Boomer's first shot hit the ork in the center of the chest and he went down instantly. It already didn't look like his target would make it, but Boomer made sure with a second shot that turned the back of the ork's head to mush.

Quiten, ducking out of cover again and this time not immediately forced into cover takes two shots at the ork running toward him. One of the shots seems hits but that only seems to infuriate the charging ork even more.

CT2, IP3
Two orks with guns, taking cover at the south side of the truck. Rat'll be on top of 'em this IP.
Two with axes in melee with Three Star.

One wounded with axe, almost on top of Quinten.
Two wounded with guns, next to the burning cabin.

IP3
Three Star 21
Rat 18
Boomer 16

No real need to bother rolling initiative, it seems. No way the orks are faster than you anyhow.

Boomer watched as his two shots took down the Orc with dramatic fashion.  He hoped that the other two who rounded the burning cabin with him also saw and would realize that they would be following in their chummer's bloody demise.
A slight shift of his arm brought the two within his sights.  Once again he sent the command to fire the weapon.  his ears heard the weapon discharge twice at the Orc's.

Rat, darting out with lightning speed towards his two attackers, uses the momentum from his run to charge into the ork with the shotgun, violently connecting his right leg to the ork's chest, an audible gasp escaping as the man was pushed backwards. As the body of his attacker absorbs the shock, Rat turns his head towards the second ork and grunts in a low voice "Run away, brother."

Agility 7 + Unarmed Combat 5 (12d6.hits(5)=5) no glitches. Forgot the extra 2 dice for charging: Charging (2d6.hits(5)=1) so that's 6 hits total. Damage is 3 + 1 from Martial Art focus + 2 from Bone Lacing + any net hits, all physical. If Rat does not hit his target, I'll change the text.

Boomer takes down another assailant and after taking two bullets, the other one he hits doesn't look so hot anymore either.
While both Rat's kick and Three Star's swipe with the combat knife manages to connect with their opponents, neither of those attacks really seems to cause much injury to the gangers.
It does, however, seem to alert them to the fact that they're actually meeting with real opposition instead of just finishing off some half-dead Ancients. They take a short look at their dead pals on the ground and another look in the direction from which the others were supposed to be attacking from and they seem to understand things aren't exactly going as planned.
They don't need to speak a word to each other, their body language says enough.
All of the ork gangers -save for the one running toward Quinten who doesn't really understand the situation yet- change their tactics and seem to be trying to get away.

CT3, you can all act before the orks do.

Unscathed and seemingly having met the Ork's armour with the small knife, Three Star was not going to attempt to kill them when he did not have all his weapons at his disposal.

"I, Three Star, allow you to return to whatever group of violent scum you came from. Remember that this was a bad idea."

Seeing the attackers trying to flee, Rat takes another shot at the shotgun-wielding ork.

Spooky comes out of the doorway, and levels his pistol at the orc heading for Quentin.

"KNIGHT ERRANT, DOWN ON THE GROUND AND HANDS ON YOUR HEAD!" he yelled with one of his more authoritarian voices.  "NOW, MOTHERFRAGGER!"

Spooky's act isn't really very convincing, certainly not in this situation or neighborhood.
But whether the ork actually believes him for a second or doesn't, it doesn't really matter. The ganger turns his head towards the shouting and loses his focus for only a second or two, enough for Quinten to put another two bullets in him and finish him off.
Rat's new attack at the shotgun-wielding ork isn't much more effective than his first. If anything, it's more like a kick in the ass, spurring the ganger to run faster.
The ones in combat with Three Star blink and seem a little dumbfounded for a second, then decide it's better to reflect on things while getting the hell away. They turn and run, almost knocking over Rat in their haste to get past him and join their friends.

Do you want to try and engage further or let 'em run?

"I seriously can't believe that worked, even as a distraction."  Spooky says, shaking his head, then moving to loot the corpses.  "Any friendlies aside from Quinten make it?"

I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.  Mostly because I'm not stupid enough to chase gangers through the Barrens.

Watching the Orc's leave in a hurry Boomer moved quickly to the others not bothering with the gangers.  He looked around at Spooky's comment to see if there were any of the Elves that they were traveling with were still alive.  As he neared he turned off his comlink since the immediate danger was over.  "I don't know Spook.  I don't think it was so much what you said but the failed ambush and meeting more opposition than they expected.  Still it was a worth while effort.  If you're going to lie, go for broke."

He looked at the others as he looked around.  "Everyone ok?  We can't stay here and our ride is out of commission.  We need to move."

Three Star wasn't about to start shouting when they were still in this hellhole so he first glanced towards Quentin to check he was all right, then went towards the fire that the Elf in charge had been caught by, to see if anything could be done.

Rat watches the orks leave, making sure they were escaping and not regrouping for a second attack. Once satisfied, he went back to the group and took a look at the burning elf trapped by the truck. He had a decision to make: could they still save her, or was it time to put her out of her misery? While assessing their choices, Rat answered to Boomer "The man is right: let's get our things and leave this place as soon as we can."

The orks run as fast as they can without even looking over their shoulders and disappear into cover of the ruined buildings lining the street.

Quinten comes out of cover and holsters his gun while approaching the truck. He's got some scrapes and bruises and appears to be favouring his right leg but otherwise seems reasonably well, if not in a very bad mood. He doesn't say a word as he looks at the bodies and the fire, slowly shaking his head. The Laésa finally stops his survey looking at the burning and squirming sergeant, sighs deeply, pulls his Predator out of its holster and shoots her between the eyes.

He inhales deeply and slowly exhales. "Yes... Right. The 'get our things' part may have become quite a lot more complicated than initially planned. It would appear that our entry ticket into the Ancient's police station lies dead inside that burning cabin and I doubt the biometric keys to that secure locker still work after being burnt to a crisp."

Spooky gets to work looting the remaining bodies for things they might need.  "So, what we need is somebody to open that lock?  I'm guessing that it used to be a Star installation, so no mechanical backup.  Anyone know a good locksmith or thief?  I know a guy who might be able to find us one, but I'm pretty sure we don't want him anywhere near this bit of business."

"Are any of the Ancients left alive? I want to at least get in the front door. Quentin, do you know the way from here?"

Three star activates his nanites and does his best to remember his imprints of the journey over but without being in a vehicle the use will be limited.

"I, Three Star,  want my gear back." he looked at Quentin before moving on. "Like I was guaranteed."
