Mantis watches the guy drop to the ground. Good he is out cold. Best move fast. Mantis know someone is going to come looking to see what the panic button wanted. It would be a good idea to coordinate with Knives.

Mantis quickly subvocals to the group since he knows time is short.

With the question sent Mantis waits for the team leader Knives to tell him to hack or stand guard once knowing he will jump to it.

Mantis runs over to the computer and sees what he is able to do with the access this late night worker has. As he gets to the computer he decides to remind Hax what they are looking for. Via comm link and subvocal mic. Remember we are looking for this guys activities at this time and date. Mantis adds the license plate and the day and time he was doing his stake out when the crazy mage gave him a bad night.

Once at the computer Mantis first sees if he can get this guys access to get the info he is after. Mantis's invisible fingers start playing around with the system.


First roll I think is my loser level R1 DataSearch with the R value of the system minus 3 for the 3 spells. Too bad I couldn't use my logic that would rock the system.

Mantis sends a command to his "Butler 2.0" to link with the computer so he can have his agent help him in the search. Once he has got his comm link working on linking with the computer Mantis flips to the screen with the vehicle registry database. Once there he will first start a search for the license he has on the runaway mage then go from there.

Typing the registration number into the search field brings up the exact match of the van you chased.
It appears to be registered to a E.Bernhardt & Co. as a commercial vehicle.
The listed address for the company is Unit 9, Croxley Green Business Park, Watford.

The interface allows you to select one of three options for your search results:

-Recent route data

Jacking in the Commlink to the holoterminal brings up a security error. System privileges allow the use of personal commlinks for storage only to prevent transmission of harmful virus/trojan activity.

Mantis laughs. Ha ha my permanent record with this company is shot. If I ever try for a job here I hope they don't check my record or run a lie detector exam I think I might fail it. With that Mantis ops to run a Recent route data search and since they let you save to a comm link he decides to store the info he has gotten so far onto his comm link. (If unable to very quickly do this, Mantis will sub-vocal a record to his Butler 2.0 by reading registry and address info)

The van had obviously been very active in the last 3 months and had accrued a huge amount of data. either that or the system was running slow, as the progress bar on the download took for ever.

Mantis decides to let the team of his find. (Sub Vocal) Well guys good news and bad news, I've found what we are looking for, The thing is this download thinks it should let a glacier beat it in a race to completion so it will be some time. Mantis is glad the team is under his spells and spirit since with the way things are going a response team will be here before this computer learns that people don't like to wait for anything.

Knives pulls his Flashpak and Flashbang grenade from his combat vest and sets them both for remote detonation.  He sets them both in the potted plant, the Flashpak aimed at the lift.  Once set he heads to the office with the best line on the plant and tucks into the doorway.

Now that his makeshift trap is set he pulls out his com to quickly review the blueprints then sends a response to Mantis. <I can work with that.  Just make sure you're ready to run once you've got the paydata.>  Finally he motions for the taser to return to his ready hand.

Mantis hears the scream of the alarm. Well the fan is hit with the bollocks, Time to earn the pay. Mantis gives the team a heads up. Mantis keeps looking up from the computer keeping an eye peeled for anyone entering the room. I wish I knew more hacking I could try and erase my tracks but I have no idea how to do that.

A "ping" could just about be discerned in amongst the din of the alarm system.
The doors of the lift open and two security guards barrel out towards the double doors, taser in one hand and glowing, menacing stun batons in the other.
They are wearing heavier gear than the nightwatchman you encountered earlier, a more robust helmet, a thicker protective armour and an obvious communications headpiece can be seen as they run to the door.
