seem like its not fair or boring. in particular I wanted to try erase memories, to have a sort of dude wheres my car session but I have no clue how to implement that.

Plus I just wanted to thank you guys for all the help, this forum has helped me a lot.a, few months ago I was still flipping through the pages starring blankly at a bunch of numbers and pretty pictures. now I'm actually starting to wrap my head around it.

A cool duel does come to mind. I had a Yakuza sword fighter as a baddie in one of my games, but he never really made it into play (the PCs went another direction instead of messing with the Yaks). He was into rollerskating (not rollerblading!). I had a fight all set up for the kendo PC to meet him on a rollerderby court in a duel of honor. Dim light, a disco ball, high rails, tilting floor and everything ;)
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the WAR ROOM!

The trick here is to have the runners wake up and realise that they are missing several days from their memories.  Their commlink logs have been deleted, as have any recordings they might have made using cybereyes etc.  Make them work backwards (like Dude, Where's My Car?) to find out the truth of what happened.

ISTR that there was a mission like this back in the day, maybe in Shadows of the Underworld?  Used Tir Tairngire and laés, but the same idea.

Magical Items are always more fun when they have a little curse/requirement thrown in.  A magic blade that needs to be coated in the blood of children to open is full abilities.  A crown that brings wealth to its holder, at the expense of the poor (you are named the sole inheritor of several life insurance policies, all held by factory workers who died in a "terrible accident at their factory, or a error in the computer has you collecting half the paycheck of over a hundred already broke wage slaves).  A large rock/alter that heals whoever is placed upon it, but transfers the wounds and sickness to multiple people within  mile.  And so on.

Other magic item ideas:
Minor power focus (rating 1 or 2) that instantly bonds with whoever picks it up.  While the focus in question isn't impressive, the fact it works instantly, and works with other foci, is impressive.  A lot of people will want it to duplicate the effect.
A weapon focus crafted out of an impractical weapon (massive over-sized sword, anything in a "fantasy weapons" catalog, a riding crop, a thimble)
A "lucky rabbit's foot"
A wishing well that grants real wishes
A necklaces that makes the wearer look like anyone the viewer expects to see (which can be fun in a crowd)
Sixteen rings linked to a crystal, so that anyone who holds the crystal can see through the eyes of the ring bearers
A belt with several tiny cages attached to it.  Each cage can hold a spirit that maybe be released to several the wearer
As the belt above, but each cages holds the spirit/soul of a person, and you can command them through the belt (or just threaten them with killing the soul, no matter how far away you are)
A tablet inscribed with a series of tasks, some one which have a lines scratched through them.  The holder may demand a task to be completed, and a dragon arrives to fulfill the task.  There are only a handful of tasks remaining
A necklace that prevents the wearer from bleeding.  It's not well liked by the blood mages

Honor duels
With epic fights, its always location, location, location.  Think of a coll location, and have the brawl occur there.  Some examples:
Between the legs of a herd of dinosaur-like awakened creatures
In/on a building that is collapsing
Several speed boats that keep slamming into each other at high speeds...during a storm
In the middle of a tornado
While two or more great dragons battle around you
Over lava is an oldie by goodie
In a alligator infested swamp/pool
On a factory conveyor belt, a la Indiana Jones and the Star Wars prequels

Hope these help

One of the best duel scenes I've seen in-game, I had built an NPC Gunslinger Adept as part of a team of NPC runners, and a player contact (the player being a Blade Adept). Long story short, the player and contact had a parting of ways, and encountered one another during a run. Quickdraw contests, to-hits, everything got Edged, because both were good enough to call a shot and one-hit the other. Whole duel was 1 IP and still really nerve-wracking.
