Why would a forensics specialist have all that combat 'ware? Seems kind of suspicious.
Contacts seem off. For a forensics specialist I'd expect at least 2 law-enforcement people she could contact for info, files and background-checks on people and places.
Not sure Hacking 1 will be of much use, you're bound to trigger more alarms than you'll get in undetected.
Same thing with Infiltration: Skill 1 + Stat 5 = 6 dice? Personally I'd never dare trust on those dice to avoid the perception of even the cheapest rent-a-cop.

Sure, edge comes in useful sometimes, but if you start with 6 dice and 5 edge, that means maybe 4 hits average on your edged rolls... That's not really spectacular and could still easily blow up in your face.
That's the problem with generalists imo. Mediocrity is terribly dangerous in Shadowrun.

Have to agree with Xzylvador. A Generalist isn't really good at anything.
You are a fair combat character but that has nothing to do with you character's background. And you lag the Medicine and probably also chemistry skill to explain your day job.
Your hacking and computer skills aren't going to help you much so you should also downgrade your commlink and its software.
You have a lot of B&E equipment (but not a sequenzer or a maglock passkey) nut no hardware skill.
Disquise is nice but your cyberware will set off most scanners and that will give you away in most asumed roles because the inocent girl trying to enter the bar wouldn't be filled with ware like a gilette.

You should optimize your build around your high logic and focus on technical skills and being the teams mundane medic to fit your concept.

Hmm, well she was a member of law enforcement part of the reason for the ware, and she's a second generalization shadowruner, hence the rest of it. She had parents who wouldnt let their baby go out without at least 3 Ips. If you want slightly more detailed back story here are the explanations.

She learnt a lot from her parents, combat infiltration advanced social skills, her mother taught her about the awakened world (being a mystic adept herself). and her father taught her computing and hacking. She picked up first aid, forensics and much t do with security and police matters from her work and training with knight errant. She taught herself multiple languages including social customs

Her contacts, she needed to have a shadowruner contact. Her parents set her up with a reliable old friend of theirs who wouldn't get her killed (mcallistar). As to dante's manager, that's where she spends ALL of her social time.

Her comlink remember, defence is firewall + analyse, and she needs good progs and computing to make good disguises. Her background means she would have SOME knowlege of hacking.

You don't need medicine or chemistry to have forensics, forensics is specialized enough that it would include all the requisite basic biology and chemistry. But Maybe i'll scrounge a couple of points for it.

Need to add hardware finding points is hard.

If the cyberware would set of scanners i'll have to change that, though i thought it was legal and easily enough explained.

Edge is ESSENTIAL for a generalist

Along with agreeing about the others' input (especially your hacking isnt very viable), knowledge isn't enough to be a professional forensic scientist. That would be like, a person who has taken forensic theory classes. You'd have to have at least some active skill(s) to perform proper biological and chemical surveys/analyses of a messy crime scene. Avoiding contamination is sooo critical as is proper procedure (actions), knowledge isn't enough.

Gotta love it when someone asks for a critique and then disregards/invalidates constructive input.

Im taking on board some of it. Just not everything. upped hacking to 4. Got rid of the wired reflexes, got synaptic boosters 1 instead and removed sleep regulator and went used ware on a couple of other things topay for it.

Note that its forensics profesion not academic which covers everything you need to do the profesion. Medicine and chemistry have actual in game uses that my charecter wont be doing.

Also i will be starting with some karma so that will be spend uping infiltration and getting a couple of specialties.

IMO, Edge is what you buy when you have run out of everything else to get. If you still have things that need to be higher, Edge is where you should get the points from.

I'm usualy of that opinion ace. But edge is rediculously strong, apropriate for the charecter and makes all these mediocre skills much more viable.

I think this is a really cool character. Keep in mind guys, not every character needs to be perfectly optimized for maximal performance at a given task. I agree that generalists might not be up to par with specialists in terms of raw power or expertise in their field, but having a plethora of in game options does make for a colorful character and it's characters like that which can have just the skill needed for that challenge you didn't expect. To me, this character feels more like a real person in Shadowrun. It's always nice to see something a little different too!

IMO, no, it isn't that strong unless you get a decent refresh rate (like every session or multiple times per session). Otherwise it's just another finite resource that costs ridiculous amounts to raise for little gain.

I though every session was the general rule of thumb...

I tend to find that it pays to have at least a few points of Edge, so you are less likely to be screwed by angry dice gods.

Yep we refresh every session

Thank you shadowjack, I apreciate the comment. That's the intent she can do a lot by herself, but most importantly not get caught doing it. She can actualy do a mission solo, if she uses edge at the right times, well not the magey stuff, but most other things.

Here's how the first mission went pretty well i think.

She hacked the security door for the safe room to meet the johnson in.

Met the johnson, negotiated escrow accounts and such. When her team mate opened the door to leave he found 5 gangers waiting outside.

Got 17 on initiative, wow lucky i hacked that door earlier and so she locked the security door. Oh wait wern't their gun turrets in the outer room? sat down spent some edge and hacked the security turrets and gunned down the gangers. (3 turrets suppressing fire no cover)

Casually got up stepped over the bodies, used the doc wagon sirens to convince her distinctive team mate to run away (so that he wouldn't blow her cover). Walked in to an alley turned her jacket inside out changed hair colour, and set of to her hideout.

Went off to her hide out with the ai characters spy drone following her. And the ever enthusiastic distinctive style 5 mage *sigh* went off to scout out the mission without a plan. Well she only met him today what does she care if he gets killed.

Surprisingly He reported back, with good info! saying the place was awakened central with 4 patrolling spirits and 5 groups with a mage in each one.

So she sent off the drone do scout the inside of the place out since spirits cant see tech, got the info, got paid.

Karma for being a pro.
