"I take it your ride doesn't have any connection to your name?"

Leroy followed Matt's advice of disabling anything that could track him.

Yeah its all flagged under my name, but I know a guy who knows a guy, if you get my drift. Besides, there are a few drones kicking about in there that'd be very useful to us.

Matt has a good look around, checking for ladders to the street level or any signage that would indicate a street name corresponding to their location, sweeping his flashlight beam along the roof and walls.

Joel's nose was wrinkled from the smell of the sewer, but he endured. He was panting slightly from the running as he attempted to catch his breath. At Matt's suggestion, he quickly disabled the wireless signal on his commlink; no need to give away his position. Having done so, he allowed his vision to slip over into the Astral plane, taking a look around to see if he was still in the unpleasantness from earlier. If they were free from it, he might be able to request assistance from a spirit, at least to keep an eye on them in the Astral plane.

--Matt--
Talking of wheels, an unpleasant feeling started to creep up your spine. Yes, you remembered your car, all the care you and Danny Boy put into it, that it was in perfect condition… But you suddenly realized you couldn’t remember where exactly you left it. You vaguely recalled that you were driving it this morning, but the rest was lost in a haze, up to the point when you came to in the Rider, among the dead. From then on, it was almost unnaturally clear.

--Joel--
You cautiously opened your senses to the astral world. Relief washed over you when you saw that the oppressing aura of death and suffering was nowhere to be seen. With a glance, you were able to tell that without a doubt, it left its mark on all four of you, but this was a problem for tomorrow: currently, nothing could have suppressed your joy of seeing not even a single half-being that tried to feed from your emotions.

"Good idea," Jade added as she shut down her commlink.  Not that they had reception worth a damn down here anyways.
"It's difficult, but we could get some of those fake SINs," she added, "it might be enough to walk around, especially if we stay out of the high security areas and use a bit of disguise."

Matt saw two manholes in the immediate vicinity, leading up to the surface. His GPS showed that they were still under a higher security neighborhood, a district of Bellevue, and as Leroy said, he suspected they would better go on and look for a different exit.

"One moment... I want to make sure we have something taking care of us in the Astral, perhaps keep us safe." He stopped and focused, narrowing his eyes, calling to the nearest leyline to help coax a Spirit of Beasts to assist him in his endeavours. He felt his training and his mentor both aiding him in his task. His first attempt caused him to gasp slightly as blood spurted out of his nose, holding a hand up to his head.

"Ow... Frag it.  Perhaps that was a bit ambitious..." He cast out his energy again, this time meekly aiming for a less powerful spirit than before. His attempts were already allowing him to see the wolf-like spirit on the other end of the window.

Summoning Force 6 Beast spirit (Optional Powers: Natural Weapon,  Concealment): Summoning (5) + Magic (5) + Beast Spec (2) + Wolf Mentor (2) - Wounds (1) (13d6.hits(5)=4)
vs
Force 6 (6) (6d6.hits(5)=4) WHAT

Summoning Drain: 8P
Drain Resist: Willpower (5) + Intuition (5) (10d6.hits(5)=2)
Edge to reroll misses: Willpower (5) + Intuition (5) - Hits (2) (8d6.hits(5)=3)
Summoning Drain: 3P

0 Edge remaining.

... I need to remember this is my Mage, not my Technomancer. And that I can't just summon a Force 6 Spirit. Never used Edge on my Technomancer, already used all my Edge on this guy. Maybe I should just stick to Stunbolt...

Take two

Summoning Force 3 Beast Spirit (Optional Power: Concealment) roll: Summoning (5) + Magic (5) + Beast Spec (2) + Wolf Mentor (2) - Wounds (2) - Trying Again (2) (10d6.hits(5)=4)
vs
Force 3 (3) (3d6.hits(5)=0)

The horrors of the Rider still affected your abilities. You almost succeeded at summoning a great beast to your service, but you lost concentration too early, and it shied away from the repulsive stench of your astral form. The pain reminded you to be careful the next time, and that ambition was not always welcome inside the pack of Wolf.

The smaller spirit you summoned came meekly, revealing its throat to you subserviently.
Notes: You don't have to use the try again rules for summoning a second spirit. The first summoning test comes with its own risks and rewards, so the second is a separate action, just like shooting someone for the second time. Also, drain value is minimum 2 for summoning, even if the spirit has no hits, but this time you can buy those hits with your 10 dice.

Ok guys, GPS shows we're still under Bellvue. Better keep our heads down till we get somewhere quieter.
Matt fixes a waypoint over the barrens so they've at least got a direction to head in and stows his little fly-spy back into it's belt pouch, now next to useless with wireless comms banned.
I've got a GPS ping for the barrens, we need to head in that direction
he said, pointing into the murk of the tunnels, the route only partially lit by his flashlight.

"I always have to keep my head down," Jade said with a bit of a whine in her voice, "There's tunnels down here were you can run a truck through.  Can't we go through those."
It had been a long day.  Well, not that long in time, she had done longer, but in emotions it had been a very long day and she was starting to get fed up with it.

"No... Don't submit to me. I am not Alpha, and we are all pack under Wolf." His mental message was unconsciously formal as it travelled to the spirit. "I require your aid. Could you safeguard myself and my companions by watching for possible threats?" He had allowed his vision to remain watching the Astral plane. While he could keep watch on his own, having another set of eyes always helps. "I don't care where we go as long as it leads to eventually getting something for this headache I've done to myself. And not into the loving embrace of Knight Errant. Lead on, Matt."

"My senses are yours, brother. Rest assured, i will not let anyone slip by and surprise you." The spirit gets up and immediately starts to make the rounds.

--all--
The sewers were more like a maze than you expected. You spent a nerve-grating hour down there. Some tunnels were closed, and some of those were easier and safer to circle around then to cut through. Some tunnels were wide, where even Miko could straighten, but others were narrow with low ceilings, in which everybody but the dwarf had to hunch and cover. Luckily, the latter kind was much more rare.

At last, you were out from under Bellevue, right under Redmond district. This became apparent from both your GPS coordinates and from the rapidly deteriorating conditions of the tunnels. Lights became sparse, and you heard the sounds of small, scuffling feet from the patches of darkness. You had to risk the surface soon, or risk meeting something down here.

Guys, I think we're under redmond now. it'll be getting dark soon. I think we should pop up and take a look at the surface, get out of this shit-tip Literally... and see if we can get hold of a disposable comm and make some calls.

Matt begins to climb the nearest ladder, heading up towards the manhole cover.
Thoughts?

The adrenaline pumping through Matt's veins was almost as exhilarating as it was exhausting. Though this was clearly the shittest situation he'd ever been in, something about the challenge and danger had perked up something he'd tried to bury since his troubled teen years.
Though boosting cars, doing drugs and getting in shit with the law nearly got him shafted for life, he'd loved almost every minute of it as a rebellious little arsehole. Thankfully fate had given him a second chance, a crime prevention scheme meant a rare chance at a college education and a decent job.
He didn't think he'd be lucky enough to get another opportunity like that, the sense of foreboding at being a man wanted for acts of mass terrorism was overwhelming.
The meagre pinpricks of light coming through the manhole was as near to the light at the end of the tunnel as he could imagine.Fuck knows what awaited him up there in the Barrens. Maybe, just maybe, he could climb out of this shit-tip, clear his name and start anew...
